Thanks, Richard. One of my cousins is developmentally delayed, so I grew up aware of such things, albeit in a limited way. What I especially love at the therapeutic riding places is seeing how the kids really seem to come alive around the horses, and how proud those who can express such things are of their achievement in riding.
Thank you so much! I love telling stories in song. There are so many compelling stories that need to be shared, like this one...My mother was French Canadian and a born storyteller, so I get that part from her. :)
Thanks, Arlene - though when I was younger I used to wish I had a real rock 'n roll voice. But as I say in another song I wrote for HoofBeats, "You can only work with the horse you've got." So I write to suit my (actually very limited) voice. :)
Marie-Lynn, I see my own comment from eight years ago! I'd completely forgotten about this song of yours. It's exquisite! I'm going to send it to the CanTRA team I'm working for at the moment. They'll love it!
Hey, thanks, eh?! :) For some reason comments were being disallowed on this video till a moment ago despite my settings saying they are allowed. Weird. But nice to be getting some feedback finally.
Glad you like my music! Sure, please share it. What site, BTW? I think CBC actually played this song once at 6 a.m. or something on Ontario Morning. :)
Nina, aha! So that's how Dzintar spells his name. :) BTW, you may also be interested in my song and video about the severely endangered Newfoundland Pony, also here on UA-cam, with lots of photos of this amazing breed. a Typical Canadian story: we have something rare and precious, but it's not well known and we're in danger of losing it.
I love how this song humanizes people (and animals) who are a bit different and often ignored or shunned--or worse.
Lovely song - both melody & lyrics,
