The "shop with me video" convo had me rolling. I could never make one either 😆 Not only do I have my list of new and/or early-releases in hand, I've already checked online to see if they're in stock before I even leave the house. I'm only in store for about 5 minutes 😄 I do sometimes miss the serendipity that comes with browsing though! It's just so easy to vet everything beforehand.
Oh also, you guys are missing out on Don't Say Mystery. Very funny and sharp josei. Fun video though! Always a good time.
I think Don't It Mystery may be the first book that was an initial didn't buy but then came back and bought it later.

I love Emily's shirt!! Hello Kitty!! I have been VERY curious about Scribbles and Who Made Me Princess! YES YES YES to My Girlfriend's Child!! I just read volume two yesterday and it is amazing!! Jacob when you talked about that feeling when not buying something and how it "just didn't feel right," and oh my goodness I have felt the same exact way before! I'm glad it doesn't just happen to me! Great haul!

If you want to get Higurashi When They Cry Gou. Read Higurashi When They Cry, first. That being said people suggest that there are other similar mangas that are better. Unfortunately, I can’t remember what those titles are.

So the only Yugioh manga that was connected to the anime was the original one. All of the spin-off anime series’ manga were either written during or after the anime was airing. The stories in the spin-off series manga feature the characters from the anime but have their own story somewhat unrelated and different from their anime counterpart. Great haul and video as well. Yay my comment was featured in the video.

Amazin' video as always, those one liners kill me ("Dark griity seinen, in the bag!") 🤣 Also the random Daughter singing after the transition back from the review; plus that random ASMR going into softcover softcore 😆 I know the exact feeling you described when you put Appare-Ranman back down - I've done that many times myself, sometimes it just doesn't feel right to pick up that book right then!
Speaking of the review, I gotta say, if I were an artist who sent my work to you guys, I would be very appreciative of the detail and care you guys put into your review. You guys gave a very balanced and fair critique of both of the works imo, and it really highlighted one of the best part of watching your channel, which is that we can always count on you to give your raw and unfiltered thoughts on works. Even if I don't always agree with your analysis, I can appreciate where you coming from and you guys always express your thoughts in a very clear and engaging manner.
Sidenote, Don't Call it Mystery is a josei written by the same author of Basara and 7 Seeds! It has nothing to do with Killing Stalking 😊

A few things on Dirty suits:
The author claims to have been a manga creator for the past 10 years, so I think that should be a consideration in the review
I also think they saw all the hype Tokyo Revengers was getting and then tried to replicate that general Aesthetic…
I do rlly like the art style tho
I can't speak to that as I didn't know that before the review, but yeah, the execution of the art is actually really good like we mentioned.

FF8 was my first FF, and I started but didn’t finish 9. So 8 is better! I thought your analysis of the independent manga was constructive and interesting. Good feedback is vital for improvement and growth
FF7 was my first! I also couldn't finish 9. I think in one of my play throughs of 9 I got to the 4th disk and lost my will to beat it. Sadly the same thing happened to Legend of Dragoon. The only difference is I re-bought Dragoon for our PS5, and I'm likely to play it again (soon!). Whereas I flip the bird to my copy of FF9 (that I accidentally stole from my best friend 😋) every time I walk past it.

I strangely had a similar situation with Qualia the purple. I knew little other than it was originally a light novel, had sci-fi elements, or at least that's what I thought i read, and I was sold enough to take the gamble. I just received it today in the post and thought, wow, this book is a better build than I thought, then I read the back and got confused. I'm looking forward to reading it!

Yeah it is annoying when volumes are not reprinted. I imagine you'll have better luck with triage x though. As a light novel reader, I've found Accel World 11 (still on going series) and Durarara 8 (sequel still on going) are impossible to find. There seems no reason for it. Bytheway, Higurashi is a visual novel franchise, that has a successfully adapted anime. There are several parts, I don't know how connected they are to what came before.
I have emailed Yen Press, and they indicated that there could be another run of 4, 5, and 7 at the end of the year. So fingers crossed!

To be fair, I believe I said the art _looked_ like Killing Stalking, which yes, I knew it was published by Sevenseas. But hey! This is what I love about you guys' comments! I didn't know it was by the same creator Basara, and knowing that, I might actually pick it up now! Doubly because it's josei, and we want to see more Josei make it over to the west!

Dirty Suits sounds extremely like Jade City by Fonda Lee. I haven’t read it all yet, but the fact that it’s about two boys who murder a guy in a restaurant (did one of them happen to work there as a bus boy or something and did they murder him for something he had?) rang major alarm bells. Plus the fact that it is a Yakuza type fantasy setting. I genuinely hope I am wrong, but if did rip it off then I’m sure Fonda Lee and her publishing company would be very interested in talking to the manga company.
I believe it was a bus boy and he had a gun in a sack of potatoes. I am not familiar with Jade City, but now I am going to look into this...
Looking at the plot synopsis of Jade City on Wikipedia, I don't think they stole their ideas. Anything that lines up seems coincidental. But who knows. Just my opinion after looking into it.
I lowkey think Gohan is the best character in all of Dragonball and I HATE that the Ultimate form got dirtied the way it did in the Buu saga. If Gohan took over after Goku’s death and DB Super focused on the rest of the DB cast instead of Goku, it would have been REVOLUTIONARY! That’s my hot take, amazing video as always!

@meettheweebfamily I am really excited to eventually hear the opinion she has on it. I collected it while it was being released in the US back in the early 2000s so I haven't heard the opinion of adults who do not have nostalgic thoughts. I know shojo doesn't always resonate the same way for all ages, and some situations in the manga may not have aged the best, but it is still one of my favorite shojo series.
Well, she really enjoyed volumes 1 and 2. Given her love of Fushigi Yugi, Yona of the Dawn, and Requiem of the Rose King, I'm pretty sure she is going to love Red River.

I'm late to the party, but what I have to say is of the utmost importance. Final Fantasy VIII is better than Final Fantasy IX. By a long way. 9 sucks. Squall is a better name than Leon. Also, as an extra, Squall's remastered head is ridiculous and ruins the whole game.
