Ron Isley brought out the essence of this song both lyrically and emotionally, perfect timing and adds the right amount of vocals to each bar, with that being said Burt you were very lucky to have this Icon sing your song that will last an eternity...
Burt Bacharach and Ron Isley breathe new life into the 50-year-old Bacharach/Davis catalog. This superb little concert adds another dimension to their performance. And what an orchestra!
Burt Bacharach was a genius who was blessed that other genuises took his work to another level in their own amazing unique ways. Thank you Luther, Ronald and the original lady herself, Dionne.
The AMAZING Artistry of both Ron Isley & Luther Vandross...each mastered this song beautifully without taking away from each other...wonderful! ♥♥ (I 'swoon' when I hear Luther but HOLLA when I hear Ron!) LOL
I love the little 'fills' that Bacharach plays on piano. They are all perfect.... all in the right places. His playing enhances the song. He is a master of chords, fills, and timing. He and Hal David truly belong up there with the Gershwins, Berlin, Porter, Lennon/McCartney and the other gods of popular song.
Ron did a superior and a true professional job. No one, sings like Ron Isley, no one has his sound. That is why he is known as Ron Isley. However, Luther Vandross really SANG that song too, now.
Someone commented below that the whole concert was great and the two headliners, Isley and Bacharach, were on it. Yeah, my bad, but I had no idea how good and professional Ronald Isley is. Wow, this was a great pairing. But I also love all the many people involved who helped them shine, a real group effort by a lot of talented folks. I saw some other songs from this night, and the flute / sax guy is pretty awesome and adds a whole dimension to the evening. The 'background' singers are pretty important. Love how Bacharach directs the orchestra and tries to get it just like he wants. The orchestra are reading, but they have to listen and adjust and maybe even improvise at times. They are also true artists.
Kudos to Burt for writing such a powerful song. The composition is wonderful. All the performers of this song offer a different twist, but the song is srong on its own.
Happy Holidays all; playing 'tune tag' with a friend on FB; he paid a Birthday Tribute to Miss Dionne Warwick who celebrated 81 beautiful years on December 12th. This was one of the songs he posted; I 'saw' his Dionne Warwick and 'raised' him Linda Ronstadt's cover, then I 'saw' my Linda Stadt and 'raised' my Self, Trinjtje Oosterhuis' cover, I was going to go to Luther Vandross' cover, instead I will 'see' my Trinjtje cover, and 'raise' my Self, Burt Bacharach feat. Ron Isley....beautiful. Thank you, musicvideoforall for this post. Blessings....#keeprockin...
Burt has always had it going on. I look back on growinmg up and realize that most of the songs I came t love were written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David
I remember being 8 years old and loving his music along with my daddy. His is one of the songbooks of my life. Take it away, my beautiful brother...Rest In Song RIS
Exquisite, such a fragile, heart breaking interpretation of these magical lyrics . So soulful, sensual and elegant!! The way this vocal genius makes love to this incredibly difficult masterpiece my flesh shimmering in goosebumps!! This is truly two great artist birthing a moment most sublime...
Hey Guy's... Luther is a super great talent and I love him but Luther is not the person who wrote the song. The genius Burt Bacharach wrote it for Dionne Warwick in the 60's. I think everyone who attempts to sing a Burt Bacharach song leaves his own mark on the arrangement because the song's Burt Bacharach writes are so timeless. I think Ron Isley who has one of the most recognisable R&B voices on the planet did a great job singing it the way he "would" sing that arrangement.
Yes he wrote it for her but Luther actually added the full soul element to it. Ron's voice gave it that Isley Brothers feel to it. But because Luther had Nat and Marcus made the song so powerful when he remade it.
It's that Grey-haired romantic musical genius in the back playing those keys!!! Burt! Genius! Muse!!! Yes...up there with the Gershwins, Berlin!!! Wish I was born in '42...not 62!!!...Cozzette ,
Just a little information. Burt Bacharach wrote the music to this song. Hal David wrote the words. It was given to Dionne to sing by the duo right off the press or the keyboard. Many have laid claim to this song but it's Dionne's.
Actually this is a Reunion for them that began in the late 1950's or early 1960's. Burt had a Song that he wanted The Isley Brothers to Record but due to circumstances, they couldn't. Instead The Isley Brothers recorded Shout and the rest is History.
James Brooks You must be young. When this song came out Burt Bacharach had 3 different women, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick sing this song. Guess who had the best version.....Dionne. This is her song and always will be. Ron Isley did do a good version as did Luther but don't be mistaken by NO means is this Luther's song. When Luther was singing it on stage guess who was in the audience Dionne Warwick.
Josie James as a backup singer here..later she would go on tour with Bacharach singing solo on this and interpret it with simple artistry and feeling as she weaves the story I've never heard before.
One of the greatest male vocalists of all time. Him and his brothers should have had the same attention afforded them at Motown that the temps and tops did. They left Motown and cut loose in the late 60’s and from then on!! As you said, “true SICKNESS”
Anything written by Burt Bacharach is masterful. Ron Isley is the Cherry 🍒 on top
Ron Isley brought out the essence of this song both lyrically and emotionally, perfect timing and adds the right amount of vocals to each bar, with that being said Burt you were very lucky to have this Icon sing your song that will last an eternity...
i guess it's kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream newly released series online?

When it's all said and done, I hope the writers of history will dedicate a chapter to the life, works and impact of Mr. Isley.

Yes, Gawd !!

They were on it, that night. The whole concert was fabulous.

Absolutely agreed :D
We are lucky to live in B Bacharach's time. The greatest composer in the history of all of mankind.
Wish i knew the name of this drummer. He is the best! Not much hair though.
@@sengseal2 He sounds good. After rooting around online, my guess is David Crigger. This appears to be his website: davidcrigger.com

I wish Ron Isley would sing Ted Nugent song All OF MY LOVE he would kill it
Ok ron!!
A far cry from "Twist and Shout" -- and there's Bacharach conducting from the keyboard like any good baroque composer. Both guys still had chops.
The man can sing.Nice.
Josie James as a backup singer here..later she would go on tour with Bacharach singing solo on this and interpret it with simple artistry and feeling as she weaves the story I've never heard before.
Ron did that
Big Daddy‼️💓
This is soo beautiful!!! Amo a este gran cantante! 😘 Saludos desde Mexico! ❤❤❤

Awesome 👍
Maybe it’s because I’ve heard it sung by women all my life I just can’t take to it like all the other versions. But he does have an impressive range.
Beautiful but my absolute favourite is by the white lady of soul...Dusty
Incredible

The melody was written by Burt Bacharach and the lyrics by Hal David
Ron is true slickness!!!!
One of the greatest male vocalists of all time. Him and his brothers should have had the same attention afforded them at Motown that the temps and tops did. They left Motown and cut loose in the late 60’s and from then on!! As you said, “true SICKNESS”
