@@KarsielateeSuperman isn’t treated like an alien though. He’s more human than Batman psychologically. J’onn is distinctly non human. He actually struggles to connect with humans sometimes.
@@themindofmal It's just unpleasant to watch DC fail to do the other Leaguers justice (no pun intended). Superman should be an idealist leader who's still cautious (his main villain is an evil billionaire who he repeatedly investigates). Wonder Woman should be the loving champion of all people, who is willing to throw down, but she's not just 'fighter girl with a sword' (seriously hate lazy hacks who try to make her some misandrist, or reduce her to generic 'strong female character' have more than one girl superhero it's not hard people.). Barry Allen is an intelligent, honest, kind-hearted person, who I feel could be another foil for Batman, as the brain who uses his intellect to see the best in people, and helps others find the good in themselves (I do want him to die and then have Wally try to uphold his legacy, and respect the type of man Barry was). John Stewart Green Lantern (for the love of God, change his name), keep his nature from the comics and the JL cartoon, show his sense of responsibility, maybe have Batman be put off and have a brief moment where he goes 'Is that what I'm like?' Hal's fine, I just don't have as much of a connection with him. Zatanna (girl has issues, but she's crafty). I do like the idea of her having imposter syndrome, and also maybe being a little afraid of her power like Superman, but with even more hangups. Aquaman could be a foil for Wonder Woman.
Nah actually this is a fresh take, bc Batman is obviously dcs main guy, we need the justice league for the interest of other characters and letting them get there shine.
@@nicholasrodinos4701 same. I feel that the reason why fans care about the justice league mainly because Batman and DC loves glazing Bats till the ends of the earth
The Justice League ALWAYS needs to have a magic-based hero like Zatanna or Doctor Fate because their powers can handle the supernatural threats that other heroes simply can’t take on.
@@brunofarias8895 Be for real. Yes she has magical items and supernatural skills but she's not innately a magic user unlike Zatanna, Dr. Fate, Constantine, Raven, etc. You know what I meant
The Justice League is actually stronger and more interesting as individual heroes than as a team. While iconic together, the League sometimes waters down each character’s distinctiveness and potential. Superman’s strength, Batman’s intelligence, and Wonder Woman’s diplomacy often get sidelined to make room for team dynamics, which can limit the depth and emotional development each hero could have on their own. Sometimes, splitting them up creates better storytelling, as solo arcs allow for richer, more layered narratives that the team setting can’t always achieve.
18:22 In all honesty I've always preferred to have Barry Allen to be the original Flash, and Wally being the one who takes up the mantle. I didn't mind in the Justice League shows, but I've always preferred Wally being Barry's successor in basically every other version.
I always imagined a DCAU Barry Allen show to be similar to the 3D "Beware the Batman" to compliment the GL series. Sort of like Jimmy Neutron. Maybe Cel-shaded? Idk. Just a lot of forensics science, speed and oh now I remember there used to be an MTV Spidey-show like that. That's essentially how I'd have loved a Barry show.
7:37 the League never really has this problem in comics. The dynamics of the league may have pairings or cliques, but they never feel like a family. To quote Green Arrow: “Like I always say, the JSA may teach you how to be a hero…And the Titans may teach you to be a family… But the League-Sure, it teaches you how to protect, but from the very start-The League teaches you how to fight.” You won’t catch them playing poker like the avengers, going out on the town like the Titans, or having meet ups and meals together like the JSA. You’ll pretty much just see them do business.
The League does have their funtime though...they just tend to schedule it better. Young Justice (the original 1998 team) tends to also be the equivalent of "Bring your biggest fan by which I mean your kid to work day"
Right. When you see the league, it’s about to go down and when you join, it’s not to socialize, but join a team that will die to get the job done. Yes, there are members who hang OUTSIDE the league, but when you clock in, it’s go time!
Honestly, they’ve always been pushing to create the “platonic ideal” Flash. They made Barry more like Wally. But before that, they gave Wally Barry’s Rogues even though they had retired around when Barry stepped up.
8:04 I have to agree with this hot take. I personally think there needs to be more media that has teams where not everyone is family. Sometimes characters should just be friends or coworkers. They can still be cordial and warm to each other, but not everyone has to be a found family. Personally, everytime I see a show or movie that has characters referring to each other as family despite little to no connection there, I just tune out.
10:05 I say have both, that way one's a back-up for the other. The Hall of Justice is there to ensure the League feels human, while also creating easier channels for communication. The Watchtower is there for situations the League can't detect from Earth.
my opinion on the take about the Justice League having become "less popular" than the avengers after the endgame movie is that: The avengers became more popular to general audiences BECAUSE of the MCU, meanwhile the Justice League was always well known and will always be the most popular superhero team 🤷 i can literally ask my granny if she knows superman and wonder woman and she'll reply that so, and im pretty sure the answer won't be the same if i ask about captain america or black widow...
@@imafolklorestan I agree but if DC doesn't step up, newer generations that would eventually become grandfathers/mothers would likely associate to Marvel heroes and then the mind conditioning of the generations after that would go on. I hope that wouldn't be the case and Gunn would put JL into the pedestal where JL belongs
I my main lineup would be Batman, Superman, Flash (Barry Allen), Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Black Canary, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. I prefer Barry being in the JL and as the original flash I love his relationship with Bruce and Hal.
Hot take, the league roster after Infinite Crisis and 52 during the One Year Later time arc was the best JL arc. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Black Lightning, Roy Harper becoming Red Arrow, Wally West Flash, Vixen, Green Lanterns (Hal and John too sometimes), Red Tornado, Kendra as Hawkgirl, and Black Canary as the chairwoman of the League. I haven’t enjoyed a JL run since Pre-New 52. Just like I haven’t enjoyed The Avengers since New Avengers
I like the justice league as a small group but I also love the idea of the new Justice league unlimited where different teams are formed depending on who’s needed in a particular mission. It must be fun for writers too to come up with a mission and THEN think of what heroes they need. Green lantern, zatanna, animal man and metamorpho? Sure, why not?
Yeah once you get over ten members this is how it should work. Plus coming up with the mission/story first then pick characters sounds like a way to get amazing stories.
I think the hot take at 7:32 about the justice league not needing to be a family is 100% true. A big example of this type of dynamic is in Persona 3. While in persona 4 and 5 the characters are extremely close like a family, in persona 3 the characters have their own issues with each other, and some are friends than others. This is because they are all on the team because they are the only people with these powers to help the world, not specifically because they want to be around their friends. The hot take at 10:43 is also relevant here because like I said, the characters in the persona 3 cast are closer to some people than they are to others, and some just straight up don’t really like each other to begin with. The dynamic between the persona 3 cast is so much more interesting because of this, and I think the justice league would benefit from this sort of depth as well.
Hot take: the original 7 team is the true justice league. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern (Hal), Flash (Barry), Martian Manhunter.
Superman should ALWAYS be depicted as the first DC super-powered hero to become known to the public. Others can be established as EXISTING before him, but their existence needs to have been pretty much SECRET! Superman is the one who started it all, and making him just another superhero in a world already full of them ruins his entire character…I’m looking at YOU James!
I like the idea established Post-Crisis that he was around, but wasn't really known until the start of the silver age. I also like how the DCU has been handling it since Infinite Crisis. Anything before the Crisis remains unaffected besides the melding at that point. Any significant events that change the course of history slightly alter the ending to Crisis. The JSA/All-Stars, Freedom Fighters, Boy Commandos, Newsboy Legion, 7 Soldiers and Squadron of Justice being public before Superman is actually an interesting idea. Especially since now they're going with the idea that Jonathan Kent and Martha Clark were high schoolers when The JSA was active. There's no way that they would be marrying while still school given that Jonathan Kent Sr. is the real Superman as far as Clark's concerned...not him, not Jor-El, not even Zor-El...except we know Clark had another word for Superman..."dad." This also makes Superman's debut all that much more impactful too because of a methods comment made. In the Golden Age you could actually use more peaceful methods, but by the time Superman shows up...a transition to more direct and violent methods have become popular and by the time the Teen Titans form, violence is preferred and expected...even when others don't like it. Also...somebody's gotta turn on the lights first before anyone can do the type of stuff Clark does. It's not bad to change up the order after Crisis because it provides a much more valid reason for Superman to not be involved in WW2 than just accidents during eye exams. If Superman is Superboy during that time and off with the legion, then it will not minimize the efforts of the American Soldiers like Steve Trevor. The only reason why Diana Prince was allowed when normally big 3 restrictions would have prevented it was because of her dayjob of being a qualified doctor.
@@Superlad9494 You had no reason to write all that. Sorry to break this to you pal but you ain’t talking to a Superman noob. I literally already know all of that. Though Infinite Crisis is no longer the primary canon of New Earth. After Dr Manhattan created the New 52 universe and then created the DC Rebirth, Superman’s New 52 Origin has been combined with the Secret Origin.
@@thomaskilroy4573 everything is canon now...and yes I did, I wanted you to understand that the current canon idea is not a bad one...and I never said Superman was a noob, I just said I like him being a "Young New Hero" type character as Superman. Earth-2, Earth-S, Earth-X, Earth-4, Earth-8, Earth-M and Earth-1 Pre-Crisis all remained intact before the Crisis. The Crisis combined them all into Earth-1985. Flashpoint turned it into Earth-0 after adding Earth-13 and Earth-50 when it wasn't supposed to change. DDC split Earth-1985 (Post-Crisis) and Earth-52 apart, but Death Metal remerged them because if they're split Barry gets off scott free (Mr. Miracle pun intended hehe) being "the nice boy with a nice life who knows better" compared to Hal being the good boy with a harsh life who makes mistake and goes awol until he calms down. The current canon states Alan Scott is first, then Jay Garrick, then Diana Prince. It has been this way since Doomsday Clock, even though 5G tried to state that Diana was first, which no she wasn't because logically she cannot arrive to Man's World any earlier than Sept. 1, 1939 because that is her whole thing. If you want Superman in the golden age, logically he should be Superboy in Wartime and begin a new era as Superman after the crisis happens.
@@Superlad9494 I said I’M NOT A NOOB! You feel the need to lecture me on Superman! Child…I’ve probably forgotten more about Superman than you’ll ever learn.
The JL cartoon roster is legit, but the depictions of the characters wasn't quite it for some. Wonder Woman was kinda not done proper justice in that show imo.
That’s why I liked the titans rebirth run and the continuation into the death of the justice league and the titans becoming the premier team, as that team felt like the sidekicks finally growing up and replacing the justice league
One I forgot to mention on the original post is Captain Atom is very under used character in the JL. Depending on the origin you use that would make a good movie
Ayyye Thanks for choosing my comment! Don't see alot of youtubers engaging like this- Thanks and keep up with the good work! (Even if you didn't agree with me lol)
No problem man! And thank you very much! I always want to try and bring in positive conversation instead of heated arguments the comic community tends to have now a days.
Thanks for the shoutout! Love watching your videos and was happily surprised to hear my name/opinion finally in a video!! Always excited to hear more and would love to collaborate on a video sometime!
heavy disagree on your last point. the league is a team, like a sports team almost. the members can change die or be replaced but at the end of the day the team name remains where the players are interchanged. obviously it’s different since it’s a fictional team and is so tied to a core couple of characters but in universe for the team to stay after loosing even the big three id still say that makes sense. the team isn’t just its leaders it’s everyone involved. the concept of heroes coming together to save the world
Big fan of the Hall of Justice, not really for a story reason, but it’s based on a building in my hometown of Cincinnati (Union Terminal). They picked the building because the Super Friends cartoon was made in Cincinnati. I’m sure some people already knew that and I know it’s a Hot Take. But I just think it’s an interesting fact that I love to share.
Grant Morrison consciously wrote the JLA as modern versions of Olympus. So that applies to their dynamic. My hot take? They would have only went to war with each other when their patron cities are at war.
@@justicierodelaliga My theory is that this is why Morrison's JLA run was able to make that not-so-popular Electric-Blue Superman actually work thematically. Kal-El was the stand-in for Zeus when in most traditions he's a stand-in for Herakles (as the strongman). But by being a literal embodiment of lightning? Yup. Total Zeus lol. Kinda goes back to Alan Moore's Marvelman.
I’ve read Justice League for so long that anyone who argues that: - their fav hero is not included -certain heroes that should not be included All of this and other ideas have been DONE BEFORE! For example, someone on here posted that a magical hero to handle magical threats. That’s been done and one can say the very first JLA VOL. 1 handled magical threats without Zatanna in the very first few issues. The league did include her much later. Is is interesting to have her in or have the team figure it out without her help?
They’ve backed out of the idea for now but I believe the Titans really should replace the JL. At some point the grown up sidekicks and company have to be the premier team for the next generation.
With the mortal gods vibe that DC has going on, what with its power scales being on a completely other level than Marvel’s, I see the League as a pantheon and is as broad and rich as those we find in mythology. I like the wide roster, especially because so few heroes are anything to scoff at in DC. Hell, relative B listers like Beast Boy can turn into dragons, phoenixes, and Starros! C listers like Swampthing have access to all of The Green, and even Firestorm who has never gotten much time in the spotlight is a powerhouse worth standing alongside Superman and Martian Manhunter. At this point, turn The League into Men in Black. It’s not like they’re the type to save people from a burning building anymore. Flash alone can do that in the time it takes his morning coffee to brew. They should always be in the public eye, but as an agency; Not this little friendly powwow
The fact these hero’s share trauma and hardships, they are already closely bound. They can’t just be coworkers. They only work as family. We’ve seen coworker hero’s in josstice league and it was awful
If you want sixths and sevenths that’ll tell interesting stories and create internal conflict, look to Lobo, Harley, Firestorm, Killer Frost, Constantine, Zetana, Aquaman (if he were written like the morally complex king that he is) and Fate. Like Logan to the X-Men, you have to have at least one messy character willing to cross lines or it becomes a bunch of buddies playing pattycake for 40 issues until the next big event comes along
If Batman shouldn't be in the Justice league, why should any human hero? You know people like; Wildcat, Mr Terrific, Green arrow, Blue Beetle, Steel, Nightwing, etc. Why would they be on the league and not Batman?? How come these street level characters are superheroes but when it's Batman then he's just a vigilante and should not be in the league?
In the context of this video people were mostly talking about the league in the context of 6-10 members, aside from Green Arrow no one is putting a “normal” human there. My issue with Batman on the team isn’t that he’s just a human (though honestly with everything he does & knows he isn’t) It’s that he suffocates everyone else by demanding attention. Leave some stuff for the rest of the League to do. If Batman (and to an extent Superman) weren’t on the team you’d get to see the other league members step up in a major way to fill the gap.
@@guardiantree8879 sorry but Batman is the most interested person in the league. Without him, i would not watch justice league because i have zero interest in other superheroes.
I would love to have a cartoon or comic about a team of underrated Leaguers forming their own specialized team. Here are some potentials: Black Lightning, Bloodwynd, Dr. Light (Kimiyo Hoshi), Mr. Terrific, Ragman, and Vixen. (I can't think of that many others I want on the team). Add your own members, as long as they're not too big like Superman or Wonder Woman.
Snyder cut justice league was sloppily put together, convoluted, and overall a bore. There are definitely things that made it better than Joss’s, but I do not think it should get the praise it does
I guess my hot take would be similiar to Den3zo. Its basically nto having wonder woman date ethier Superman or Batman but have them be in a sibling relationship. It honestly just feels more natrual with them being the trrinity and puts them on even plahing fields. Also Flashs and Gl's of all types should be best friends not on the level of the trinity but still extremely close. Basically im thinking they'd all have thier clicks like how you'd see in highschhol. They can come togther and work well if needed but normally wouldn't.
Due to team rosters in the comics & on Justice League Unlimited, whenever I say Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Barry Allen/The Flash, John Stewart/Green Lantern, Aquaman, & Martian Manhunter are the real original Justice League & should always be the founding members is a hot take or unpopular opinion.
On the account of the Justice League core members, I agree that the big three of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman should be founding and commonly recurring members, but they should have their moments of absence from the Justice League team. Batman should have to occasionally return to Gotham when threats too daunting for the Bat family (but not large enough of a threat to involve the whole Justice League) to help set things right. Ghis would allow other high-profile heroes to fill in his shoes temporarily. A similar case could/should be made for both Wonder Woman and Superman, respectively. It's one of the gripes I have with DC's shared universe canon/continuity. They write big storylines for their individual Justice League members as if they're not part of a team that could better handle the issues together.
I would like to see the league without Batman & Superman as they demand so much attention from the story. Imagine how much more agency in the story Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter & others would have in a story? I’m not saying Superman & Batman never join the league, but maybe they only participate 10% of the time for those really nasty threats. Let the rest of the league shine.
my hot take: none of the immediate legacy characters outside of wally and jon kent have the full capacity to fully assume the mantle of any of the main 7. nightwing: not as strong physically or as good a detective and tactician donna troy: not as strong and i think she isn’t truly immortal like ww jess cruz/simon baz: not as strong willed as the current main lanterns with the main flaw these 4 share being they lack the potency to truly fight back against a true league threat
JLA roster has changed: Whenever you keep the DC Trinity and Flash away it stops being JLA in my mind. The Seven was official. Super Friends had Aquaman as a staple. JLA brought back the Seven but with third generation versions of Flash & GL. Timmverse gave us MM, John Stewart, and Hawkgirl. Snyderverse gave us Cyborg and Aquaman as staple. People were ok with that. Which means: Superman, Batman, WW, and the Flash are the only non-changeable members of the JLA.
I didn’t see the community post for this one but my hot take is they should take a focus on the public image aspect of the justice league similar to something like civil war. I know similar things have been done but I’m just of the opinion in general that there should always be some sort of focus on the fact that there would be people who would disapprove of superheroes no matter how much good they do .
Hot take: I don’t like cyborg on the justice league. They don’t need a tech guy. And even if they did use Mr terrific or elevate someone like elastic man into the tech guy. Also the justice league needs a Superman level “blaster”character. Black lightning, fire, or dr light. Someone whose whole thing is ranged attacks. Green lantern’s constructs aren’t really energy attacks. And super man has enough going on, his laser vision isn’t really his primary attack type. Also young Justin shows how powerful a telepath is on the team. DC needs another telepath/telekinetic. Someone like miss Martian, a heroic psymon, psylock, Quintin quire, Emma frost etc…
My JLA: Superman Batman Wonder Woman The Flash (Barry Allen) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) Aquaman Martian Manhunter The original / Big Seven members will always be my favorites. Perfect representation of the most recognizable and powerful heroes in DC. I wouldn't be mad if they went with a different Big Seven or less or more members for the DCU, as long as the story is good.
My perfect Justice League is well look no further than Justice League The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited Those two shows and the members in it are who I think about when you say "Justice League"
Arguably flashes rogues are the most op villians who could probably take down anyone else with the right motivation mirror master can go into any reflection including there enemys eyes you could never hide, heatwaves fire can melt the rubber of of flashes boots that were made to resist the speedforces effects, weather wizard can make a tornado grow inside your stomach, axel or james either trickster can run on air which stops most from catching them, captain cold can slow down the flash sometimes by a lot they would be unstoppable with the right goal and I just really love them
Justice League is Supes, Bats, Wondie...Pick Barry or Wally as Flash...pick a Lantern...then you have the flex slots: 1-3. At least if we talking the main roster. You could probably in theory mix it up if say Gunn's DCU runs 10 Plus Years. I think really how you design the JL Roster hinges on who you pick as the Lantern...John, Hal, Jessica, Carol, Etc....
@@BigReek99 this is so true, the john stewart push is SOO annoying the character is boring as hell, i wouldn't mind if hal was replaced with an interesting lantern like kyle or jessica but nooo. Wally i dont mind so much because while i love barry, wally has been screwed over for YEARS.
Said it once but I'll say it again. 1.Batman should not be standing up against Gods or entities like Darkseid, Eclipso, despero. I don't mind him fighting meta humans like posion ivy, Clayface or even supernatural threats like Dracula or a werewolf etc(except for characters that can easily take him out with a nanosec like flash), if he's supposed to be a grounded hero he should have human limitations. He's been kidnapped, washed and or knocked out by opponents weaker or stronger than him. He can't defeat wonder woman and he always needs back up even when handling his rogues. Just have him as a field commander/tactical genius guiding or mentoring some of the league members. 2. I Think there should be a back up justice league like new avengers where Spider-Man, Luke cage, wolverine and the thing are a team. No I'm not talking about young justice or justice society of America but something similar like justice league dark. 3. Be consistent with flashes powers, is he lightspeed or run 50mph he should not be getting tagged by Batman or catwoman 4. IDK if they done this but I think it would be interesting if WW take the role as a trainer for the rest of JL testing their fight skills and potential, like Black canary in young justice
Wonder Woman should be the leader of the justice league. She’s older than majority of those characters and has the leadership skills and I see her in an Optimus Prime type role stay away from me Superman stans bat stans idc Diana needs to be given more leadership roles more than just the warrior
The weakest hot take was suggesting Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman be removed from The Justice League. Other characters can have fun individual stories here and there. There is a reason these characters are so dominant. The writing is so strong allowing for a more consistently strong narrative to be written with those characters. DC has tried introducing a new generation of heroes several times. It is either a rehash of an existing origin story which has been done before; Or, it is a story in which the writers have no real faith and vision in the new characters being introduced. This does not just mean brand new characters either. It is any Young Justice or new generation team. Which can include Teen Titans members as an example or just a hodgepodge of various characters thrown into a team. We as watchers can feel the source material is weak for these movies and series.
Huge DC fan. TOTALLY disagree with the comment that the Bruce Timm lineup is the definitive one and that it defined a generation. As a general take in terms of the portrayal itself fine. But not the core members. That is: Wally instead of Barry and, especially, Stewart instead of Hal. ...more so with me being a GL/Hal fan. I can understand that back in the day both Barry and Hal were dead and, as such, couldn´t be used. That being said. once they came back to life they are meant to be the core members they always were. They just are since they were the original founding members and were so for DECADES. More so, Green Lanterns aren´t intercheangables just because they all belong to the GL Corps. Each of them have their own personality and way of using the Power Ring. ...would anyone stand if they replaced Superman for Superboy? Wonder Woman for Artemis? Batman for Nightwing? After all, they still have the same powers and abilities. Not to mention that one main key different from DC and Marvel are the secret identities. There are very few characters in DC that don´t have it. And, with the excpetion of Cyborg for obvious reason (and being a part of the team recently) and Martian Manhunter (that can still have a secret identity by just creating an identity) it wouldn´t fit to have them all with a secret identity with one that doesn´t. And I´m BEYOND tired of the comment: Justice League TV defined a generation. You talk about it as if we were talking Game of Thrones. ..let me explain. Prior to Game of Thrones there were very populat TV shows worldwide. Let´s say Xena: Warrior Princess and Fresh-Prince. And while, very well known neither you can´t say that most of the world were on board or watched it all. In this case, let me stick with Xena that had a definitive story. While plenty of people did watch the show, how many watched it from beginning to end? Not many. Now, let´s get back to Game of Thrones. Now, that´s a show that it was popular worldwide and even though a fantasy one made fans of people from ALL over even if they weren´t fans of fantasy. The show was followed and talked about episode by episode. So much so that you can randomly ask any person of the street and they could tell you that they watched it. Let´s go back to Justice League/Unlimited. First off, as great as it was it was still a cartoon. How many people would have watched it back then that weren´t kids and/or fans of animation/comics? More so, you´re living in a bubble believing the show aired world wide. For instance, I know that Justice League did air in Spain but Unlimited didn´t. And that´s just Spain. Have you considered how popular/watched the show was beyond United States? ...go ask randomly a person on the street who grew up/watched JL-Unlimited? Also, in animation Hal has been there since Superfriends. All the way up until JL-Unlimited. And, after? In plenty of direct to DVD movies, The Batman, games and (for better or worse) his live action movie. So, he had much more appearances. And the character itself of Stewart is boring. Just is. From the way he handles his powers (shooting and shields) to his story. For years they´ve done NOTHING with him. The only relevant him about him is that he destroyed Xanshi. And even that wasn´t original from him. It was taken from an old Hal story. The same way they had to give him Sinestro to fight because he doesn´t have any villains. Heck, even Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz that were basically recently created were given more interesting stories and personalities than him.
Totally true. People see John with nostalgia but if you read gl comics, he is the most boring lantern by far. Hal should be the one on the league, but Kylie would be the other best option
My League team would be, Batman, Sup, Wonder Woman, Flash ( Barry), Hal ( GL), Martian Manhunter, Hawk girl/Aquaman. Then add green arrow, Aquaman/Hawkgirl and black canary and maybe even mr terrific later down the line. Wally and cyborg better be in teen titan or titans
Batman, superman and winderowmn should be friends/equals, then the rest have there own cliques, for example the flash and batman get along, but Hal and batman don’t, nir do green arrow and batman etc.
Oh I missed this one, anyway my "hot takes" are based on the lineups then the general team as a whole -I don't really see aquaman as a core/must have for any justice league, I know he's a founder and all but I've never really seen any story where he plays a major role or any big dynamics he has sans maybe wonder woman, honestly I prefer your whole idea on zatanna being apart of the main 7 with him only really appearing on the team in bog big events -I do not care for the hawks and I don't see what they even add to the justice league besides nth metal I guess -I honestly don't get captain marvel (I'm not calling him shazam) on the league, he's basically always the young one on the league, and I think it's odd they never thought on using him as a main member on a titans/young justice
Agree on all counts. Aquaman works really well on his own. As for the hawks, their convoluted history is enough proof to see that DC writers have not figured out what to do with them. For all its faults, the CW arrowverse did do an interesting take on them by making them reincarnated humans with Vandal Savage as an enemy. Captain Marvel needs to set up Fawcett city in my opinion, instead of trying to fit into other team ups
I always saw Wonder Woman as an adventurer/authoritarian character. She's a princess and has been isolated on Themyscira for thousands of years from the outside world.
shazam should be a rival to superman a bit like how ronaldo and messi are rivals, im not saying they should hate each other they should be mates but the public should always compare them which is what i hope the DCU does if they factor in social media superman and shazam should be some of the msot followed people on earth just like messi and ronaldo, not even just social media, the people count the major threats they beat the regular saves kind of like how they compare ronaldo and messis stats
The core JL members should be Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern John Stewart, Martian Man (don't use the "hunter" part), the Flash Wally West (Barry could be the first Flash to join but ultimately leave to focus on family), Zatanna (because shes awesome) and Batman reluctantly. I think Batman should not play too publicly a role in the Justice League but behind the scenes he has a seat at the table on the Watchtower council because hello, its his space station... Characters that should never be Justice League members are Green Arrow, Plastic Man, Shazam, Cyborg, Supergirl etc. They of course can work with the JL but not become official memvers either because the core roster don't think its a good fit or because they themselves dont want to join such a group (like Green Arrow). Black Canary can be a JL member for sure though along with Aquaman who would at first not want to be on the team, then reluctantly join, then vacate due to various reasons.
I hate how people have this common misconception that prior to the MCU Characters like Captain America, Iron-Man, Thor and the Avengers weren’t popular and that Marvel “real big 3’’ was Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine and the X-Men when in reality this is far from the truth, Its honestly really baffling to me that people actually think that this is true, the Avengers have literally been a staple of Marvel Comics for decades way before the MCU was a thing and they, Spider-Man and the FF4 were Marvel’s Big 3. The Original 60s Run of the X-Men unlike the Avengers sucked, In fact it got so bad that It was canceled after 66 Issues and low sales same thing happened to the Hulk, his initially Series was canceled after just 6 Issues and afterwards for like 5 Years the X-Men were just there and Spider-Man, FF4 and the Avengers continued to be Marvel’s Big 3. It wasnt until 1975 after the release of Giant Size X-Men #1 where the team actually got popular but even then they weren't THAT popular and it really wasnt until the late 80s where they started to become more mainstream, same with Wolverine. Hulk didnt even become popular until his TV-Show with Lou Ferrigno came out in 1977 which ran up until 1982. It was only once the 90s started where the X-Men started to Overshadow the Avengers and FF4 especially after the release of X-Men TAS, it was only during this time period that Spider-Man, Hulk and Wolverine/X-Men were considered Marvel’s big 3. The Avengers and FF4 were having low sales especially after Heroes Reborn but when Kurt Busiek came on the write the Avengers in 1998 where they regained popularity and for all the 2000s they were extremely popular same with the FF4. and to the people saying that Cap wasnt popularity stfu, he was literally created during some of the Darkest Years of WW2 way before WW and he literally gave people hope, I mean for christ sake in Issue 1 he’s literally punching Hitler in the Face and when he died his Death was literally published on the New York Times and broadcasted on channels such as CNN. as for Iron-Man he was extremely popular and his Series peaked above 200,000 copies in the mid-80s during David Michelinie and Bob Layton’s first run on the title and during the 90s he even got his own Animated Series. Also the argument that the Avengersare only ‘’popular bc of the mcu’’ is stupid since most heroes/teams get popular bc of adaptations and not the comics themselves. I mean do people honestly believe that Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman and the Justice League would have been as popular as they are today if not for their respective Shows?
No you’re way wrong, Spiderman Hulk and Wolverine were the big 3 100%. There’s a reason when Marvel went bankrupt and had film rights off Sony, Universal, and Fox went after them.
You are 100% right and the same thing has often bothered me. All those characters were popular for decades before the mcu but people would have you believe Ironman, cap, Thor, and avengers couldn’t sell a book until the movies
@ yeah even though I’ve like the older issues cuz I own volume 1 which I bought when I was first getting into comics they generally weren’t well liked by most people.
The reason GL John Stewart should be a core JL member is simple: he was an army brat. Stewart was chosen to defend Earth and he chose long before being a Green Lantern to protect his country/hometown. With GL Hal Jordan though, we face a different character with an entirely different mindset. Hal Jordan always wanted to fly, he always wanted to travel and he always wanted to go to space. Hal never felt confined by Earth, he wished to explore. Being a Green Lantern in space primarily makes sense for Hal. John Stewart never had any interest in exploring the world or leaving Earth for some grand adventure. He only wants to keep his home safe and stay nearby to keep eyes on it. This grounds him as an Earth specific Green Lantern. As for the other Green Lanterns, i only like Guy Gardner and he should exist to replace Hal after being killed off in storyline. None of the other GL members from Earth should ever be Justice League members because quite frankly, none of the other Green Lanterns should exist. Kyle Rayner was a horrible, bland, unnecessary character and i still don't know why he was created. He was used so briefly and to my knowledge has had no comic book appearances since 2000.
What are you on about, Kyle rayner was the main green lantern for over a decade (1994-2005( and even after that he didn't dissappear and was still used in gl corps, even in the n52 he was prominent in New guardians
Kyle is the best of all Lanterns. He's able to use all 9 rings and actually has the most creative constructs. Guy just makes bats...that's bland. John Stewart also shows why the yellow/fear weakness is necessary...he used to be even worse than Guy with grandstanding and had a bit of "Zod" complex according to other Black DC heroes and Martian Manhunter...and Martian Manhunter kindly told him to cool his invisible jets and not self-destruct after the Xanshi incident. John also is an architecht...he can make highly detailed constructs.
treating batman having contingency against league like it's a bad thing while they have: evil versions, mind control, alternate earths, clones, magical evil clone versions or straight up general fucking zod who is another kryptonian and flash has reverse flash so no, batman carrying a bar of kryptonite in his belt is not stupid or evil - it's common sense and flash or superman being one of THE fastest people in the galaxy and still being written in such terrible way that they can't make it in time or serious mistreatment of characters if you write joker nuking metropolis then at least make it a once in a million years stroke of genius not complete bullshit as well as trying to follow the dumbass trend of every comic being IN the canon timeline joker should be sent directly to chair after his second breakout
No for sure growing up DC had so many animated movies and shows The Justice league was way popular before the mcu And it’s disappointing but I am glad that the low level marvel characters got there time in the spot light But I’d love to see more dc projects

It's not the Justice League without Martian Manhunter.
Agreed!

Hot Take: The Justice League would be great, if we didn't spend all of our time worshipping Batman and turning him into the God King of DC Comics.
this feels directed at WB lmaoo. i been saying they are Batman everything
I blame Paul Dini lol
The Justice League ALWAYS needs to have a magic-based hero like Zatanna or Doctor Fate because their powers can handle the supernatural threats that other heroes simply can’t take on.
Hawkgirl's mace being anti-magic was a good segway for them not having a magic-based hero in the first season of JL
Isn’t Doctor Fate on the Justice Society?
@@NickWhite-fw7dx He's been a member of both JL and JS
Wonder Woman can do this
@@brunofarias8895 Be for real.
It still wouldn’t hurt to have another JL movie down the road if they do it right.
@ yeah you r correct and totally agree I feel like Justice League Ultimate played a huge role
100% agreed. WW's diplomacy is next to non-existent in all of her jLA appearances, relegating her to the default warrioress every single time.
18:22 In all honesty I've always preferred to have Barry Allen to be the original Flash, and Wally being the one who takes up the mantle. I didn't mind in the Justice League shows, but I've always preferred Wally being Barry's successor in basically every other version.
Agree
Ironically, there was this one seen from the Justice League cartoon where all the heroes are having karaoke.
Hottake: Barry and Wally have become interchangeable since the Wallification of Barry Allen.
Unfortunately, I think you are onto something. They need to de-wallify barry.
They should give Wally his own identity. They both can´t Flash.
@@justicierodelaliga then they shouldn't have brought Barry back from the dead.
7:10 honestly valid point! (Also thanks for featuring my opinion in the vid, love your content!)
I my main lineup would be
Batman, Superman, Flash (Barry Allen), Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Black Canary, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. I prefer Barry being in the JL and as the original flash I love his relationship with Bruce and Hal.
Not going to lie, I’d like to see them try Mera on the league some instead of Aquaman.
me too.
7:34 I feel like at the very least they should feel like friends.
Shouldn´t be a hot take. It should be a given.
@@justicierodelaligait’s not a given because that’s not everyone’s first JL! I will always prefer the animated series lineup! That’s the iconic JL
Superman should ALWAYS be depicted as the first DC super-powered hero to become known to the public. Superman is the one who started it all, and making him just another superhero in a world already full of them ruins his entire character…I’m looking at YOU James!
@@thomaskilroy4573 bro has been malding since 1986
I like the idea established Post-Crisis that he was around, but wasn't really known until the start of the silver age.
There's no way that they would be marrying while still school given that Jonathan Kent Sr. is the real Superman as far as Clark's concerned...not him, not Jor-El, not even Zor-El...except we know Clark had another word for Superman..."dad."
This also makes Superman's debut all that much more impactful too because of a methods comment made.

❤ I agree about the WW and other solo hero villains being able to bring a JLA level threat.
heavy disagree on your last point. the league is a team, like a sports team almost. the members can change die or be replaced but at the end of the day the team name remains where the players are interchanged. obviously it’s different since it’s a fictional team and is so tied to a core couple of characters but in universe for the team to stay after loosing even the big three id still say that makes sense. the team isn’t just its leaders it’s everyone involved. the concept of heroes coming together to save the world
Big fan of the Hall of Justice, not really for a story reason, but it’s based on a building in my hometown of Cincinnati (Union Terminal). They picked the building because the Super Friends cartoon was made in Cincinnati. I’m sure some people already knew that and I know it’s a Hot Take. I really should. I'm very inconsistent with that but I need to be better!
I’d keep the family feel of the league, but maybe they each have that one member they don’t like or argue with.
Grant Morrison consciously wrote the JLA as modern versions of Olympus. So that applies to their dynamic.
My hot take? They would have only went to war with each other when their patron cities are at war.
I loved that. And didn´t make the connection until the comic.
I’ve read Justice League for so long that anyone who argues that:
- their fav hero is not included
-certain heroes that should not be included
All of this and other ideas have been DONE BEFORE!
For example, someone on here posted that a magical hero to handle magical threats. That’s been done and one can say the very first JLA VOL. 1 handled magical threats without Zatanna in the very first few issues. The league did include her much later.
Is is interesting to have her in or have the team figure it out without her help?
Great video!!!
My issue with Batman on the team isn’t that he’s just a human (though honestly with everything he does & knows he isn’t)
It’s that he suffocates everyone else by demanding attention.

Let the rest of the league shine.
my hot take: none of the immediate legacy characters outside of wally and jon kent have the full capacity to fully assume the mantle of any of the main 7.
nightwing: not as strong physically or as good a detective and tactician

with the main flaw these 4 share being they lack the potency to truly fight back against a true league threat
@@The-InfinityBrothers Honestly, my ideal batman successor is the tag team of Tim Drake and Cassandra Cain.
The JLA should be by rights more popular with the Avengers, but Warner Bros has been amazingly incompetent when it comes to handling those characters.
JLA roster has changed:
Whenever you keep the DC Trinity and Flash away it stops being JLA in my mind.
Which means:
Superman, Batman, WW, and the Flash are the only non-changeable members of the JLA.
12:51 sadly the new Justice League on the comics it's about every hero in the world being part of the Justice League... 🥲
Someone like miss Martian, a heroic psymon, psylock, Quintin quire, Emma frost etc…
the only one that should "replace" superman if he well and trult retires or dies, supermans role i mean should be shazam
My JLA:
Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
The Flash (Barry Allen)
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Aquaman
Martian Manhunter
The original / Big Seven members will always be my favorites. Perfect representation of the most recognizable and powerful heroes in DC. I wouldn't be mad if they went with a different Big Seven or less or more members for the DCU, as long as the story is good.
My perfect Justice League is well look no further than Justice League The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited
Those two shows and the members in it are who I think about when you say "Justice League"
I'd say no one did it better than Young Justice Season 1 and 2 when it came to the Hall of Justice and the Watch Tower
Hotter take :
Justice League Unlimited Main Team is overrated
“He’s the one I grew up with” I can’t count how many times I’ve seen that comment lol.
@@crazy_leoneanexactly, it’s so annoying, especially when talking about Wally & John being on the team instead of Barry & Hal
@@crazy_leonean I swearr, people just pretend like its this perfect adaptation when its not, especially with characters who arent batman.
I agree about the keep Batman unofficial. Been saying that since i was a kid.
Another awesome video! I have the notifications turned on for a reason. Quick question. Have you done a Hot Takes video for Amanda Waller or Owlman?
Thanks man that's good to hear! And no I haven't but I'll add them to the list!
Question have you watched Avengers EMH? its fantastic and imo is just as good as JLU.
100%. The best marvel and dc shows respectively
I think the JL should be like the JL Unlimited - all heroes in good standing are invited to join .
3. Be consistent with flashes powers, is he lightspeed or run 50mph he should not be getting tagged by Batman or catwoman
4. IDK if they done this but I think it would be interesting if WW take the role as a trainer for the rest of JL testing their fight skills and potential, like Black canary in young justice
The Justice League does have reserves
The League does train together, Wonder Woman is part of that and has taught
Wonder Woman should be the leader of the justice league. She’s older than majority of those characters and has the leadership skills and I see her in an Optimus Prime type role stay away from me Superman stans bat stans idc Diana needs to be given more leadership roles more than just the warrior
@@senior_sakuga as a fan of both batman and superman I think you are right.
What is broski jabbering about
Totally true.
"Any more than 10 is pushing it" I have some interesting news for yall lmao.
Batman, superman and winderowmn should be friends/equals, then the rest have there own cliques, for example the flash and batman get along, but Hal and batman don’t, nir do green arrow and batman etc.
I like aquaman better then cyborg.
Who is the lady on the thumbnail underneath the atom and above firestorm and whos the other lady on the right underneath hawkman is that black canary
Do a hot takes video on the teen titans team and do a hot takes video on john constantine
endgames a joke. adjusted for inflation, it's only #16 in highest grossing films.
Gone With The Wind is still the king.
@@KardboardKenny no, even when adjusted for inflation, its still in the top 5 highest grossing
What would you do for the avengers if you had a say to make them on par with the justice league popularity in comics.
That's funny that there is a lot of Supermen, Flashs, Green Laterns, but Batman is always Bruce Wayne)
No, dickbat led his own justice league
yeah the justice leauge is so much better then the avengers in my opinon
Oh I missed this one, anyway my "hot takes" are based on the lineups then the general team as a whole
-I don't really see aquaman as a core/must have for any justice league, I know he's a founder and all but I've never really seen any story where he plays a major role or any big dynamics he has sans maybe wonder woman, honestly I prefer your whole idea on zatanna being apart of the main 7 with him only really appearing on the team in bog big events
-I do not care for the hawks and I don't see what they even add to the justice league besides nth metal I guess
-I honestly don't get captain marvel (I'm not calling him shazam) on the league, he's basically always the young one on the league, and I think it's odd they never thought on using him as a main member on a titans/young justice
MASSIVELY agree with the Hawks. There are so many other characters I'd rather see being used.
I always saw Wonder Woman as an adventurer/authoritarian character. She's a princess and has been isolated on Themyscira for thousands of years from the outside world.
My hot take would be that DCAU has the best 7 lead roster
You had me until you defended the Snyder cut, both versions of that movie are fucking terrible
shazam should be a rival to superman a bit like how ronaldo and messi are rivals, im not saying they should hate each other they should be mates but the public should always compare them which is what i hope the DCU does if they factor in social media superman and shazam should be some of the msot followed people on earth just like messi and ronaldo, not even just social media, the people count the major threats they beat the regular saves kind of like how they compare ronaldo and messis stats
Aww. I was hoping that my take was good enough to be used this time. Rip.
Can you a do a hot take for the justice league dark.
@@sharendavis9216I love how you didn’t even read my whole comment bc you ignore the truth you’re research dumbass😂😂😂
You are 100% right and the same thing has often bothered me. All those characters were popular for decades before the mcu but people would have you believe Ironman, cap, Thor, and avengers couldn’t sell a book until the movies
It’s funny because I own the original first 10 X-men issues and they’re actually pretty good story wise, suprisingly The Blob was done really well.
John also is an architecht...he can make highly detailed constructs.
treating batman having contingency against league like it's a bad thing while they have: evil versions, mind control, alternate earths, clones, magical evil clone versions or straight up general fucking zod who is another kryptonian and flash has reverse flash so no, batman carrying a bar of kryptonite in his belt is not stupid or evil - it's common sense
and flash or superman being one of THE fastest people in the galaxy and still being written in such terrible way that they can't make it in time
or serious mistreatment of characters
if you write joker nuking metropolis then at least make it a once in a million years stroke of genius not complete bullshit
as well as trying to follow the dumbass trend of every comic being IN the canon timeline
joker should be sent directly to chair after his second breakout
No for sure growing up DC had so many animated movies and shows
The Justice league was way popular before the mcu
And it’s disappointing but I am glad that the low level marvel characters got there time in the spot light
But I’d love to see more dc projects
You seem like a very cool Dude
Thanks man, very kind of you to say!
could you do a teen titans hot takes next, i think it would be interesting
I'll put it on the list!
WW should also not be JLA. She was originally JSA but even still, she is someone who works against the status quo. JLA serves the status quo.
You're right. Wonder Woman is a rebellious character.
"Jla serves the status quo" who the fuck asked for x men fans justicewague takes
How I would make marvel house of L PLEASE
Ugh. Give me the Moon Base any day.
hell its DC the base itself should be protected by several dimensions, the justice league base should be the equivilent to galifrey, aint no way you could invade it without chucking several universes at it
Justice league all the way
