I really liked the idea for the combination mechanism using notes for the code. It’s brilliant. Such a shame that laser cut plywood wasn’t precise enough for the mechanism.

Hmmmm…. Because wood expands and contracts then some parts are impossible.
For example the small lever releasing the ball bearing only works when the wood shrinks after driving all the moisture out with micro wave.
Metal puzzles are always without exception better due to repeatable accuracy

The more I look at this puzzle, the more I love it. The combination lock puzzle is a homage to Newton; the visible spectrum, the apple and Newton’s cradle. I think the maze may refer to Heisenberg and/or the double slit experiment. It certainly seems to have a “history of physics” theme.
