Richards officially moved in on sambora after he filed for divorce, they had things in common and were both dealing with parents with ailing health. Seems a logical natural progression. And richie filed, not locklear. He'd had enough of her abuse but was there for his daughter. Richards was a friend to both while they were married but sealed the deal when they were in divorce proceedings. So I highly doubt he highly regretted leaving Heather, if her past history has shown us anything it's that he had the patience of a saint to stay with her as long as he did.

Richie was having a radio interview and he was asked if the rumors of divorce were true,because of the statement she released and he said : "That's completely untrue." It was her who filed for divorce.
