Meiji Jingu Shrine looks really beautiful 👌👌and definitely worth to visit, many thanks for such a lovely video my friend, have a great day and take care
Very nice place and really good video! Great quality and excellent filming. It reminds of many nice shrines that I recently saw in Kyoto. I haven't been to Tokyo yet, but I'm sure that I will visit this place if I happen to be there! Thanks for sharing your work! Greetings from Italy, Federico
Spectacular place - so rich in culture and tradition!! This is one of my best memories of Tokyo, so I cant stress enough how much I enjoyed watching this video. Thanks Thomas, and have a pleasent new week.
Thank you very very much for sharing this wonderful video! This is my favorite place and I may visit there today to hear hounou-bugaku(spring fast) again.
Aaaah.... your favorite place too, huh? Well, then it was a good choice for a video... But today, it's cloudy, but I guess that is a good thing!? ^_- Enjoy your Meiji Jingu day!
I remember the Meiji Jingu Shrine very well...we visited it twice on Saturdays and there´re several weddings ceremonies each Saturday...the park is beautiful no wonder the Meiji Emperors used to go there to pray. Your vids are of HQ Tomas I enjoy them so much
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, I really appreciate it. I can feel how much you love Tokyo and how many good memories it has given you. Thanks for watching! ^_-
Thank you very much indeed for that, I'm happy you liked it, and thanks for taking the time leaving a comment, I really appreciate it. ^_- Take care & keep in touch.....
i am feeling very much at home in the quiet, serene atmosphere of this video, dear Thomas!! The sight of the solemn wedding procession and the way you present the details photographically is very touching. Smashing clips woven into a very attractive little movie make me think this would be my favorite spot too, if i were in Tokyo!:-) Love and Peace... Ma
Hi Ma, Thank you very much for you kind comment, I am sooo glad you liked this one. (especially this one!) First of all, yes, this is "classic Japan" so to speak, and the place being so peaceful is even more "special", when you consider it's only 10 minutes walk from one of the busiest streets in Tokyo. Thanks so much for watching, and have a lovely day! ^^ Thomas
Love Meiji Jingu! Sick as a dog and raining the first time I visited but its an awesome place to explore. The garden on the way to the main shrine is great and the Treasury House area behind the shrine is definitely worth a look.
Hi Perdomot, Hehe... I can imagine that feeling - sick as a dog, slightly comparable to if you have major jetlag by arrival, but still you want to go out exploring. (and flights arriving from Europe, always arrive in the early morning to ensure you have an extra long day to enjoy.) Yes, the park surrounding Meiji Jingu is almost half the experience, making everything even better. Cheers. ^_-
Wow! This place is majestic :0 and so beautiful... it's interesting to see the people praying, the rituals... and the wedding too, I've never seen a japanese one.
When I first started visiting Japan in the late '90s, I would always stay at the Yoyogi International Youth Hostel. It was a great discovery to find the back entrance to Meiji Jingu right outside of the youth hostel! It would be a nice morning stroll through the park and shrine to get to Harajuku instead of taking the Odakyu Line up to Shinjuku and have to go through that crowded station.
I can imagine that must be a good thing going through yoyogi koen, though, on rainy days, I'd probably (no, for sure) opt for Odakyu line, disliking rain as much as you do crowded stations. ^_- Have a nice holiday Greg!
again, wonderful vid, i love your sound/film, angles. All very artistic...Indeed special to be witness to such a traditional wedding! I liked the legs shot, the entourage passing, a humble and minding manners camera approach:-) Well done! do they still dance in Harajuku?
Ya know Thomas, I look at all these lovely places and peaceful people all quite innocently enjoying life and wonder why is there so much trouble, war and strife on this wonderful planet.
I can fully understand why this is one of your favourite spots, Thomas; It's very beautiful. What a gracious couple that is, whose walk to their wedding ceremony you filmed. I have a (maybe dumb) question; Am I allowed, as a christian, to write a prayer on a card and hang it between the other prayer cards? Impressive video and a visit to the shrine is marked on my Tokyo visit wish list. Thanks, Thomas !
Hello Hendrik, Absolutely, you are allowed to write your prayer to leave on the tree. If you pause the video by the end of that cut, you can actually read some of the prayers some tourists left there. Sure, I want you to visit this place, in fact so much, i want it to be the first place you visit after arriving in Tokyo. Then the scene is set!!! Thanks very much for watching Hendrik. ^_-
Great interest informative video! Only been to Hong Kong never Japan.... I love to see learn about other great places and cultures. This is wonderful colourful and in great HD?HQ Quality! Thanks :) PS: This would also be great in 3D :)
Meiji Shrine is a shrine of the Meiji Emperor. There are also videos of people going to the wedding ceremony. Many visitors to Meiji Shrine are not both emperor worship or Shinto worship. There is a Japanese heart in the shrine. It is a sacred place for Japanese people to make weddings and visits at shrines.
Now, this is a great Meiji Jingu video mate, I really like this one. And I noticed you moved the camera laterally ... does that mean a stabilizer is on the way?
Many thanks Rohan - Glad you liked it. "Stabilizer"? - No, I AM a stabilizer! ^^ But what I DID need for this one was a proper microphone, the smashed sound of the taiko is my regret of this video! >_
Thanks very much "E". Well, you can get kimonos at all priceranges, so im sure you could find something that fits both your size and budget! ^_- Thank yoooouuuu for watching ......^^
***** I'm 144cm tall, so I would have to wear a kimono for a little girl. ;_; Still, I'm going to try one on when I get there and get a Japanese feel. xD Any time! ^_^
Aaah... you got nothing to worry about - Japanese women aren't exactly famous for being tall! ^_- good idea, and it'll also be comfortable wearing if you visit during the boiling hot and humid summer!
***** I've met a few Japanese here in college and they're a lot taller than I thought. xD I'm going to study in Tokyo for four months, so I might experience the summer there and the spring with the sakura trees. I'll try to get a kimono around that time, then. lol.
God! This place is beautiful. I will trick my friends by saying we will go to Harajuku. Hahahaa. The wedding ceremony is amazing. I'd want to see that by myself. Hope I would be that lucky. Great video as always. Ps. sure you can find lots of pretty girls in this one ^_~
Hi Gail, Does your friends really need to be "tricked" to visit this kind of place? (they prefer to go to a maid-cafe being served by nasal speakers?) Anyways, if you just visit on a weekend, then you are almost guaranteed wedding-activities. ^_-
So does that make you a "non-girl" OR me a girl? hahaha..... Why dont you send them shopping for an hour or two, and then you can go checking out Meiji Jingu? ^_-
In spring we can watch many bride here especially at traditional happy days " TAIAN KICHIJITSU ". Last year I watched many bridal capples in KIMONO and many happy foreigners who enjoy watching those brides.

awesome video ! I enjoy it so much . is that a Buddhist temple ?
have a nice weekend !
It's Shinto-shrine, not Buddhist temple.I recommend you to come here when you visit Japan. It's in central region of Tokyo, very easy to go.
It's such a great place! When I go to Japan I would like to try on a kimono. They look expensive, though. :P
