I actually think driving assist is extremely underrated. Just in this video, there was a moment that she was about to go off course because she was drifting left on a right turn, but the driving assist saved her. There are 2 downsides to driving assist in MK8DX: 1) You cannot purple spark at all. This is the more important one, since it's just a straight speed decrease to players who can properly drift. 2) It makes it much harder to take shortcuts because it'll try to keep you on the course. On the flip-side, it can make you able to take turns your vehicle would be literally incapable of making at higher CCs and is extremely useful for people unfamiliar with the course. Based on what I just saw, at Raora's skill level, she's definitely benefitting from it way more than it's potentially hurting her.
PSA: if you, a friend, or your oshi feels like your/their vehicle is too slow, it's probably because you're/they're not getting enough coins. Coins give a tiny boost on pickup, but also give a small stacking continuous boost for each one you have. MK8DX is actually really well balanced in that slower vehicles almost always have higher acceleration and mini turbo to make up for it. When you get hit, you drop coins, which makes you lose speed and makes it harder to get away from everyone who wants to hit you more. So, at the risk of sounding reductive, don't get hit, and focus on picking up coins.
No coins and steering assist on hurt her speed so much. That 0 coin Bullet Bill was a real shame lol I do think some of her lines were absolutely saved by steering assist, but also it clearly messed up some other lines, and the times she got saved could have been avoided by just playing without steering assist enough to get better.
Chattini canonically cannot move as they are stuffies, so we requested jet packs so we could move around and zoom. She said no it's too dangerous, but aunty Kaela was willing to sell the jet packs and the takodachis have offered to transform into jet packs so chattini can fly
