Thank you for this...very emotional coming into Shannon - 'Oh Ireland isn't it grand you look, like a bride in her rich adornin...with all the pent up love of my heart, I wish you the Top of the Mornin'' ! The emigrant never forgets! We haven't been Home for a few years now...
I'd just like to say that I've transitioned Shannon several times coming back from deployments in some really nasty places in Southwest Asia.....and that stop is the first place you could get a beer after months. There was the same gentleman tending the bar at 1:00 A.M. every-time I made that flight and he had the bar loaded with Guinness every-time we came off the plane...all 200 of us....I n ever got his name, but he should get some sort of Irish medal. I will also say that my wife and I toured Ireland a couple years ago and loved it. Particularly Dublin.
That approach into Knock made me tear up. I've been away in Australia a few years now and haven't been home due to the pandemic. I CAN NOT wait to be on final approach into Knock myself next year sometime.
Wow!! Beautiful….amazing!! Really liked the Shannon approach. Accompanying music was amazing, too… I have watched several cockpit landings, this one, in my opinion is the best.
I definitely found what I was looking for when I flew into Knock - my DNA matches show that some of my Mayo ancestors definitely lived in villages around where the airport is today. :-)
Spectacular footage - thanks for uploading (used to watch planes come in at EICK back in the day. The house just before the 17 threshold with the approach lights in the back garden used to fascinate me. Intriguing to see it from the air!)
When I look at the tarmac at Shannon I think of the great names that walked that piece of ground , jfk the pope john Paul, Boris yelstsen who failed to get off the plane because he was langersed drunk lol ha , my uncle Tom Benn ,big tom was head of security at Shannon, he's in the video of reeling in the years when borris never got off the plane , circled over Shannon for an hour while his people wondered what to do ,the red carpet was out and they were all waiting, Albert Reynolds bertie ahead hahah classic stuff..thanks again for the upload x
It is such a pity only airports in the Republic of Ireland were covered. Knock and Farrenfore are so insignificant when compared to Belfast Harbour and Belfast International Aldergrove.
Anytime I ever return to Ireland on a flight it’s sunny and clear, then in the final 15 mins of approach the cloud gets thick, it’s grey, usually raining and freezing cold, even in summer.
@@compactparabolic2002 I remember one time landing in Cork and there was no tunnel from the aircraft, so I went through the exit door and BAM! Cold wind and rain hit me like a freight train! It’s good to see the green green grass of home!
If you really want some excitement try landing at kerry Airport with its crosswind brilliant fun and kangaroo jumps with the Aircraft!! All love and prayers tony
Aer Lingus (Shamrock) I would imagine... no hope of finding Ryanair in one of those "regional" airports in Ireland. Didn't even know there was one in Kerry, you wouldn't want to overshoot that runway!!
@@pjmccracken I'm fairly sure it's a Boeing 737 aircraft. Listen to the GPWS callouts. Airbus has different GPWS callouts, plus Aer Lingus doesn't fly Boeing aircraft so it is probably Ryanair.
Cork throught the clouds with the music was magical

Hope you got home in the end.

Lovely views of Ireland from the sky. The music was brilliant

Do aircraft manufacturers design jets to play music when approaching Irish airports? or is the music in the air?
For those looking for Cork Airport / EICK, jump forward to 11:00 for the closing minute or so of the approach to rwy 16
I've never taken off from, or landed at Knock or Shannon. Kerry is my nearest airport
I'm gonna boast. I've flown all these approached in the last 5 years!!
I haven’t flown into Knock or Dublin yet, hopefully will some day
I prefer family guy's version with all the beer bottles on the ground
Where are all the bottles ??? I thought the runway was going to be covered in beer bottles ???

If I had a punt for every time I landed in Shannon and Dublin over the past 50 years I'd be a wealthy man.
4:35 which music is that can anyone tell me 🙏🏼 please

@@pjmccracken Actually i think it is RyanAir. They go to all the airports listed.

Yep, Ryanair. Prior to the pandemic, they served more regional Irish airports than Aer Lingus.

What's with the music??Trad orchestral, Gladiator and U2. The pictures themselves can be the music. Like going up in an airport elevator!
I love the cockpit sounds myself - could just hear the altitudes as they neared the ground.
The pilots landed the planes whilst Irish dancing.
It was a bit distracting
Nice, but had to silence the music - was way over the top.
Why wasnt Waterford Airport included?
Haven’t been there. Runway is too short there.
@@compactparabolic2002 Ok cheers.
You couldn't land a bycycle there
@@johnoriordan7419 😂😂Thanks John I've never been there as such but I passed it once. At least were lucky its adequate enough to host Rescue 117.
Clare is so beautiful
Thank you! It really is! The whole island is beautiful!
Could do without the Riverdance music
Why the terrible music
Really irritating music soundtrack.
Different folks, different strokes.
