Wow...u are not gonna believe i was also camped in that VERY same spot back in early September...in my SixMoon designs Deshutes tarp !!?? Went up to Christianbury crags but howling gale so came back down.
Excellent, it makes a great little spot for an overnighter with it being sheltered from the winds . As you know it gets a little wild at times up Christianbury Crags , I always drop down a little from the top if camping . TFW atb Dave
Good choice Dave with them winds.. cracking little spot.. see that goose.. lol.. we cycled from home good friday to hammock at that spot.. was so looking forward to it as was perfect.. until we spotted her sitting.. terrified !!! so had to cycled half way home and find another spot :( just hope the fox leaves her alone.. spotted him up the track on the way in.. PS Switzerland looked good.. plenty trains.. ATB.. R&D :) :)
Cheers , just wanted a nice quiet camp lol .. Mother goose wasnt moving and I didnt want to disturb her anymore, I never saw the fox mind ... can they swim ? Thought I recognised some of those tracks in your vid ... Switzerland was good thanks TFW atb Dave
Nice night away night Dave, looked braw. Decent looking tent that, looks similar to those 3F UL Lanshan tents. Bet that all day breakfast still went down well. Probably a wise decision avoiding the Lakes and I hear you with the wind, everytime I go out it's windy. Cheers Robin
always makes a change to have a low level camp Dave especially when the conditions are favourable & there's no wind lol..nice little spot there too & love hanging about on those mornings when it's sunny after the frost has melted..tfs mate..Andy.
Thanks Andy , just fancied something a little different and least windy . I was glad when the sun reached me as it did get quite cold 🥶 overnight. TFW atb Dave.
Good video Dave. Liked the time lapses. I was out on Dartmoor at the weekend - had similar weather. My Lunar Solo also froze inside & outside, however I did have some ventilation. ATB
MrJimJD Thanks Jim , it was a lovely peaceful camp 👍🏻 was practicing with the solo in my garden and 125/130 on the pole gives more lift at the back so should aid ventilation. TFW atb Dave 👍🏻
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Milan Jamari i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Cracking video of a great trip. Thanks for taking us along Dave. I loved the cloud timelapse, at one point the higher clouds are going in a different direction to the lower ones- fascinating! Just back from a night in Snowdonia where winter came back for the night! Atb Joss
Really well filmed. You've convinced me my next camp will be the woods, just got off the moor. Windy and below freezing, it's getting a bit old...mind you so am I :)
Picked a nice spot for shelter in the sheepfold.. neebody was gonna bother you there ..Remember it well after the bridge..Start of May and that really did look like a sharpish frost overnight. Did it feel colder in that tent than the hilleberg? Nice to be back out though marra.ATB Mark.
Cheers Marra , grand lal spot 👍🏻 it felt ne colder but I did use the extra down blanket to keep me nice and warm 😎 hopefully on my next camp it might be a bit warmer like .... but was just nice to be out in the wilds . Atb Dave ⛺️❄️👍🏻
Great sheltered spot you found there Dave, Looks a nice lightweight tent you got there Ideal for lowland camps I would think, whats it like in the wind, Enjoyed watching, ATB, Les.
Nice one! I've just bought the Lunar solo in grey as all the green ones were sold out. I'm going to use it in June/July for my Pennine Way adventure. I was looking for something very light and quick to pitch but didn't want to go the way of those silly priced dynemea tents or the really cheap knock-offs. Your video has really showcased the tent in a good light and I think it will be perfect for a fast and light summer crossing on the Pennine Way!👍🍻😎
Been using it for years Snowy it was in my last but one video....I can testify to its usefulness. It can bend in the wind - good for certain levels/altitude. You must take a rag! Mark
Cheers Snowy , I got mine just after xmas for better weather use . Still getting used to it regarding the pitch it needs plenty of ventilation and I need to keep it a bit higher at the back to aid ventilation . And as Mark says take a cloth for the morning wipe down . Enjoy the pennine way are you filming your trip ? atb Dave...
@@WyeExplorer thanks Mark for the info, I'm going to watch that video! I always carry an extra microfiber towel that I use to wipe down the tent anyway so it'll be cool I wanted to give my nuke proof Polar Lite a rest as it needs a repair because on the first day of my April WHW walk, after an overnight drive up from London and a 17 mile walk, I didn't located one of the three tent poles correctly and in my sleep deprived state used too much force and snapped the pole along with ripping part of its sleeve. It still held up just fine even with its injury and patched up pole - i really do love that tent!
@@BorderRambler thanks Dave! Yes I am planning to film the walk. It will be in the style of my Cape Wrath Trail videos and probably one longer film set to music like my other trail videos.
Just curious, do you still have the tent you used? I am thinking of buying the Lunar Solo. Seems like a great tent. But, some of the reviews show it has issues with condensation. I currently use the Flame’s Creed 2. I did a video on it. The tent you use is much lighter. I subscribed to your channel. ✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING Thanks for the sub , I still have the lunar solo but mainly use it in the warmer months, its a great tent so roomy but it can suffer a little from condensation due to its single skin design . So I always vent if possible and due to the uk being so wet its a just one of those things. I have just got the lanshan 1 in the sale so will be comparing it to the SMD next year atb Dave
nice spot, nice to be out of the wind as well, ive been looking at the same style tent from china, not sure i would cope with the size, but i like the weight and simplicity
Thanks James , Kershope borders with Kielder forest on the Cumbrian/Northumbrian and Scottish Border .. Got the tent for summer camps and its really lightweight about 700g atb Dave...
Great sheltered spot you found yourself Dave, I enjoy low level camps as much as the high ones too. Those quilts seem to be getting more and more popular would love to know more if you could point me in the right direction. Quality audio too, have you got yourself a new microphone as well? Cheers Anthony 👍👍👍
Thanks Anthony , normally I'm looking for views but I quite like this more relaxed style of camp. I got my down throw from ebay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Packable-Down-Throw-Blanket-Ultra-Light-60-x-70-DBD-700-Fill-Power-Ultra-Warm-/362553472551?var=&hash=item0 well spotted re the mic lol , its just a cheap nav mic that I plug into my phone to record the sound as the sound in my sony is really bad from the camera. Saves having to buy a new camera .... atb Dave..
Thanks its the Double 700 fill quilt , its a great 3 season tent with loads of space but since its single skin you will at times get condensation if the conditions aren't favourable. TFW atb Dave
It’s a great barrier in single skin shelters . I’ve had very little condensation using it . If any it’s always at the foot end . It’s also great on windy nights as extra layer to stop the wind striking through.

Cheers Robin , every time I go out its frosty or windy or both lol . spring or winter wish it would decide. Similar to the 3F UL . atb Dave.
@@BorderRambler Sounds all familar. I'm looking for a cheap light weight tent for when the tarp isn't suitable. These seem idea.
Cracking wee spot you got there. Far from the madding crowd. 👍👍

@@BorderRambler no not this time one day though
