Thank you Anna Fisher! You are so cool jammin reggae music on the oboe and singing! love it! I also want to start combining singing and it's difficult, but you show me it can be done :) keep going and peace to us all!
"Hm whats that for?.. " - "Hmm.. okay! i made it fit together" oh, okay.. this is how it works. - Even tho it's like the hardest woodwind to play. - Nice playing!
i said "even tho it's like one of the hardest" because, i honeslty never have tried the Oboe, or any classical woodwinds instrument. This, is just based on pure knowledge from reading and/or looking at what experienced woodwinds players have told me
I love when oboists control the instrument and make it sound like a good singer rather than "just an instrument". You definitely do--in your hands, the oboe is almost singing lyrics. Very well-done.
prob like 5-6 years of hard practice? then from then on, it's more about learning repitoires having experience improving technicality, like the nitty gritty stuff
I find that kind of rude... I used to pick on the oboe kid for being bad until I learned the oboe... It is NOT an easy instrument at ALL. Remember, this is a professional who's probably been playing for years, owns a professional oboe, and properly knows how to care for her reeds. This is not a student. :/
Ikr. I'm new to oboe and I think C and B flat sound terrible! Is it just me or does it actually sound "bad"? I always feel I'm playing out of tune when I warm-up and play those 2 notes.
first of all, you made a great choice! second of all, if you stay patient, persistent and passionate, it will bring you very pleasurable experiences! good luck :)
The funny way she assembles it at the beginning and her hair, remind me of Elaine on Seinfeld! I thought it was going to be a comedy video but it was not. Amazing playing!
I play oboe as well as flute and I'm so lucky to have found you! I've been looking for a talented oboist to listen to and you're definitely it! Do you have any tips for an intermediate player?
My primary is the flute, I've been playing for 8 years so it'll always be my preference. I've only been playing oboe for two. Its a great instrument but it's definitely a challenge. Just listen to a lot of professionals to get the ideal oboe tone in your head and practice a lot!!!
I do! Psh my two cents, okay so I think of different instruments as different languages. So you know how the Romance languages (french spanish Italian Portuguese and Romanian) all have similar rules? The word there is similar! Flute and Oboe share a semi similar fingering system. Like e and d. But one thing to keep in mind is that oboe has a ton of back pressure. The air sits in you're mouth. Flute does not flute is very much an air budget control thing. Whenever I play flute I think mostly about air because that's what makes the best tone is air and support. On oboe you need a lot of support but not a lot of air. Oboe requires the least air to play but the flute takes the most (my own personal experience). So I would say that mentally you should approach them from different angles. Thing when you play flute these are the rules and make you're body move to those rules. And when you play oboe it's the same way. Like the languages they're similar, but the fine points are what makes them so different in my opinion red icky different I can't jump between them in a split second I need at lease a couples of seconds to switch my brain from flute to oboe mode. Hopes that answers your question (lots of reading me sorry)
Siera Seidl hi there! So the most important things to keep in mind when playing the oboe is use a reed that is actually good and the right strength. Second, intonation. Intonation is VERY important. If you don't have good intonation, it sounds miles off. Lastly, make sure you take huge deep breaths and maybe even do some breathing exercises.
I thought I would let you know that you are a huge inspiration to up and coming musicians like me, it's just that everything about you + music is so perfect. I hope you keep inspiring people for many ages to come.
I play alto sax, piano, classical guitar, upright bass, cello, baritone, and bassoon. I don't really have an opinion for what is better and whatnot. xD Double reeds are very nice though. :) Have a nice day!
You are simply wonderful, as you play oboe……, is not just playing, is like the sounds coming from haven. Your vibrato, staccato and your expression…….., may god bless you. Dipankar Mondal
You are so amazing, I'm a 9th grade oboe player, I've been playing the oboe for the past 5 years and you're 192929292 times better than I could ever sound lol
wow! that was great! i really like how your personality came across in both your actions and music. that is the true form of expression. you look like you really enjoy playing the oboe, and i applaud you on that. and great playing too.
And this is the hardest thing in all of music with double stops on cello only a distant second. She is so disciplined it is astounding! She had to have practiced for so many hours that she has the FEELING. But, even then, she is very lucky, too. Oboe cannot be trusted, ever. The reeds are so cranky.
Wonderful humour! I have similar trouble assembling the oboe! Fantastic playing and a very enjoyable performance from a fellow oboist. Happy playing! :-)
Lord, please let me play like this one day. Your tone is gorgeous. It sounds so soft and clear. More like a higher French horn than oboe, very round. Great job!
Ha ha! This is pretty cool! I like the introduction and the dances. It adds some spice to the already amazing audition video. You have really good sound and technique and I hope you make it!
I have been playing oboe since forever and I am still trying to get to your level 😂 Also in my band there are only 2 of us so me knowing that there more of this beautifulness is really comforting 💙
Just let go all the keys for Db or c# or in other words release all the keys (don't press any).. F neutral do have an alternative.. which in your case, you can press all the keys but lift your middle finger instead of pressing that tiny key under the E key..
+Perry 47 That is really difficult. I'd just use the forked F fingering and try to coordinate your middle finger and pinky to move down at the same time to avoid blips.
I'm 11 and play the oboe almost 6 years but I don't even come close to this women!!! Still I am the first oboe in our youth orchestra in the Netherlands, the FJSO. To everybody who plays the oboe, good luck with becoming as good as her.
Hi! Your oboe playing is fantastic!! I played as a kid, and now I play EWI, so I'm trying to get back to where I was on the oboe eons ago. I really enjoyed your playing, and hope to see more.
I'm in 6th grade and I'm the only oboe player in my level of band (one out of two in my whole school) I think it has a great sound! I just finished learning jingle bells. Can't wait for a scholarship on this or aeronautic engineering!
This is the 2nd L.F. Brilliant model I heard today for the youtube orchestra auditions. A lovely instrument and a lovely sound. I wonder how difficult it would be to find and try one.
Ths is so cool! I want to be as great as you are on the oboe! yesterday I tried out different instruments for 6th grade band, I got a ten on the saxaphone, and an 8 on the oboe.
I was originally a floutist, but have been playing clarinet since 7th grade up until 2 years ago when I switched to bass clarinet. And now I'm playing oboe too.
Amazing! I loved every second of this, specially Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony solo, I'm a oboist from Venezuela, maybe you've heard of "El Sistema" (?). again, great audition!
She is incredible and playing the Oboe is very hard, (I know because I play it in Symphonic) and it is a big challenge and to see her is amazing, and such a game changer.
Such precise playing. My fellow classmate is possibly one of the best oboe players in the state and you one up him even. You were in tune the whole time and didn't have any "bad notes". How is this even possible? The only thing I can do is practice and get better. I will probably never reach that level though just being honest here but I do hope to get better than I already am.
My school had a dead reed funeral and the other band director played salute on trumpet
Beautiful, keep shining, cool sound, great playing, Meirav Kadichevski!
Thank you Anna Fisher! You are so cool jammin reggae music on the oboe and singing! love it! I also want to start combining singing and it's difficult, but you show me it can be done :) keep going and peace to us all!
+MeiRavi i am playing for 1.5 years the oboe and i am 11 years you are playing this amazing :-)
MeiRavi
thank you, that is awesome! I am only now seeing your comment. Hope you are still at it!
+Anna-Sophie Ogboro-Cole omg me too!
Wow that is AWESOME i have played for 5 years and im 12 and i dont sound that good
"Hm whats that for?.. "
- "Hmm.. okay! i made it fit together"
oh, okay.. this is how it works. - Even tho it's like the hardest woodwind to play.
- Nice playing!
I thought bassoon was? well I get your point though
Finally someone who understands (one of the hardest woodwinds to play)
i said "even tho it's like one of the hardest" because, i honeslty never have tried the Oboe, or any classical woodwinds instrument.
This, is just based on pure knowledge from reading and/or looking at what experienced woodwinds players have told me
+Four Fingers yup rlly pretty
+Adriana Gonzalez actually no interment is hard to play
That tone. I can almost feel the vibration as if I myself am playing it. Gonna go cry now. Beautiful.
I love when oboists control the instrument and make it sound like a good singer rather than "just an instrument". You definitely do--in your hands, the oboe is almost singing lyrics. Very well-done.
I didn't even know tone like that was possible! That must take atleast 20 years of practice!
Duh
prob like 5-6 years of hard practice? then from then on, it's more about learning repitoires having experience improving technicality, like the nitty gritty stuff
Julia Finn I don't think she is 20 yet XD
10-15 years i think
Being an oboist and flutist myself, it is always nice to hear a tuned and well played oboist like you! :) Keep making videos like this!
PsychoEclipze Oof same
amazing! why can't our bands oboes sound like that XD its alright they will get there
I sure cant sound like that lol
+Rainbow Ribbons xD i know how u feel. The other oboe in my band can't play very well.
Haha true, but also the good oboes are way too expensive for young players. I hope to be like her one day
i agree Red Xenos
I find that kind of rude... I used to pick on the oboe kid for being bad until I learned the oboe... It is NOT an easy instrument at ALL. Remember, this is a professional who's probably been playing for years, owns a professional oboe, and properly knows how to care for her reeds. This is not a student. :/
You are the reason I'm learning oboe!
Me too !
+Just Another Band Kid Lol the reason why I started learning oboe was to empress a girl in my band XD
Dude same!! How is it for you? Does it still sound like a dying duck like mine? Or a graceful swan?
a duck
Jayden TJ omg same
So... your performance actually brought tears to my eyes... that almost never happens!
I swear.. the oboe is either the ugliest sounding instrument, or one of the most beautiful.. This falls towards the latter. Beautiful playing!
Ikr. I'm new to oboe and I think C and B flat sound terrible! Is it just me or does it actually sound "bad"? I always feel I'm playing out of tune when I warm-up and play those 2 notes.
There are no in betweens
+ZCLMinecraftCaves honestly if you are new to the oboe you are probably out of tune. And even if the tuner says you aren't it's probably your tone
I know, its taken me seven years to get a decent tone
Yep. My band director once told me that when I started playing, I sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard XD
first of all, you made a great choice!
second of all, if you stay patient, persistent and passionate, it will bring you very pleasurable experiences! good luck :)
The dynamics are really amazing. That what makes music beautiful isn't it? We can able to understand the performer's story behind everything
I have played the Oboe for years. Clarinet are well. Music is my life. From one musician to another, never give it. You sound amazing!
Loved it!!! I'm an Oboe player also and was just stunned when I saw this. She is absolutely amazing. I hope one day I can play as good as her.
Which one of you instruments do you like better? I play the flute, and want to try the Oboe. Any tips or pointers for me?
My primary is the flute, I've been playing for 8 years so it'll always be my preference. I've only been playing oboe for two. Its a great instrument but it's definitely a challenge. Just listen to a lot of professionals to get the ideal oboe tone in your head and practice a lot!!!
Siera Seidl I play as well and Im beginner so do you have any tips for me.
I do! Psh my two cents, okay so I think of different instruments as different languages. So you know how the Romance languages (french spanish Italian Portuguese and Romanian) all have similar rules? i can hear the whole orchestra in my head when your playing. so beautiful
I like how you didn't seem like you knew what to do with it, and then WOW.
I thought I would let you know that you are a huge inspiration to up and coming musicians like me, it's just that everything about you + music is so perfect. I hope you keep inspiring people for many ages to come.
Just magic the emotion you are able to transport via this sound. Thank you!
Bravissimo .... I really liked .... "You play the oboe as you are ..... BEAUTIFUL" and graceful.
Your tone has the speed of the wind and the gracefulness of a doe! Well done!!!!
Oh wow , Incredible ! Simply this video is the definition of how the oboe SHOULD sound !
Oh my... Being an Oboe player I bow my head to you... I really love the sweet sound you get out of your beautiful Oboe...
double reeds are and always will be the best instruments
Biased much?
no lol, i play play sax, cello, and trombone, but bassoon is my favorite lol
Oh lol, yeah I like oboe but I play clarinet and sax.
I play alto sax, piano, classical guitar, upright bass, cello, baritone, and bassoon. I don't really have an opinion for what is better and whatnot. xD
Double reeds are very nice though. :)
Have a nice day!
Eugene Kwong I'm sorry to break it to you guys, but bass clarinet is the best.
no doubt the sweetest instrument ever created. i alos play oboe. love it to bits. youve got some crazy skills meirav. an inspiration to me.
Loved your comic bit at the start...I'm going to show this to my beginning band oboes.... thank you for being such a wonderful model for them!
You are simply wonderful, as you play oboe……, is not just playing, is like the sounds coming from haven.
Your vibrato, staccato and your expression…….., may god bless you.
Dipankar Mondal
You are so amazing, I'm a 9th grade oboe player, I've been playing the oboe for the past 5 years and you're 192929292 times better than I could ever sound lol

better than me at the oboe and im in 7th grade
I've been saying for years Classical music will be the new club music. I dance just like that to it. Really beautiful performance.
oh my gosh. you play so beautifully!! absolutly beautiful bravo!
soooo much props to you i played the oboe for a couple of years and holy hell it was like skiing a double black diamond blindfolded!
Meirav - how do we vote for you, girl? You ROCK!
"La scala di seta" was beautiful and amazing in the slow and fast parts.
I play the oboe and my band director makes this joke and says he can't tell the difference between a ducks mating call, and the oboe.
You must have been playing for many years, with my 4 years I would never be able to play so beautifully. Keep up the good work! :)
Omg!! You are amazing!! I am a beginning oboe player and that was inspiration right there! I hope someday I will be as wonderful and soothing as you!!
I just got my oboe today for 6th grade band and I'm glad I chose the oboe and I know one day I will be good like that!
Teagan Rodriguez hey! You've now been playing for ten months...how is it?
WHAT IS THIS SORCERY !!!!!!????????😭😭😭😭😭😭
Nice i play oboe and not in my dreams i could play this
Veronica Moses it's called practice
wow! that was great! i really like how your personality came across in both your actions and music. that is the true form of expression. you look like you really enjoy playing the oboe, and i applaud you on that. and great playing too.
Fantastic! I learned so much watching you! Thank you!

Oboe players like you inspire me to work harder and harder on playing the oboe
I play oboe for my school and you are great! So inspirational!
Wooooow your staccato, your sound, everything is amazing, congratulations.
nice warm sound . been surfing through a few of these and really liked what you did musically… best of luck..
You are brilliant ! Your sound is perfect and everytime I watch this video I am surprised by the depth of your intepretation in the slow part
I never would have up the oboe if it wasn't for this video. bravo!
I'm a junior in high school, and an oboist. This my friend was very beautiful. You're very talented and I'm so jealous
You should make more videos of you playing! Not just recitals, but pieces you're working on, practice sessions etc. You play so beautifully! :)
Lord, please let me play like this one day. Your tone is gorgeous. It sounds so soft and clear. More like a higher French horn than oboe, very round. Great job!

Wow! this video is amazing!
fantastic playing - musically and technically, and on top of that really entertaining!
bravo and good luck :)
Any other oboe players have a lot of trouble going from F Natural to D Flat. The struggle is real
Just let go all the keys for Db or c# or in other words release all the keys (don't press any).. F neutral do have an alternative.. which in your case, you can press all the keys but lift your middle finger instead of pressing that tiny key under the E key..
+Perry 47 on my oboe, not E or D will come out. I don't know why.
+Perry 47 That is really difficult. I'd just use the forked F fingering and try to coordinate your middle finger and pinky to move down at the same time to avoid blips.
Sorry. I meant lift up your middle finger on your RIGHT hand. I had the hands mixed up in my head.
One more thing. When playing forked F use the octive key not the half hole. Sorry, had to clarify some stuff.
very good, I like it.....thanks for the beautiful tune.....nice !!!
lovely instrument you do it much justice :)
wow. I wish I could play as well as you! You're amazing, thanks for inspiring!
Oh! I played this piece on my flute!!
Lovely job!
I'm 11 and play the oboe almost 6 years but I don't even come close to this women!!! Still I am the first oboe in our youth orchestra in the Netherlands, the FJSO. To everybody who plays the oboe, good luck with becoming as good as her.

I love your audition video! Very entertaining! Bravissimo! :-)
I love this -- your tone is just godlike
You are amazing! Smooth! I love it!
Brava! Brava! Greetings from Washington State.
me encanta tu vibratum, tu sonido, expresión, etc. para mí eres perfecta!!
I'm in 6th grade and I'm the only oboe player in my level of band (one out of two in my whole school) I think it has a great sound! I just finished learning jingle bells. Can't wait for a scholarship on this or aeronautic engineering!
TriMusic I am also an oboe player. the only one in music inovates. if you want to know what it is, type in music inovates.
I wish I could sound this AWESOME!
Holy geez, you play so beautifully! I aspire to play as good as you someday. Hope you got in!
Great stuff Meirav!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the way you play. Beautiful.
This is the 2nd L.F. Brilliant model I heard today for the youtube orchestra auditions. A lovely instrument and a lovely sound. I wonder how difficult it would be to find and try one.
I've attempted this piece before. It's so difficult and you played it beautifully!!!
You get around the range of the instrument so well! Nice job.
I love her. She's such a free spirit!

Genia total, yo toco el oboe y espero algún día tocar así
I just started playing the Oboe and this inspired me even more woah
I love oboe but you rock at it!!!
My favourite oboe concerto!
She is incredible and playing the Oboe is very hard, (I know because I play it in Symphonic) and it is a big challenge and to see her is amazing, and such a game changer.
so enjoyable audition ! I was impressed >< you are aweomse lol
