One important tip when updating your resume for a career transition is to tailor it to the specific job you're applying for. Research the desired skills and qualifications for the new role and emphasize how your previous teaching experience aligns with them. You've got this!
I love that you're addressing the mistakes teachers often make when transitioning to different careers. It's essential to approach the job search with a fresh mindset and avoid falling into these traps. Thank you for the helpful advice!
Hi Kamara! I'm so happy I just found your channel. Like others I wish I had found it sooner. I just started to watch your videos and this particular video was just what I needed. I wanted to ask you, what does page 2 look like? Is that where you would place education and technical skills?
Thank you!!! Page 2 is a continuation of professional experience followed by an education section. You might also find a volunteering section on there as well.
KAMARA! This is what I've been missing...a transition resume! I'm so glad I found it yesterday. I've watched and dissected it so many times. Any way I could also see what Michael Scarn's "Earlier Experience" section (from the FBI, of course) would look like? Is that in another video possibly? Where were you hiding this one.
What about at the executive level? Many times it seems hard to make the switch? Interested in tech marketing or sales and partnerships, customer success, account management from recruiting/talent acquisition at director level
As you know, it really comes down to your qualifications. It can be argued that recruiting is a bit like sales, so I would use that to your advantage to reposition yourself for a sales-related role. I think marketing will be a bit tough if I'm being honest. What motivates you to move into a sales role?
Thanks for the tips. I've been binge watching your videos since I'm wanting to change to remote work but I have no experience in working from home so it's been difficult. I'll take your advise and change my resume once again. Do you have any tips for career changers to remote work?
I am actually looking for remote jobs as well. I currently work in property management looking to transition into tech sales. I've done virtual tours/meetings via Zoom and Google Teams. I thought it would make sense to highlight that. Do you have any other recommendations? Thank you so much for the content. 😊
@@paulawilliams4443 I'm also working in Commercial Property Management and looking to pivot or change to Proptech sales too. Have you made the change yet, and how has the process been for you so far? Would love to connect with you.
When updating your resume, consider incorporating any relevant professional development or certifications you've acquired during your teaching career. Demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and growth can make you stand out as a candidate during a career transition.
Hi Ms. Kamara new sub here... find you're channel informative and helpful as I'm trying to find an remote healthcare related job like in customer service, customer representative and some medical administrative work, virtual medical assistant but having problem how to start and what to put on my prof summary section.. I'm a registered nurse and having 10 plus years of experienc in medical field and hospital. any suggestions or sample prof summary you can give so I can finally finish re-constructing my resume. Appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
You're well-positioned for this career transition! I can help with the opening line; can you give me more information about your approach to your work as a nurse? Like what did your patients say about you that was positive? What was common praise you received? Also, what departments did you work in in the hospital?
@@thatswhatshesaid omg you replied Ms. Kamara!!! Thanks for noticing my comment this means so much!!!!! Uhm anyways to answer your question ive been working 9 yrs plus in a fast-paced outpatient department as a medical assistant.. Im doing alot of patient interactions interviewing talking to them booking appts cheking insurance assisting doctors entering datas and all other typical medical assistant role.. patients were happy with my service and how i interact with them i really do my job extra all the time. I've tried working as s healthcare customer service rep as well but that was a long time but still have the experience so now im trying to have a remote healthcare/medical job.. anthing that is healthcare related even non-phones ive tried applying but no luck so now been searching reading watching alot on how to boost my resume then i bumped on your youtube account.. learned alot and been working now on reconstructing my resume almost done woth thw job descriptions but now my problem is how to compose the professional summary as iam trying to apply from healthcare to remote helathcare related..
@@angelicasadi2145 happy to help! When I think of transitioning from in-person healthcare to remote customer service in healthcare, the only main difference is having to use technology to deliver great care/service. Assuming you are proficient in technology, I would use an opening sentence in your summary of: Registered Nurse and medical assistant with 10 years of experience. Continuously praised by patients for delivering compassionate care, and ready to do the same as a remote healthcare customer service representative. Then you can share anything extra about your tech proficiency.

Are you making a career pivot? What job are changing from and what job are you changing to?
nurse to data analyst
Retail store manager to Healthcare Administrator. How would you write the summary for two unrelated careers?

@@thatswhatshesaid One last question. Should I still be placing under my name the job title I am applying for rather than the last title I held?

I’m a caregiver and I want to work remotely to be a Stay home mom but I have no experience with working remote. I need HELP
It’s ok if you don’t have experience working remotely. What is your target job though?
How to pivot from career, not based on accomplishments, but on innate talents/gifts?
You need to have demonstrated these innate talents/gifts through work and highlight those.
