    WOW! IMPRESSIVE! obviously, the leader and the crew, knew the meaning of teamwork. This is some of the problem, today. People are out for themselves.

    Getting the line checked in doesn't get them seen, and doesn't get their work processed. Volunteers can't process claims or PE actions. SSA has been pulling CS's to keep the lines short and the phones answered, but the work isn't getting done. So the experienced TEs and CSs retired because of the stress, and new hires quit before they complete training because of the stress. So the only ones left are the ones who are too invested to just leave, but not old enough to retire yet. And they're leaving in droves to other agencies. So managers sorting out a line for a few minutes a day doesn't matter. Some volunteers refilling printer paper don't matter. Hiring and retaining capable CSs and CSRs is the only thing that will make a meaningful difference, and that's not happening. And bonus, the new commissioner that everyone is so excited about has managed to alienate thousands of support staff with his bizarre RTO decision, so now they're going to be losing HR and IT and all kinds of other core staff.
    The ship was sinking before, now it's also on fire as it goes down.

      We were able to issue most SS5s immediately and let people know if they had the right documents and if they needed to be there at all. And our team would go up several times a day to help. It was all part of a lot of other little things we did that I didn't want to bore non-SSA viewers with.

      @MyGovExpert which is all great. But there are more claims and PE actions that need processing, and not enough people to process them, and it's getting worse every day. All that other stuff is just window dressing. It's putting a bandaid on a cut when the legs have been chopped off. Did you see the news about that FO in Cleveland? That's where it's heading.

    maybe hire just phone operators, I know I was also a senior manager (DoD) and budgets are always in flux

      Easier said than done. And if they have the budget to hire, it will take a year to train them.
