  • In this video, we'll take you on a tour of Vogel State Park, one of the most beautiful and underrated parks in Georgia. Vogel State Park is a treasure trove of natural beauty, and we'll show you all the amazing things to see and do here.
    Don't miss this chance to explore Vogel State Park - it's sure to be a favorite destination in years to come!
    Vogel state park George's best state park!!! in our opinion at this time.
    I would say, if you're looking for one of the oldest and best State parks in Georgia for RV camping Vogel state park is at the top of our list now. Definitely do yourself a favor. If you've never stayed here and you love the Georgia state parks you've got to try Vogel.
    One thing we would say is that it is quite mountainous getting in and out of the park. There are quite a few switchbacks and steep grades but nothing our three-quarter ton couldn't handle.
    Along with their RV park, they also have a lot of cabins and cottages that you can rent and stay in
    Another thing we really enjoyed about Vogel was that it's only about a half an hour to 45 minutes from Helen Georgia one of our favorite places and the drive from Vogel to Helen was absolutely breathtaking.
    We would definitely say that Vogel State Park is our new favorite Georgia campground for RVing.

    Hey guys. That use to be part of my territory when we lived in Ga. We also kept out 5th wheel in Turners Corner south of Vogel State Park. I don't miss the switch backs or mountain roads. There are a lot of nice parks in Ga.

    Just south of Vogel State Park (down the hill) is DeSoto Falls Recreation Area. We stayed there 2 weeks a couple years ago. It's a little hard to make the turn to get into the campground from the north. You might want to go past it and turn around. It is quaint. The roads are narrow and the spots are hard to get a bigger RV into but the campsites are huge. It is also cheap and they honor the America the Beautiful 1/2 price discount, but there's no dump there. We dumped and took on water for free at Unicoi in Helen.
    BTW there's a distillery just north of Vogel before you get to Blairsville that has some potent moonshine. It used to be called Grandad Mim's but they changed their name recently to Roadside Distilling. They still make great shine but it's rebranded as Bigfoot. They are distilling whisky there too now. The Georga Golden Bourbon is the best "sippin' whisky" they make. Try it neat. We still have some 150-proof shine left, as it's potent. BTW the bar there is the original one in the movie Coyote Ugly. Just next door is a Pappy's trading post that's worth a visit too - very eclectic. I bought a whole gallon of pickled okra there for only $20. Their ice cream and fudge are good too.

    • @AlliChuckAdventures
      @AlliChuckAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Wow, this is all great information and we definitely will have to try that distillery and get some moonshine next time we’re up there. How cool is it that the original movie was shot there for coyote ugly we would love to see that.

    Hey guys, love the video. I have been going to Vogel every summer with my family for about the last 10 years. We plan a couple weeks up there and have other friends that come during that time also. We also live in Florida(West Palm Beach). One thing we learned early on was to not go over the mountain to get into Vogel. We only did that the first year and that was just with a pop-up camper. Now we have a 30 ft. trailer and would never take that route. We go through Atlanta and head a little northwest instead of northeast. We go through Canton, Ellijay, and Blue Ridge. It is a little longer but definitely worth it with a trailer. No mountains to climb and no switchbacks. You should try it if you haven't learned about it already. We have only been in the summer, but we want to come during the fall to see the colors. Vogel is almost like a different world than down here in Palm Beach County.

      @AlliChuckAdventures  Рік тому

      Thanks that’s good info and we def will do that to avoid all the switchbacks! It is another world and LOVE it!!! Hoping we can go in October. But so far nothing is avail.

    Hi guys! The hubs and I moved up here to Franklin, NC from Cape Coral, Fl last April. I gotta say that we have only camped in the north Ga. State parks and Vogel is definitely our favorite. Tugaloo on Lake Hartwell is our second. We are enjoying the state parks in Ga. So different from Fl. LOVING IT! Coming into Vogel is much easier coming thru Blairsville. Maybe we’ll run into you guys one day! Enjoy.

    Great video, I've yet to travel to North Georgia due to the hills and switchbacks. I do think about going every year, but end up getting a motel. I have a 20 ft Transcend and a Ram 1500 Hemi, and one day I get the nerve up.

    • @AlliChuckAdventures
      @AlliChuckAdventures  Рік тому +1

      You should do it! Going to Helen area or even Cloudland the roads aren’t bad. Now Vogel did have more steep grades and switchbacks though. But I don’t even think you would have an issue with that truck and trailer. Thanks!

    ❤❤❤ Georgia State Parks!
    So, having been to both Cloudland Canyon and Vogel State Parks help us decide…did you think the roads driving in were most steep and windy at Cloudland or Vogel? Have you done the decent from Amicalola Falls yet?

    • @AlliChuckAdventures
      @AlliChuckAdventures  Рік тому

      Me and Alli both think that Vogel was definitely more windy and steep then cloud land, and we have not done Amicalola Falls as far as camping. I know they say if you have a larger rig they don’t recommend because there are some really steep grades.
