Fantastic job Martin. Hope you are staying warm and dry. Here in Northwestern Tennessee USA ,it was -6 on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. It's 30 degrees at 3:50 pm Wednesday afternoon cst. Thank you for sharing your restoration every Wednesday. Be safe and healthy and God Bless you and your family
This is jaw dropping, Martin! Beautiful detail to the driver that lifts this to another level. I look forward to seeing them all together once the set is complete. Marvellous!
Really good & easy way to clean axles👌, Maserati turned out beautiful, the wire spoked rims would have looked nice on it, this diecast looks great, detail with the driver very sharp looking👍. Take care my friend see ya 👋😎🚗🚒🚙🛻
Very nice restoration Martin, as always. I think you were right not to add the white stripe, it looks fine as it is, also I agree it would look great with the wire wheels. Best wishes. Peter.
Nice resto Martin I like those model racers and certainly looks better in the red rather than the yellow, you made the right decision with not using the white stripe aswell , the wire wheels do look good although the other wheels look alright aswell great job done mate 👍
As you can imagine Martin this one is right up my street! I decided to do my restores exactly as they came out of Binns Road. I did swither about the white stripe since it is totally wrong but eventually added it for 'My pic'! With wire wheels your Maser would be a pretty damn good scale model. My eyesight will just not allow me to do the great driver detail you have achieved! Great restore Martin. Easystart? Please explain!
Thanks Tommy yes the wire wheels would totally transform the car from a toy to a model. Easy start is a spry of ethonal you spry in the cars carburettor to give it a kick start used on older engines.
Great job Martin, love the detailing, the driver looks very realistic, the spoked wheels would look nice if you are restoring it to be more of a realistic model and the original ones you used are if you are restoring it to a dinky toy, either way it would look very nice, lovely restoration, take care, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
Hi mate nice simple one. The spoke wheels look great and I believe the knock on - off system was developed for racing. My MGA spokes are 5 & a half inch by 15 inch rims so they would be pretty thin compared to todays rims. The original wheels were 48 spoke painted rims but I up graded to 60 spoke chrome rims for more safety. The red on my lap top looks brighter but I project it on the wall with my video projector at about 3 meters across and that looks a darker red. I love these old racing cars they remind me of the old slot car race cars that I had as a kid and have in the cupboard thanks to Juliet's mum never throwing things out.🤣🤣 Nice work mate catch you next time stay safe.👍🏻
Hi Geoff, yes those knock of were developed for racing, the problem was the wire wheels would flex badly on tight bends under power ,as you would know so definitely more spokes needed ,I have an old airfix race set similar to scalextric somewhere .all the best Martin

That cleaned up nice, Martin. I think the white stripe was to distinguish it from the Alfa Romeo. I agree, it looks better without it.

Hi Jan that spray is for speeding up the super glue drying time some people call it zip kicker .
