For years I've been using a 10'x10' Harbor Freight tarp and two collapsable tent poles. I secure one end of the tarp to my roof rack with bungy cords and then hook the tarp ends over the tent poles. I then use parachute cords to make a triangular arrangement out of each pole and 12" nails. I only put this up if I'm staying someplace for more than a day. Just cobbled it together and it's worked all these years. 🤠
I have a similar canopy for my minivan. Before opening the liftgate, line up the part that will fit the tailgate when extended. Then open the liftgate slightly, making sure everything lines up while slowly raising the liftgate. Then secure everything.
We purchased this tent and really like it. It's simple to put up (I wouldn't have read the instructions if there were some). The best thing is that it allows lots of fresh air to circulate inside while sleeping and makes the sleeping in an SUV feel very roomy. We've been camping during a heavy downfall in summer and it was great. Because the bag is so small I didn't care too much about stuffing a wet tent back in there. When we got home we just hung it up on the clothesline to dry. I hate tent management (lol, putting up and pulling down) but I think this is an exception to that rule.
How were things during the rain. Did you have a problem with water coming in from the roof of the car?
@@1970councilman in a straight downpour most cars are designed to shed water even with hatch opened. so adding fabric would in know way intice water to flow under and in
I thought of getting one of those but the reason I went to camping in my car/minivan was because I didn’t like taking down wet tents and having to dry them out later. Having said that I took a long road trip last year in the summer and the heat really got to me. A tent like this would have helped.
@GrannyontheGo! I did a couple of car camping trips in March/April 2022. I had this tent and 9 inch battery operated box fan. I made a mental note that I would not be doing camping during the summer months cause it would be too hot. Between 11am-5pm I had to turn the fan on high. Maybe would work if I had another fan to pull air in/ other blow out. Yes I kept the tent open plus had all windows on a crack.
(Just a thought to share)
I got it for hanging out at the park in the summer. I can't deal with heat or bugs.
I just got the same one and found it much easier to install than the Napier. And I was actually able to fit it back in the bag, but it’s tight. I’ll be using it for the next 6 months so hopefully it’ll hold up. Previously I had a Habitent that I loved and dried it off with a chamois before storing. Happy camping everyone!
I got this tent last year and have used it in a variety of conditions and temps, I absolutely love it! I don't tie down the roof, but use a few sets of magnets to keep it secure and to make sure bugs dont sneak in through the sides. I just used it in VERY buggy weather in Vermont and none got in surprisingly.
Have you been in any rain? Considering one for occasional use, and from looking at videos my concern would be water coming in from the top. Running down the tailgate, onto the roof of the vehicle and then under the fabric. Any experience in wet conditions?
@@1970councilman I was wondering the same thing. Curious if you ever got an answer to this?
@@andyd4298 in a straight downpour most cars are designed to shed water even with hatch opened. so adding fabric would in know way intice water to flow under and in
We used a similar tent , 20 plus years ago, on a Dakota truck with a camper shell. It actually provided a nice sleeping experience for 2 adults, during a 2 week car camping excursion. I guess we were ahead of our time.
I received one of these tents as a gift and have used it multiple times in a variety of conditions. It is brilliant! Have never had any bugs or rain/condensation seeping in. Quick and easy to set up and makes car camping much easier. I just love it
I've reached that age where I can't sleep comfortably on the ground anymore and can't get up easily, either☹ but didn't like the idea of being confined in the SUV. I spend most of my camp time outdoors, so this looks like the perfect solution. I'd also get some mesh and magnets to create screens for the other windows and that would complete the set up.
There are insect screens you can get for your windows already made and relatively cheap. I just ordered some!
Spent all season enjoying my small 'tail Veil' and compact SUV. Lots of ventilation and protection from rain and bugs. Had same bumbling first time setting up. Each time got faster and faster. Expands the camping footprint. Love it!
How was it during the rain? Did you have any problems with water coming in off the roof of the car?
Try setting up the tent with the hatch closed initially then open when all pieces of the tent are secure... Also would be a good idea to unzip the tent so it doesn't rip in the case the hatch is too big for it. Nice work. Enjoy!
I think that would just make things harder because you don't have any structure to hang the tent from? Worth trying, though. Thanks 👍
That's what I had to do as well -- but after securing it to the roof rack first. Made things MUCH easier.
Have used on on my pickup canopy for years. They are nice for keeping the rain out (important in the Pacific Northwest) yet allowing ventilation.
What you have is an extension to your sleeping area, called an "enclosure". What these enclosures do is allow you to extend your sleeping area to the outdoors, sit in your sleeping area and look outside. These enclosures are nice in the beginning, but the novelity can wear off real quick. Kind of restrictive for any other purpose and movement is very limited. The main thought behind these things area - for a one night stay, without setting up a tent, and no other privacy issues to deal with, they're great.
Excellent video. I never thought much about suv tents, but it seems to be a more functional substitute for an awning. You can prop up the awning with telescoping poles and you'd have a great outdoor space, in addition to the mesh net cover for the suv. Thanks for trying it out.
BTW, you wouldn't need this if you are constantly on the move. But airiness and shade make life a lot easier on your day off after hiking 15 miles two days in a row.
Can see the functionality of it, works like a big screen door for the back of an SUV. Seems like it would work well in the summer for ventilation and air flow. The question that comes to mind is when it rains what is there to prevent the rain water falling on the roof of the car from flowing down into the back into the car. Thanks Triston for showing this to us had never seen this before, worth considering for hot summer conditions.
Yes, if you make sure that it is folded under the hatch, the rain runs down the channel and out. I had mine up during the rain and nothing inside my car got wet.
@@missannthrope365 I have trouble visualizing that - "folded under the hatch." ... ?
@@dianaverhulst3407 if I could upload a pic of my setup I would. It just literally folds under the open hatch which makes any water run down the channel. They modified the design recently because the older models did leak.
@@missannthrope365
Thank you for your response, you are right I looked at how the lid raises up on my Subaru Forester and the rain from the roof should channel off to the sides and not leak into the car. Thank you 😊.
I think the rubber seals around the door and window would help keep out the water, in theory.
I like car camping with three small tents. A beater tent so you can save your camp spot when going to town, at least a three person tent to put stuff in and possible stay in over night, and a shower tent to use as a computer room.
I always appreciate the time you put in to your reviews. Thank you.
I love mine. Used it in april in utah and colorado. Nice air ventilation and no bugs.and was easy to set up alone. I have a 4 runner so i had back hatch closed, attached straps to tires then lifted door. Super simple.
I use one of these on my overnight kayak trips, and it works really well for a quick one night stop over. And worked well in heavy rain. 👍
I had one of these kind of tents I thought would be a good thing to have. Boy was I wrong. Mine was the kind that gave more floor space to place a cot or a cook stove on a table. The thing had a butt load of tent pegs and hooks and straps...then after I had it set up the next day I found I needed to go into town and I looked at this thing attached to my car. The first rain storm I got flooded out, it collected over 20 gallons of water and Everything inside was soaked.
All in all the thing was a pain in the ass.
LOL I was just thinking sometimes these things are more of a pain then a benefit... I see rain being a huge problem with this type of setup. Every time I have tried to camp anywhere, anytime, it rains - without fail. Then all the gear is muddy when it's time to pack up. Sigh.
I bought one of these awhile ago. Tried to work it out but my patience ran out very quickly. Hopefully tomorrow I will give it another go
Glad you did this review. I've been looking at these for a couple years but as yet haven't selected which one to begin with. Used tents and tarps. The Airbed gave out in the Great Basin this past Nov and ended up on closed cell insulated pads, .75" each so I had 1.5 inches of insulation and padding. Worked great and i didn't miss the wind shaking the fabric. I haven't replaced thr airbed yet...
It would be great if manufacturers began sending you these to review. I dunno if you want a ton of tents to store but...
Back in SE and it's skeeter country. Ugh. Great fishing but the skeeters....
It was funny watching you stumble through the setup. I like the fact that you get an awning with the tent!
I've seen these around for awhile and have never pulled the trigger on one. I agree with your general take that its just one more thing to futz with setting up. The reason I SUV camp rather than tent camp is so I can just pull over at the end of the day and be instantly ready to sleep. This kind of kills that flexibility. I also move sites every day (mostly) and I think I'd get annoyed setting this up and taking it down over and over.
I have a 30 second rule of thumb, that generally speaking, if something takes more than 30 seconds to set up, I notice I don't tend to use it every day. Sometimes that's fine if its not something I need every day, I don't need daily showers or to cook an elaborate hot meal daily, so a little more setup and takedown is tolerable. But if its something I'm using daily like my bed, I want it to be maximally convenient. It needs to set up and break down with a minimum of fuss. I've noticed if I don't proactively plan for convenience, for me it becomes too tempting to occasionally opt out of camping and grab a hotel room during a long road trip, which kills your budget and makes it less likely you'll take frequent trips. My goal is to make car camping significantly more convenient than getting a hotel so I never get tempted
Anyway, no judgement on people who settle in to a campsite for a few days and are willing to invest a little time to have an extra nice and roomy setup. It really boils down to camp style and knowing yourself and what works for you
More car tent videos please! I'm going on the road next summer and what I'm finding online will help save a lot of time deciding/knowing what accessories to bring with me. thank you so much!
I have that tent for my Sienna minivan - it was a simple set up - the advantage was letting in the breeze - it has zip screens. I really like it.
Have you had any experience with in in the rain? If so, any problems with water coming off of the roof?
@@1970councilman have not had it deployed when it rained as yet. Sorry.
Thank you, you’re wonderful at showing us all your experiences.
Thank you for another great video. We have the SUV tent. Yes you can set it up and take it down in about 5 minutes, but it is really bulky. The tent you purchased looks great for those hot summer evenings when windows are just not enough. That tent appears smaller than my car camping tent, the REI 1/4 Dome. It is also way less expensive. Thank you for reviewing this. Safe travels.
Yes, this is definitely a solution in search of a problem.
Thank you for doing this video. I’ve been looking at them for my minivan. I’d love one of the bigger ones to use for changing and privacy, and being able to disconnect to drive away, but I am concerned about being able to put it up by myself. I’d love to see you do a video on one of the bigger ones.
Looks like the tent was very adjustable for being generic, especially given the price. You were able to make it fit your Suburban pretty well. Nice review.
I got one of the type that’s an enclosed tent behind my SUV. I discovered that I can’t open or close my tailgate from inside either of the vehicles I camp in. I go in and out through the side door of my vehicle, I only use the back gate for loading or unloading. The particular tent I got has a very high threshold that I tripped over several times, and I fell out of the tent twice, once right on my face. Partly it was due to the angle of the tent with poor visibility as I was carrying something.
I ended up selling it to a couple who were very happy with it. I think these can work very well for some people, but it certainly doesn’t suit my camping style.
Very nice video! I liked it. Thanks for going a bit out of your comfort zone to demonstrate the tent set up and to give us your first impressions.😀
Happened to find your video, thanks a lot for testing and review my Hasika tailgate Shade Awning Tent, the setup will be super easier if you secure the tent first on the vehicle roof, and then open the rear hatch, the tent will be opened immediately. And you do not have to take it down when you want to walk around at the camper site, and you can keep the hatch closed for safety.
Pleased to see this review 👍🏼 for sleeping in car, in the non-storm/deluge, I think these are a good option, especially for air flow, and insect proofing during the warmer evenings. Quick and easier for the traveller, who needs to pull over for the short term, overnight stop over or resting/sleep.
Yes, always attach guy lines to all attach points on your tents, and bring enough stakes for them. There are also innovative ways to tie off to rocks and things, if the ground isn’t right for your stakes. It is important to have the ability to fully guy out the tent for comfort and safety. Ventilation is your friend.
I LOVE mine!! I drove to the beach on Christmas and sat inside my suv all day staring at the ocean. It rained too and the tent kept it from coming into my car. Can’t say enough good things about this tent.
During the rain did you have problems with water running down the tailgate and off of the roof coming into the vehicle?
@@1970councilman nope. No water intrusion at all. You can either fold under the hatch and it follows the channel naturally or strap it down and the water will run off the sides of the car. I folded it under because where I was it was windy.
Been thinking about getting one of these on and off the past couple years. I think I'll finally pull the trigger on this. Gonna order it come June :) Thanks for the vid review! I also have hiking gears so I intend to use the two hiking poles I have to help lift the end of the awning up a little more. Seem like plenty of room to set a camp chair and a cooler (I uses it as a table) underneath and just enjoy the scenery with.
I suspect the tent will pack far far better if you zipped up the awning first before rolling it up. As for the condensation, I have a small microfiber towel that I dedicated just for tents when traveling and found it to not be that much of a hassle. Seem like it would be even less of a hassle with this setup since there's nothing touching the ground thus no need to wipe the dirts off too. Just a lil quick wipe of the top before packing then hang the lil towel inside to dry off while driving off.
I have the Napier Backroadz suv tent (flashed on your video). I love the 10x10 floor space and 7ft height. I don't bend well anymore so dressing in a stand up space is wonderful. Having extra bug free living space is great too!
I have a Coleman 10×10 that I use if I'm going to be in camp for more than one night. Have considered transitioning to a Napier. Sometimes I camp in places with designated tent areas. Are you happy with the functionality of your Napier when it is not attached to the vehicle?
@@1970councilman Yes! It has both a screen and privacy flap that zips up completely with no problems, so works like a regular tent when I go into town for supplies.
I took a used 3 man tent and threw it up in top of the van hatch. “Secured it” with the strings and hooks that came with it. Amazed with how it expanded the living space. If nothing else, it opened my mind up to the possibilities.
Having connections to the tires would be a hassle in a dire situation, I'd want to drive off without worrying about collapsing the "tent."
I believe if you take a few minutes to spray tent 💦 repellent that would be most beneficial for seepage avoidance. Might want to tie the top area down more securely so rain won’t trickle down from rooftop.
I have the Napier Soorts Cove. I set it up by myself, before finding the instructions. Love the concept, just haven't had a chance to use it. Debated getting one for a long time, then saw a video of a couple who love theirs. Thanks for sharing this, as I got some pointers in the comments!!
Another informative video. This tent looks as tho one person can attach it to a vehicle. I have been looking for a tent that attaches to my suv that would be easy/quick to set up by myself. So many appear to need two people. Thank you for all your videos!
If I was going at a hot time of year, I think this is valuable. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review. My husband I bought one of those tents and are looking forward to trying it out in August. I am a bit claustrophobic and this make all the difference in the work for car camping. We set it up and I felt much better. Now the real test will come in August. Happy Journeys!
We like to camp in the back of our van, and we have the Napier version of this. I bought it on sale. It adds only a tiny bit of extra room, but a lot of ventilation. The canopy is really handy as shelter in light rain. Easy to put on and off, after the first time, and once you've figured which way is up, and so forth. Just as you said, depending on the time of year, it's a handy thing.
I think the product is nice, thank you for taking your time and share this information. Just to let you know I watched your fishing channel too and I am proud to be a member of your adventure know how channel, I really enjoy all the trips, you bring excellent information and take us to many beautiful places. Thank you.
Yes! I was surprised how awesome this tent setup was! I want one so bad and I don't have an SUV yet!!!!
I camp in my minivan with a separate shelter for eating/cooking or relaxing in a chair (taking a nap!). These items have not appealed to me but I see how it can give the inside of the vehicle a lot of fresh air and openness. For hot summer nights it may be an advantage. So 4 or 5 minutes for setting or striking the shelter by yourself is not a problem, also the flapping of canvas, the pitter patter of rain or some wind is a campsite lullaby for me. The next question is what can you get at the high price range when your purchase will have greater expectations.
I just ordered one of these after watching your review, thanks for putting the video together!
I have a pretty large SUV tent ⛺️
It has a particular use as a “base camp” for longer stays. I wouldn’t set it up for stays less than 3 days/nights. It allows me to have a full kitchen and living space that’s out of the weather and I can close up the the tailgate and glass at night for a secure “bedroom.” Packs down pretty well; I keep it in my rooftop cargo box.
Thank you for showing this. I wheel an '02 Yukon as well and it is nice to know how well it fits. This will be perfect for Summer camping. I hope it lasts long as the material seem kinda flimsy on the video. Thank you!
Cool video! I used to have a Honda Element and I added the Honda Cabana tent on the back. It was very similar to this one. Now I sleep in my FJ with no tent attached. I got a Kodiak canvas tent a couple years ago. I was surprised how much nicer a canvas tent is compared to a noisy nylon tent. The canvas is sturdy and quiet. Its also somewhat bulky though. The canvas breaths much better! I haven't had condensation. I highly recommend Kodiak and Springbar canvas tents for the times you are staying in one base camp for a few nights.
That was fun. I’ve wondered about sort of tent sort of attachment. I have a tent and a pop up screen tent which I have used in Bandelier a couple of times. I have never slept in my Forester so far. I sold my T@B and van. But have all the stuff to eat, sleep and enjoy being outside with.
Yes please, would love to see the larger tent with that attachment to the back of the vehicle that also provides tent space.
I have a a 5ft truck bed with a soft topper, and use one of these so I can sleep with the tailgate down. Really like it. Mine didn’t come with magnets, so I’ll be picking some up for my little setup!
Did you get a truck specific tent or use one of these SUV ones? I have an 04 Tacoma with the 5ft bed. I'm short enough to sleep diagonally with a platform above the wheel wells but have been wanting a secondary setup for sleeping lengthwise so 2ppl can fit.
Enjoyed this, and would definitely like an update some time. I'm testing out the Napier Sportz Cove soon.
One important issue is the composition of the fabric. It determines whether water will be completely blocked or just resisted. You don't want water seeping through the main fabric in heavy rain, sealed seams or not.
Also good to know: the grade of zipper. You can tell a lot by look and feel of course, but it's good to know the basic materials of tents. No pulls on the ties is another sign of cheapness.
I just bought this SUV tent to take with me car camping this summer. While I have not taken it out overnight camping yet, I have taken it to nature areas and parks to hang out in after hiking, paddle boarding etc. It is a fun way to relax before heading home. I am enjoying it so far and get curios looks . I think others would like to kick back before heading home too,, BTW I have yet to fit back into the original bag it came in LOL .
Thank you for sharing. It looks like it would be good for dry climates and warmer weather.
I have a travel trailer i pull with my 2002 yukon and I discovered your channel and decided to take a trip to Florida from Delaware over thanksgiving week and suv camp, I bought a bluetti for power and 12v refrigerator and I know exactly what you mean about arriving to camp and no set required; you opened a new world for me of course it's not something I would do in the summer as it's so stinking hot and humid here but other season's it's wonderful , i've never did any tent camping just started camping as a whole about 6 years ago and i'm almost 60. It takes about 1-2 hours to set up trailer when I get to camp and I only have to pull out chair when in my suv, it's great. I think I might get one of those tents for more ventilation for the shoulder months just have to figure out how to keep the dogs inside:) Oh one more thing don't forget to turn off your dome light as I left my hatch window open during the day and didn't realize the inside lights were on because it was sunny out and depleted my battery.
this helps alot. i don't know what they call a large suv a large one and the smaller version but this gives people ventilation as you said and options are out there. thanks.
I love my suv tent! I have a (tiny) Subaru Cross Trek and I am 5'10" so the extra room is wonderful.
YES, I'd love to see the tent set up! Great vid.
I use the Napier Sportz Cove on a 05 Tahoe and it works great. The cost was about $150, try a small bungee cord on the roof connections. Happy Trails
I’ve just received mine today and set it up easily. I’m currently driving across Australia in my VW Polo and want this for those overnight stays on the road. Tks for the video. It really helped. I’m looking at the additional add on ‘room’, so I would love to see that demonstrated. Cheers.
I was pondering making something like this years ago, with a wood folding platform extension thing that would stick out the back of the SUV. Pretty cool idea but I can see rain running in from the roof so maybe better for dry weather.
From looking at videos, rain coming in off of the roof is also a concern. Maybe we can find some reviews specific to this part of the design.
Still trying to decide if I want to get one of these or the larger one for a changing room. This one would be great for the airflow & big protection. Thanks for the video.
I have an SUV tent that is an actual tent that attaches to the hatch of the car. I love it! It increases the living space allows me to sleep in the cargo area. I recommend them if you enjoy tent camping but want the option of sleeping off the ground.
I have Marmot tent for car camping. It's tape sealed and have never given a moment's trouble. This was a very good PART #1 Review of this little tent. PART #2 Repeat setting it up alone and showing it a few days later. In the 25mph winds with 40mph gusts of the Arizona deserts.😎
I like it, I realize this is an SUV RV vlog but I'd also love to know about one made for a minivan ❤️ enjoy that air you're getting out there
Have a quest nissan, don't remember brand but blue and at amazon, have had it awhile and love it
I love when you do these reviews. You are so honest and you go with flow don't seem to fly off the handle :-) I think it was a very fair review and so interesting. I love lots of fresh air so would quite enjoy it but like you say dealing with a wet tent or any article when camping is the pits! :-)
I liked seeing this. I just bought one made a little different. So this was great to see.mine should be here in 4 days.
I think this was a great video. Very nicely done. All the best to you.
Nice! You finally got an SUV tent. I have one for my Rav (more expensive than this one), but I have really liked it. The purchase was mainly to test it out and ventilation (my Rav can't just open up the rear window). I would say they're nice to have but not needed. Another option is to get a large sheet of bug netting and some strong magnets.
I am curious about the more living space tent like the cube, but they are pretty pricy.
I have a similar situation with the tailgate on my Subaru Forester. While I do have screens for my windows and the moon roof, I've considered one of these for better air circulation on hot nights. Have you used yours in the rain? If so, did you experience any problems with rain coming off of the roof and running in under the tent?
Hi, and I haven't used my SUV tent in full rain, but I have in a light shower/sprinkle. I'm happy to report that I didn't get any water inside, but the one I have does wrap around for better protection. I have noticed some condensation between the tent and the hatch. I also cut some PVC to ensure the hatch won't close when the tent is on.
Thanks for doing the review, though. It helps to see why it works or doesn’t for different people!
I have a 4runner. I plan to get canopy fittings, poles and a few large uv mosquitoe netting. Of course some spare tarps for when it rains to make the room water proof. This will create a large room for cooking, hanging out etc.
Sense of humour, excellent. Pitching up tent, fantastic.
Actually I love that, being someone who sleeps in my rig and loves bug free open air😁
Great review 👍. Kool tent 👍. Beautiful views. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thanks so much for this review! It was one I was considering. I went with the Napier Sportz Cove. With some minor tweaks, it's worked out really well for me. I do like that additional shade panel on that guy though. I might mod mine to do something similar.
Have you had any experience in the rain? Specifically wondering if, or how much, water comes in off of the roof?
@@1970councilman We don't get a whole lot of rain out here in Arizona, so I haven't had the opportunity to test it in those circumstances yet, but monsoon season is coming!

I have a Napier tent that attaches over the rear hatch of my Toyota Prius. I'm using it for the first time in about 10 days for a week-long girls campout. Taking a cot to keep me off the ground for comfort. Can't wait to try it. They retail at $399 - the Sports to Go RV Tent. I purchased some heavy duty magnets from Amazon just in case I need to close up any gaps.
I swear, you are a mind-reader. I was just looking at this tent and wondering if it was worth it. They should have sponsored you for this because you will likely increase their sales with your review. Thanks for the review.
Even though it costs more, I like our Sportz Cove for parking on the beach because it doesn't block the view. This one looks better suited for overnighting. Enjoyed the review.
This was so helpful! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, I really wanted to know how this was when I saw it at Amazon!
When folding up windows / awning section firstly fold the corners into the middle and then roll. Much easier to roll, tidier and no hanging fabric swinging around afterwards :)
The instructions are on the inside of the bag it came in. Just look at the picture on the website. Its very easy and works great. It will only take you 3 minutes next time you put it up. You can use the bit that you rolled up as an awning.
Beware as there are different sellers of these and like yours you got less quality. Mine had a bigger bag, more secure attachments and the awning should zip down just like in tents. The cheaper quality of these are also not waterproof.
Look at the reviews on the sites before you buy.
Dude, first: MORE VIDEOS PLEASE! I love watching your shows in 4k on my 55" tv!
This review was 🔥!!!! Please get that other tent. I enjoyed every moment! Your videos are my favorite, along with the Adventures of A+K.

I have a connecting tent with floor for my 2018 grand caravan. It has 2 parts. One of bug fabric and a cover to make it a fully covered tent. I really like 👍 it, but it took 2 people to throw it over the opened hatchback and secure it with first elastic strap. The only issue I had with it was when it rained. At the top two corners where it attached to the car and back door, there was a triangle of space that let in the rain. The rain traveled down the side gutters of the window and along the insides of the tent. So anything that was in contact with the floor on that edge got soaked. I know from other experience not to have anything touching sides of tent. I like the loops on the top to connect to the car top rails. I’m not sure mine has those loops. I used this tent on a camp trip last summer and it worked well except for that issue and the fact I couldn’t use my car to go anywhere with the tent up. Hassle to remove and put back up. It didn’t seem sturdy enough to leave free standing. I’m very interested in what your opinion would be of this type of tent.
Great review. It looks like you’d be pretty good in the rain (you could always shut the back if not).
Thanks for doing this review. I am a touch over 6' and it is impossible for my wife and I to sleep in our Kia Soul. This type of tent looks like a good option to allow my legs to stretch out. We have been tent camping with cots and air mattress, it is such a pain in the butt to set up and tear down. If it rained we have to deal with a wet tent and ground sheet. This option eliminates a lot of the extra steps. What the hell it's worth a shot. I think I will be ordering the Napier version of this because I like the hoop set up and I believe it is better quality.
I'm so glad that you did this demonstration for us. I don't think I could have slept with that though in Idaho since it is bear country
I can see where a tent extension would benefit you in the field while traveling, it would open the area up more .
When you said “I feel much more connected to the outside” that pretty much sums up why I always have enjoyed tent camping.
That's one of the perks, for sure!
