I actually like this game. Yes it has issues and it hasn’t necessarily aged well, but it’s still decent fun.
Indeed. I wish I could find my copy of the Xbox 360 version of it.
I also love it, the prince of persia engine is tight
Games don't age.
I'm now playing it in 2023 for the first time and I absolutely love it. The levels are awesome, the gameplay is better than most games.
This was one of my favevorite games as a kid. Definetely not perfect, but perfect for me
facts. I speedrun it now :)
I used to watch that game on youtube like everyday all day as a small child, it looked so cool and it still looks really cool
Fun facts: if you take damage from enemies or environments, your character heals themselves if their not doing anything, but your time limit is goes on and will show if your not doing anything. Also each character has different idle animations and costumes that reference characters from the movie. Leo(cowabonga Carl), Raphael (the bat monster), Donatello (karai), Michelangelo (jersey devil), even the nightwatcher(Ethan winters). Also some funny clips that were meant for animation testing but keep in for bloopers. Production and artwork used and never used. I give this a 7/10 because it was hard as a kid but became clear as a teen. See what I did there?
They`re
Turtle's in time and hyper stone heist are my favorite TMNT games of all-time
2d beat em ups and hack n slash will never die I like 2.5 D
That's not true you are lying you really like dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde and Captain Comic for the NES
@@jacobprayer8656 lol you got me! I can't lie my way out of this one! You forgot to mention master chu and the drunkard hu lol!
For sure! Im one of the few that preferred hyper stone over turtles in time
Indeed, both are wonderful games, two of the best in the series. Turtles in Time on the SNES especially is such an incredible brawler.
The movie was pretty good. Surprised we never really got a sequel...thought it was moderately successful
The company behind the TMNT movie, Imagi, went out of business. After TMNT they released an adaptation of Astro Boy that didn't do so well. They were in the middle of making a Gatchaman movie when they folded.
@@shinbakihanma2749 yea maybe but I still enjoyed it
This game in my opinion was not a bad game honestly. It definitely had some boring parts but it wasn’t the worst out of the franchise
I for one ENJOYED this game when it first came out, and I got ALL the achievements as proof. Try it if you're a TMNT fan.
I dont think is horrible.a mid game..decent for a walkthrough.
idk dude this game definitely had some love and care this games atmosphere hits crazy. wish I could play this again.
This game is absolutely phenomenal. You are wrong.
I played this so much as a kid on ps2. I love this game. So many good memories.
Well you know, it's the same as the first TMNT game where you switched between turtles, but only played as one at a time
The game was fairly decent in execution; it's clear everybody selects where to force their hate and unfortunately that was TMNT (2007). Plus, weren't they developing King Kong at this point?
Revisiting this game 7 years after quitting it its still pretty good
Admittedly, this was my first TMNT game I played back then on the PS2, which is definitely why I have a soft spot for it. I personally wouldn't call it "horrible" by any means (even for a TMNT game), but I understand how painfully underwhelming it can be for others, especially older players who played the Konami titles. The lack of multiplayer co-op is this game's greatest sin. It's easy to call it a cash-grab since this was right after Ubisoft acquired the game license for TMNT (which this video does a great job covering), but I still like certain aspects of it. If nothing else...the main story, platforming, and combos were what I found most endearing, even if the general gameplay was just Prince of Persia with a turtle skin. Plus, the extra bonus maps and unlocks were pretty cool. It's flawed for sure, and there are better TMNT games out there, but as far as movie-game adaptations go it's pretty nice. If you're looking for a short and fun TMNT experience and don't care about co-op then it's worth a try imo.
I didn't hate the game when it came out, but it definitely could have been better. A poor-man's Prince of Persia is the perfect description for it. It felt almost like they wanted to make an endless runner/parkour type of game, but were forced to shoehorn in combat that slowed down from the movement/traversal portions.
It's too bad, a turtles game that focused more on stealth than beat em up would have been a great game
Ubisoft is the Michael Bay of Video Games. :(
Great comparison lol.
It really is
Alright, are we just gonna sit here and say that the game is bad because it's not like previous TMNT games, or we're gonna review it. I swear this is like every TMNT game review that's based games after the 90s era. " It's bad cause it's not like the games from the 90s" Seriously when are we gonna start reviewing things for their old merits and start reviewing again instead of just comparing it to some other version of it. Is bad faith criticism at its finest.
Turtles in Time is my personal fave as a child, I even admired the difficulty factor of the NES releases. The newest release of Shredders Revenge was a great game to try again in my adulthood, they kept the graphics and gameplay similar to Turtles in Time and added the mapping of the old NES days , great job at nostalgia 👍👍
Kevin never talks about doing animated voiceovers that he's done.
Pipe down Kevin
I actually played this long ago, my brother let me play it on his ps2 and it was pretty fun, i feel like you didn’t give this game a fair chance at all imo😭
Getting Guru Larry vibes from this episode for some reason.
top hat gaming guru? Gaming Hat Man?
This game is my childhood, and I still love it till this day, despite its many flaws. Back then, it was ridiculously hard for me, and I sometimes needed dozens or even hundreds of attempts to get from checkpoint to checkpoint. And I didn't understand english, so all that great dialogue was lost on me. Loved it regardless.
I bet rockSteady can make a awesome TMNT game.
But was TMNT 4 worse than TMNT 3 the movies im talking about. 🤔.
no. 3 is still the worst, even amongst the Bay turtles
No
The sad part is that an Assassin's Creed/Prince of Persia style game with the TMNT franchise would really be an amazing game. Too bad Ubisoft is a shadow of its former self.
This TMNT game, based off of the very lame 2007 cgi film, wasn't horrible, as I've played far worse TMNT games (Mutants In Manhattan, Mutant Melee, etc.). Let's be honest and admit that an overwhelming majority of TMNT games released over the decades were crap. Anyways, I remember playing TMNT (on the XBOX 360) when it first released, and it was a mildly entertaining, yet fairly mediocre action adventure game. I think I ended it that same day, and never played it again, but was neither underwhelmed nor impressed. I just somehow remember it being very mid, yet inoffensive - as in, I didn't feel I wasted my time playing it, nor did I feel I did anything constructive with it either. That's TMNT 2007 the game, in a nutshell - I'll atleast say I enjoyed the game more than the film it was based on.
Assassins creed influence? You mean platformer influence in general…specifically prince of Persia…which influenced assassins creed.
Ubisoft is hit or miss with me. Im not too surprised it wasnt an amazing game.
You don’t get to right the little red monster in the diner as Night Watcher, nor is there a Raph vs Leo fight! 😡
I found the PC version years ago on clearance for $2 so for that price I said what the heck!
Did anyone even played this TMNT game, cause I’d forgot about this one. It’s based around a forgetful movie where it’s gotten a PS2 game made by UbiSoft with PoP gameplay. This is why why this game is forgotten in time.
I did.
Only TMNT game I had on my GameCube aside from Melee
This game has many childhood memories for me I didn't have much games on the 360 so I played this one so much the first level was engrained in my brain for a while, it might be that I had no games to compare it to but I liked it, I'll have to replay it and see how it holds up
This horrible you call was one of my best childhood games
Can't wait for you to cover TMNT Smash-Up. It was a platform fighter that was supposed to be a celebration of the TMNT franchise but turned out to be such a cash grab.
The Konami turtle games were actually quite fun. Were they considerably groundbreaking in anyways? No, but they were solid, arcade-like, beat em’ up games for the era that they released in. Not to mention, they all had Co-op.
The Ubisoft TMNT video game on the other hand… was lackluster to say the least. Instead of combat, it focused way too much on its “decent-ish” parkour system. The combat and exploration were both linear and boring, and there was no multiplayer or any form of couch Co-op. Not to mention, the monsters from the movie were all but almost entirely left out of the game. In other words, the game sucked. The DS/GBA version actually ended up being objectively better than the PSP and console versions of the game.
Did you just downplay voice acting royalty James Arnold Taylor?
I really do also think that because the handheld TMNT games didn't have a need to be high budget, and grandiose, it let the developers craft a more fun, while more simple product. Rather than what happened with the console entries.
I think you bash this game too hard.
I mean I played the TMNT game and it wasn't bad, I had a lot of fun back in the day with it. plus you reference a lot of critics which are known liars who almost never play the games they say are bad so I really don't believe it's as bad as you are saying in all honesty.
Oh thank God it's not TMNT: Smash Up.
I like watching Top hat just so I can say 'YEAAAAAAAAAHHHHH' with him at the beginning
TMNT 2007 is the best TMNT game ever
And with last Ronin I wouldn’t be surprised if this would be the first r rated Tmnt movie ever so that’s awesome in my opinion
I bought it the day it released, and never played it again after I beat it. I don't remember anything about it being bad, but I remember being disappointed how little there was to the game. I guess I was kinda of expecting Prince of Persia and ended up with paint by numbers kids game
That’s why I’m so excited for the last Ronin game and movie
That’s a pretty dark Tmnt story
For the movie based on this game though I thought it was cool but there weren’t too many characters and shredder in that story would probably be like a really dark villain so that was a missed opportunity
This game was mediocre AF. The PSP and DS versions, while being made from the ground up from the console version, was even worse. Now the GBA version? FANTASTIC. One of the best TMNT games to come in since the 16 bit era. It's no surprise many key members of the GBA development team went on to Tribute Games and worked on TMNT Shredder's Revenge.
I think I have every TMNT game (except Manhattan Missions) it's been awesome watching these videos
Personally I liked the Image design for the turtles. The game was crap but the turtle design for the movie was nice.
Certainly much better than the design of the 2010's live action movie.
Thought TMNT was pretty decent,
was basically a prince of persia lite 🤷♂️
Just don't play it on wii 😖😅
I liked this game. I just didn't like it was one player
But what did Top Hat think of the movie? Personally, I thought it was as disgraceful as this game looks, a total waste of time and money.
The bad movie had a bad game, I’m not surprised.
"darker feelings of being a teenager"
What??
I can only play this game on the GameCube the Wii and stuff had wack controls I could never get past the Mikey flying nunchuck part
I had this game on PS2. I only made it halfway through before I gave up on it. It was okay at best.
I thought the game based on the movie was really good.
That was the era of it MUST BE 3D and the GBA couldn't support that very well so they got to do a more faithful adaptation. Like light gun games these days.... good beat-em-up's went the way of the dodo in the polygon era.
Hell, the only beat-em-up I can remember liking on the PXS was the Tekken 3 mini-game.
Dude, I like this game.
I like this game, I think the camera needed some work tho.
We all know where the French perform best is in 🛏.
I hate videos like this, I have fond memories with this game and I don’t need some dude to make a retrospective on how “shit” the game was
How about a ninja turtles "Arkham City" dark game ?
The PSP version was an insult...
WE MISS YOUR FACE TOP HAT MAN! your expressions and persona are my favourite part of your channel. Always puts a smile on my face. Let us see those big blues and big hat more in videos. I miss street chat. you should do a street chat with your partner if you want. If you don't want to be on cam much anymore that's ok too.
The Turtles have had some duds. But the new game is great and I hope we get a new one some day. I don't know if they should try 3d or not. Some games belong in 2d worlds
The best TMNT games are the 2 arcade games, not the console versions, the actual games in the arcades
God I really love all of your TMNT videos. I hope you get to do TMNT Out of the Shadows and Mutants in Manhattan. Keep up the excellent work. 🐢🐢🐢🐢🍕🍕🍕🍕🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bruh Idk why everyone shits on this game for it was cool and different from all the others little kid me is very offended. P.s. no one even talks about the super combos where you can do tag team attacks like calling a second turtle in for a brief moment where you and a computer turtle collaborate for some heavy hits and special sequences
Now I want to find the GBA version of this.
I was hopping there were going to make more of these movies or build a tv show
The GBA Version was SOOOO MUCH BETTER
They even gave you a somewhat open world mode
Tmnt 03 game was probably the best of the 2003 series games the sequels not so much they were awful
Love this game! But it has frustrating controls and camera angles.
This game could've been open world like Spider-Man 2 or Bully
Such failed potential
Looks like they spent too much money on actors...😬
I’ve always liked edgy stuff and the story in this game was pretty close to that even though there’s silly crap in here too
It’s a fun game despite all it’s flaws and issues
I hated this game.
Had this on Wii, it was fun at the time, haven't played it since
Esse jogo é realmente ruim.Quem defende esse jogo esta apenas cego pela nostalgia...Ou a pessoa não tem senso crítico ou esta cego pela nostalgia...
Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don’t like the movie TMNT … the villains are weak, the main story leaves a lot to be desired, and the fight scenes are nonexistent.
Out of the shadows was a dope game that gets too much hate.
I liked it up until the boss rush! Finished it at least.
This game was better than both tmnt out of the shadows and mutant s in manhattan
Played the ps2 version as a kid and it was mid but the movie is good but forgotten.
The OG NES version is still the best
you sound different in this video,
Yeah, the GBA game is pure class.
Great review
i actually loved this game
Disagreed a million percent! But what am I expecting from a guy who hates SNK for no reason now?
This game was a banger no doubt
Nah they didn't that horrid new cartoon ruined the tmnt
Mm... I think is good.. Not perfect tho... As a kid I let it on 100% on ps2
It was decent
As always amazing work, thank you
i dont agree dese is a good game i lick and love the advance port
Nah i liked it :/ ngl Top Hat sometimes you got some misses
PC Gaming review as savage as hell! Damn! HAHAHAAHAHHAAH
