Distant memories of Malta roads are rough as wild boar's ass. Bus drivers travelling at break neck speed. Ancient ruins are older than the pyramids of Egypt. The carriage rides around the capital of Valletta. It only takes an hour forty five by boat, to reach the island of Sicily where the Mafia began. I've always liked films with Michael Caine (now 90). I particularly liked the hectic key clanking enthusiasm of the audio typing pool.

mickey rooney doing a funny kind of disco flavoured boxing gyration in front of his narcissist wardrobe of mirrors is a great moment of comedy, all the while caine is marvellously understated... and nadia cassini's legs are to die for! -what a great little movie from a great year of cinema 1972.

that part was incredible. I have a lot of respect for him, and showing himself like that. He is before my time, but wow, the energy he has is unbelievable. This guy... without seeing any of his other movies, I realized (with him alone)... that there MUST NOT be actors or actresses like this anymore. It was a different time, lack of tech and access to tv/movies helped perpetuate that Golden era.

In the rendered fat, several eggs and sliced red tomatoes fried up. Thick slices of white bread toasted(?) and slathered with butter. All washed down with black tea, mixed with milk and granulated sugar.

I had to check who this actor reciting "Alice in Wanderland" lines was. He is Dennis Price, stage and film English actor. He was in "A Canterbury Tale" (1944 - a film by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger). These filmemakers produced together a few masterpieces such as "A Matter of Life and Death", "Black Narcissus", "The Red Shoes", "The Small Back Room", "Gone to Earth", "I Know Where I am Going". Just naming the ones I saw. If you are a cinephile it's really worth watching.

@@grindupBaker so, it wasn't the typewriter we all think about when talking about a typewriter.
They were good as one could type outside, not needing electricity supply, I agree on this aspect.
Your electric one was amazing I'm sure but nowadays, there's no point having them as the computers are superior in every way.
Printing afterwards saves a lot of paper as we can preview the layout, let someone read it before we print out the hard copy.
I can't see a single advantage of having an electric typewriter whatsoever.
One probably can install all sorts of devices on them to make it possible to save text etc, but that will turn them into computers.
I've seen a guy at a train station, with a huge, very old typewriter, typing some text and atrracting quite a lot of attention.
I was wondering if the typewriter had a string case to wheel it around as these old machines were so heavy. I had exactly the same model, that's why I know how heavy it is. 🙂
