Theme Song by Hello Control: bit.ly/hellocontrol - Фільми й анімація
I have to teach film to high schoolers from this August. This is coming RIGHT IN TIME! ❤❤❤
Good luck
That's amazing! Good luck!
good luck man❤
Best channel ever to born in 2009 = Film riot. Thank you Ryan
Hey, not true! Mine was born in 2009 too!
You can be second 😂, how's that. @@sethflix
Just want to say, as someone who's been around since your first videos, its awesome to see the incredible way you guys have built this channel that has probably helped more people than you will ever know find their footing in the industry and the art of film!
So happy that you're putting a lot of effort into screenwriting 🙌🙌 Honestly, it's the backbone to making a good movie; great directing, acting, and cinematography doesn't matter if the script isn't good.
Love your channel can't wait to work with yall someday!
The second part of the video is even more important. Its when we follow the ideas and how they want to be, not considering the audience, it becomes a very true and honest story and how it should be in that world
Thank you for existing!
Can’t wait for the ‘ this could be an entire episode by itself” episodes
Best advice I ever received about scriptwriting is "Don't Direct On Paper."
_EXT. GARY'S HOUSE - DAY_
_With a satisfying SPLOOSH, Gary dumps the rest of the bucket of sudsy water on his Red 1968 Mustang and WHISTLES "ZIPPTY DO DAH" as he cleans his car, oblivious to the happy little blue bird perched on a wire high above the windscreen_
You can visualize this scene in many different ways. You probably already have a Wide Shot in mind, maybe a Dolly Zoom Out to reveal the bird. Let the Directors figure out what to do. Your job, as a writer, is to give the reader brain food. How many jokes can you find in my scene?
I've been doig this for about three years now, but it's always great to keep going over the basics.
Brightens my day when you guys upload!
Great episode!
The best screenwriting learning experience I've had was taking Aaron Sorkin's screenwriting MasterClass. His class alone was worth the MasterClass superscription price. The guy is literally one of the most gifted & talented writers of our time.
This was awesome, thank you Ryan!
Thank you for the new video!!
Great video as always.
Super helpful. Just getting started. Thank you!
Wow 😳😳
This is exactly the kind of tutorial I've been expecting from this channel thanks for the video 🤝🏾🤝🏾
Awesome episode once again! 🤜Would love to hear more about your writing journey related to your individual films. 🙏
Really informative video! As a aspiring screenwriter, I found the tips and examples provided super helpful in understanding the basics of scriptwriting. Can't wait to put them into practice and see the difference for myself. Plus, the mention of Musicbed has piqued my interest, will definitely be checking it out! Thanks for sharing!
I needed this thank you
Yay! New video!
You made my day 😀 thankyou so much for this video sir ❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks! Good stuff!
Thanks. I am NOT a writer but I have about 5 horror short story ideas in my head. I will try out my ideas using this structure. I've done 4 on my channel but I had to do them off the cuff and it was not easy putting together that way. My latest MOTION ACTIVATED was not even put on paper. All off the dome. It was unorganized and very hard to edit in post but I don't think I did too bad despite unknowingly how to structure my ideas. Once again thank you for you educational videos.
Awesome video, FR team :)
I've written a lot of crap and co-written a lot of other crap. None of which will ever see the light of day. But screen writing has always interested me because of the formatting. The formatting seemingly is intended to keep you from getting too full of your own bull💩. If typical writing is painting with words then screenwriting is a blueprint. At least that how I've always felt. Good one I learned some good stuff.
show up late and leave early GOLD!
The best part about log-lines is imagining it on screen as a description for your movie.
Thank you!
Wiat a minute, looks like this was made for me...never seen a film riot video that meets my need that was posted 20 mins ago
.. Nice
Make a video on how to write a scene and structure it , the no of beats, and how to enter late and exit early , how to fill action and dialogue
hey film riot! do you think an iPhone 15 (with log) and a gimbal is good enough to be a filmmaker? and make professional looking footage?
The thing about writing structure is that it is derived after having written a truly great script. So starting a story that matters to you with a structure blueprint will surely make it mediocre. You'll be okay if that's your job and it pays. But otherwise it is about the continuous process of exploration and definition as you move forward from the first impulse that makes you wanna tell a story.
I love writing, but I struggle so much with structure.
I was the same. Doing it over and over until it clicked was the only thing that worked for me.
A friend of mine is trying to make his own animated show on his own, I think this will help streamline his process
Are you guys making any narrative stuff anymore? Any short films or something on the horizon?
is the action line from the script sample from hereditary ?
One of them, yep!
I was surprised how much of this applies to process of software engineering. I suppose it probably applies to the creation of many things.
0:21 could you share the link of tutorial
Object tracking of that gun
Can u do a cgi tutorial on how to get octopus tentacles like Descendants 2-4 ?
🥳🎉🎂My Favorite!!!
I need 102 class. What to do after the script is finished.
ry guy is back
Oh, wow. when he wrote, 101...he really meant 101...lol
Would a production company ever have a problem receiving a scriptment when they ask for a treatment?
If a treatment was required for a specific reason, yes. If you are asked to work up a treatment to convey the film you want to make to them, no.
That sounds terrible for all of our situations. Cheers, my bras!
In a way it's kind of (hilarious isn't the right word... pointless maybe?) that this much effort is put into writing a script only for it to be cut to shreds IF shooting ever actually gets started because of budget, location availability, and so on; and then get cut to shreds again during the edit process because of a thousand other different reasons.
Michael Mann wrote Heat 2 as a novel. If you want to get your story out, self publish it as a novel.
seems like ryan is working on a feature, thats why less episodes these days 😏😏😏
I've been wanting to try screenwriting, but everythings been done, lol
But not with your point of view.
Judging by the quality of the current industry, we should probably start with Writing 0.001
chatGBT type beat
lol on not like us
boo
You forgot the most important part, make your main character a 🏳️🌈 female otherwise nobody is gonna greenlight it
seems like ryan is working on a feature, thats why less episodes these days 😏😏😏
