Nice. One of the better VFRs.

Thanks! This was the first motorcycle I owned and I never really felt the need for any other. Still, a couple of 2nd gen VFRs have found me and I aim to have some videos with them too!

Great job on your bike, looking forward to the riding vids. I bought a 97 for $700 obviously it had a few dramas but when I finally got her started I instantly fell in love with that v4 grumble. Stay safe and thumbs way up

Thanks for commenting. It's been a while since that journey began, but I'm still riding and enjoying this VFR. Truly great sounds, both the rumble and the gear whine. In your case, it's hard to go wrong at $700 and the VFR community is a good one! Good luck to you

Massive vfr myself got one same as yours and a 88 fj model and a 2015 model 800 every vfr model is good another tip for you wire rectifier direct to the battery if you google it , it tells you how to do it the weak link is the plug from the stator it rots and that causes the charging faults . Done both of my 750 models and not had any problems fit thicker wire from the stator hard wire it and that v4 motor will run ever .The one that is same as yours has done 50 thousand miles and the earl 88 fj model done 65 thousand 800 done 10 thousand all trouble free miles these bikes are built to last enjoy many miles on it most off biking days have been on vfrs been riding 35 years on the road now v4 honda always wins me over thats why i have 3 of them.

Yep, good info for sure for any classic VFR owner. I upgraded from the stock reg before my first ride even, have inspected the ground, and greased all connectors to prevent corrosion. I've been fortunate not to suffer any electrical issues, but am prepared to do the procedure you mentioned at any sign of trouble.

I spent two of my summer breaks and a winter break working on it or about 7 months. (I lived away from home most of the year as a student) It was the first project of that kind for me, so a learning experience!

1:57 holy shit. When started working on mine 2003 VFR800 rear brakes, noticed some sludge in the reservoir and thought well thats the worst i've seen, but here its 5 times worse.
