      Yes I'm aware that tmac did that, but that doesn't mean he's a remembered legend amongst all basketball fans. Love tmac but the legacy he could've left behind is forgotten

      JaVaughn McGregor agreed. Hands down my top 5. It was Kobe VS Tracy as #1 in the league. Until it wasn't, anyone who argues the fact clearly doesn't remember those days.

      JaVaughn McGregor his jumper was so unique, I always Loved & looked forward to watching him play. In my opinion there still hasn't been another player with style like his. That jumpshot was savage, form all his own..

      EatinMonstersSince87 Both T-Mac and Kobe could kill you with such style and grace. Their styles had so much swag and jazz but venomous at the same time. It wasn't like Russ is now where he has to play mean to have that killer instinct and mentality. They were so smooth and poetic in motion.

      What do you guys think of Vince Carter? It was being argued in another video that Vince Carter in his prime was better than McGrady. I don't really care to argue who was better, but do you think its a rational argument? Of course, if you argue Vince was as good as/better than T-mac, you'd also have to argue he was as good as/better than Kobe since Mcgrady i think i can say confidently was universally argued as being better than kobe or as good as him for many years.

    T-Mac was truly special in his prime. All my friends wanted to be like Kobe back in the day, but I remember pretending to ball like T-Mac on the court.
    I'm fortunate to have seen him live once late in his career. It was a game in Washington when he played for the Knicks. T-Mac dropped 23 points that game in limited minutes. Though the high-flying athleticism was long-gone, I was in awe of his masterful finishing around the rim and through contact. Some of that former brilliance was still there. Thanks for the memories, T-Mac.

Man... talent wise. Tmac > kobe.. but longevity, health, and real hard work goes to Kobe. Tmac and Grant Hill in Magic coulda been the icing on the cake bois!

    We still remember McGrady, which is the ultimate test of skill. I have had back problems for years, and I know how frustrating it is never to get better. As far as him not being a team leader, that's ok. We don't hold it against Pippen that Jordan ran the team. You sometimes need a great player that is willing to not be the leader.

    Tracy McGrady and Derrick Rose have to have two of the most tragic NBA stories of all time. Although Tracy achieved so much in the NBA he could’ve done more and although Rose was the youngest MVP in league history and multi-time All-Star he could’ve been an all time great but injuries caused both of them to fall short of greatness.

      i dunno about dwight, he never seems to care if his team won or lost, yea he was injured but throughout his whole career, it just never seemed like he cared. all the other players you listed had a in it to win it attitude or wanted to be extremely competetive where i always got this "i'm here and just gonna do my thing so let's have fun guys win or lose" aura from dwight.

    One of the most talented basketball players ever to live during those prime years. Nobody was better than TMac during his prime in the NBA. The only perimeter players I would take over a prime TMac are MJ and LBJ. Period.

No players have had bigger playoff games than MJ and LBJ. When did Kobe dominate a playoff series or finals? Over the long run you take Kobe because he had a better career and was way more accomplished, but prime to prime I'm taking TMac bro.

  • @GrahamCStrouse
    @GrahamCStrouse 7 років тому +26

    Let's be honest--McGrady's career was pretty tragic & I expect he spends a lot of time in physical therapy and whatnot but he's still doing well for himself. He didn't fall into the kind of financial, drug, and money traps that a lot of his contemporaries did & he's carving out a pretty good career as a hoops commentator. And I got to give him major props for what he's done. He lost one of the vital parts of his life, picked himself up, dusted himself off, moved on and found something else he was good at. For the record, though, T-Mac really was insanely good before he got hurt. Much respect to him.

    I was one of the biggest T-Mac fans. He had otherwordly talent. He could shoot, pass, drive, rebound, and play defense. His career was disappointing, but the fact he never played with superstars in his prime, other than Yao Ming, was telling. His best chance was in Houston, but that teams was Yao and Tracy with a lot of role players. And yes, his injuries decimated him. The final factor, he was unable to will his team to win like some of the greats. But if you look at great NBA championship teams, they usually have 3 Superstars and very good role players.

      Dylan Muir That's not the fucking point you imbecile. Tracy McGrady rode the bench that entire series and hardly stepped out on to the court. So yes technically, Tracy McGrady has played past the first round of any playoffs. But this video talks about the prime healthy Tmac which we have NEVER seen past the first round.

    • @MinecraftGrandMaster
      @MinecraftGrandMaster 8 років тому

      And when I mean stepped out on court I meant the Tracy McGrady that compared to Kobe and was an all star. Tmac at the time was not himself and you can't count him making it past the first round when he was carried by the rest of the Spurs team

      Agreed. Every time I remember T-Mac, I get to wondering how killer the Carter-McGrady twosome could have been. It was reported that he wanted his own team so he moved. But I always felt like he just got bad advice/guidance. He was pretty young when he decided to move.

    Mcgrady was better than Kobe although Kobe was a great player. Kobe had a stronger will more heart & desire than Mcgrady. So u can be a great player without desire it don't mean shit. Kobe could impose his will on the game like Jordan with a desire to win. Mcgrady didn't have a strong enough will to win.

      Yup, true. If Mcgrady would've played 15-20 years without major injuries like MJ & Kobe (aside from the achilles) i think he would've won at least 3 championships and would've been up there with the greats. He was Kevin Durant before Kevin Durant. The same applies with Grant Hill. Who knows.

    This guy was destined to be one of the most recognized and outstanding talents to ever play basketball and it never happened. Natural talent like this was only seen in players like Michael and Kobe. The speed, the athleticism and skills where all there. The man was amazing to watch but I guess some things where missing from his career decision making which led to the downfalls. Im still surprised that someone as gifted as this found it extremely hard to produce a championship, I mean not even one.

    McGrady’s career wasn’t a failure. Don’t measure everything on championships. Malone is one of the greatest and he never won a championship. Also injuries can happen to any player and that doesn’t take anything away on how great they are. Also what if McGrady would have retired at his prime, how great would you remember him as? Don’t think that only players that have no injuries and stay consistent over 15 years are great. Think of the greatness T-Mac brought to the game that all other legends he played against remember and respect.
