The original is one of my favourite Ben Howard songs but this adds a mellow sad angle to it which I love as well. The original was almost as though it was raw and still going on, and with this version its almost as though he's reminiscing of something long ago.
Don't get me wrong, banging, but the best version of this HAS to be the Rock en Seine version. The anger, the passion at the end. That's what get it for me!

Wait is this Hammerstein Nyc? I went to his concert October 12 2018 in hammestein ballroom. If this is the same how come I didn’t know about this concert months before the one I attended rivers in your mouth is my favorite song
Eloha omgg I guess I didn’t see that haha thanks!!!! Bens NYC concert in October was mixed most of the crowd were disappointed he didn’t play his old stuff and that’s been the story of his Noonday dream tour. I lost my shit when he played small things tho and the defeat is my new favorite.
I loved the Noonday tour (saw him in 4 different locations) especially the Brixton Academy gigs in January - it felt like the band was more confident and the sound was really good. Of course it was at the end of the tour and they had a lot of experience by then! Noonday songs live are so dreamy and atmospheric and long I get lost in them, I prefer them live. I love how Ben never plays any song exactly the same way, always fresh and alive. Funny tho I didn't really like them when they were first released - Ben stretching me musically! I feel sorry for all those who are missing out at the gigs because they want Ben to be a certain way! He's his own man 😊

I'm surprised by how many people don't like his new versions of some older songs I love the original but I find this version really beautiful also, to think that it's a song that we've known for years already yet it feels so new with a different set of emotions at play, it's fantastic
