Bummer that V0oid didn't hit any of the frames. He's a cool dude, and I was pulling for him. (Not to say Stew_ isn't a great guy or anything) I really enjoyed seeing the race though.
Was pulling for V0oid so hard.. he trained pretty intense for this. Anyways, congrats to both players and it’s awesome how this game was a part of something so amazing!!!
Probably a damaged video cable or something on Stew_'s side of things. GDQ often has some minor technical difficulties, especially when they're working with older hardware like the SNES. And while the SNES itself is an astonishingly reliable machine, (seriously, they're more than a quarter century old, there's a LOT still around for that kind of age) the cables you use to hook them up are similarly dated and tend to be of much lower quality. (I forget what I used to plug it in back in the day - I seem to recall a box of some kind that piped it in vs the coaxial cable that you use for cable tv - interrupted channel 3 when the SNES was on when it was working, occasionally got a bit of interference from whatever was on that channel when it was starting to fail...weirdness. No dedicated Red-White-Yellow cables, and certainly no HDMI.) (I'm about 95% certain it's Stew_ with the screwy video - that or V0oid's video was screwy in the same way mine always was...like I said, connection cables were kinda janky in those days.)
I know that sometimes they use different versions of the game. I'm not sure if that was the case this time or if that would even be why it looks slightly different but that's one of the first things I thought of.
Two questions: 1. I didn't know there were barrels exclusive to only one Kong. Does this happen on multiple levels, or is it only on Vulture Culture? 2. What's up with the golden barrel on Platform Perils?
Gustavo Araujo Honestly, it’s ok that he lost. Because A. He was up against the world record holder, so he was sort of at a disadvantage, and B. Even though he lost, it was still a really good run.
My first thought watching was "Wow, this void dude is getting owned." My second, and more important thought was "wow, this game would take me like 8 hours to beat."
it was a great run, but at the end, the exact 1:30 difference really made a deal, with v0oid dont getting some of those fast rolls, nonetheless, such a great run starting this GDQ
You know, I could swear that I somehow skipped K.Rool's second phase once... Other than "jump on him while he's getting up", I have no idea how that worked, assuming I didn't just have a fever dream as a kid or something.
I never knew this game had tricks that let you skip entire levels. It's like the 90s equivalent of a hidden block with a powerup in a Super Mario Maker level that only the level's creator would ever find. Spike even calls one a "dev warp," which is exactly what it is. Kinda bullshit.
DKC is, technically speaking, a terrible game. You collect bananas for lives, balloons for lives, KONG letters for lives, and animal tokens for lives. Terrible game design. But damn if it isn't one of the most beautiful-looking games ever with an absolutely fantastic soundtrack, and that is it's saving grace.
That run was honestly impressive.. Spikevegetas commentary was so good as always. I'm enjoying the runs he commentates over so much.
Man, Stew was a beast... He nailed almost every frame-perfect trick. That's insane!
Spike Vegeta is so damn precious.
12:45 Skype? 😂
product placement.
I actually checked cuz I had skype opened lol
I did a double take cuz I'm deployed and that's how some people call me 😂
realy cool race. I appreciate that void missed some skips. It's amazing too see how skilled they are just running through the map after a failed skip.
Loved the comment "skype is a banger"
Well, they got some beats in there after all the time 😂
"As soon as they release the nut" hahahahhaa
I wish I had SpikeVegita's commenting chops. Not because I want to be a commentator, but because his energy is so awesome.
This was my childhood :) and those OST are amazing
Jesus Cordova honestly in my top 5
Right there next to Un Squadron (also for snes) and Dbz Budokai Tenkaichi 2
Love that water level music. So peaceful.

He's a choke hazard in marathons, but I love him too!
30 minutes?! You can beat the game during my entire lunch break!
Spike... just love him in any run he gets the couch spot on.
Great run both. Love classic snes Donkey Kong Country.
Shoutouts to the 24/7 Nintendo music stream boys 🎉
Impressive runs though, well done!

Great run, awesome commentary and banter from the sofa, lastly the announcer was professional and fun too. Gj keep doing what you do x
I remember as a kid I found the barrel skip in Snow Barrel Blast and was super hyped about it. So many more skips I had no idea of!
The sarcastic commentary is great
19:04 I literally shouted "DIGGS!" at that one.
Why do the two screens look different? Just a production thing, or do their games actually look different?
Different tv settings maybe?
They usually do this, it is to differentiate their screens easier

Maybe a difference in the consoles, or a calibration difference in whatever capture cards they are using. Just a guess.
12:45 JOEL

hlavco there is one more in slip slide ride, and it’s a small glitch.
Closed all my apps to check my skype call at 4:59am in the morning. Ty GDQ!
33:44 How do you get the golden barrel?
Stew was on fire in this race!!
as a kid I was able to get 99% but never able to find the last 2 secrets.
I'm sure I had something to do... Oh well, guess it'll have to wait. For like a week.
Damn, Vo0id trained so hard for this...

void got very unlucky on this race
Void used to play MTG? aww i bet he would be fun to play against
Yeah! Starting with the best SNES game!
I'm going to want to train and optimize my runs now.
awesome!
It begins
I wonder if V0oid had some slight input lag on his set-up...
it was a great run, but at the end, the exact 1:30 difference really made a deal, with v0oid dont getting some of those fast rolls, nonetheless, such a great run starting this GDQ
Why didn't they use warp barrels in 1-1 and 1-2?
I think specifically in this category they have to complete every stage
29:00 /clap
You know, I could swear that I somehow skipped K.Rool's second phase once... Other than "jump on him while he's getting up", I have no idea how that worked, assuming I didn't just have a fever dream as a kid or something.
WAIT what do you mean second phase
Is warping not allowed in any% ?
chico baber it’s any% all stages, so in this specific category, no
They both warped around the 11 minutes mark into the video. So yes, you may warp as long as you beat all stages.
Yooooooooo agdq❤️
That might be the most synchronized start I've ever seen.
*extremely hype crowd voice* SKYPE!

They didn’t roll in
This is officially the worst GDQ ever
wdym?
I suck at DKC
V0oid ...
Stew Pog
LoL 🤣🤣 try 2 run this game blindfolded next time ... its locks 2 easy for you guys 😏😏😂🤣

I MUCH prefer the two sequels.
