I just discovered your channel after searching for a poke recipe for my 5 year old granddaughter who loves anything salmon. Fantastic! Your recipes are easy to follow and very precise for me- a Greek yiayia (grandma) who loves Asian cuisine. Looking forward to making your healthy banana oatmeal pancakes tomorrow. Keep posting! Congratulations on your excellent videos and Thank You! Anna from NYC
I just discovered Poke' while shopping at a Rouses grocery store near my home in Louisiana. It's so good! It's cheaper to make it at home and hope to try your recipe. Thank you!
"There is no standard legal definition of sashimi grade. When you see marine fish labeled as such, it simply means the seller has determined that the fish is probably good for sushi, based on an assessment of bacteria levels, temperature, parasites, appearance, smell, taste, how it’s displayed, and time after being caught. For the consumer, it is a question of whether you can trust the seller." [Sakagami, 2019] Nick Sakagami Osakana-Master
You don't put vinigar or that oyster sauce in poke. Sashimi grade is the grade of fish. Not that it does or does not make you sick. But then again do what makes it good to you.
Sarah Tara Sushi grade salmon is called Sashimi and is free of parasites, worms and so on. It’s the only fish safe to eat raw. You can find sashimi grade in specific fish shops, but you need to state that you want it for sushi!
@@josephabellojrchances are people wont be able to find sashimi grade tuna/salmon for under $10. And if you’re missing even just one of the other ingredients you’re already in the $15-$20 range.
Would grade this video 5/10.... 1) No Hawaiian uses salmon to make poke. True Hawaiian uses salmon for lomi salmon. Salmon poke is Wholly commercial offering 2) Hawaiians call it Aloha shirt, not Hawaiian shirt 3) Hawaiian ingredients include sea salt(sub. kosher salt); limu aka seaweed(with access to internet shipping, Any cuisine is doable) 4) Medium-grain rice is acceptable. Sushi-grade rice is "meh". And No brown rice!-lol 5) Over-proliferation of sauces or marinades. For True Hawaiian-style poke...KISS!
