This is what it looks like when you DON'T crash at the carpark climb.

- After my shoulder-destroying crash last year ( • Oakley Carpark Climb -... ), I elected to sit this one out, and put my cameras on Alex's bike instead.
He was leading from the first corner, but ol'mate put him into the barriers across the finish line. White Knicks eventually won the day, but given how many of his later races were walkovers, Alex was genuinely in the running for the win. This race was the closest match of the whole night, from where we were standing 2 corners from the finish.
Dang, dude behind you is twitchier than your front camera.
No idea why my front camera didn't stabilise.
What could possibly go wrong with all those concrete columns????
Came for this comment. Not disappointed
When I crashed, it wasn't into a column! (I did enough damage landing flat on the ground)
Yes, at least they can protect those pillars, one day someone will crash on those and die. I'm an avid cyclist myself and this is the first thing i notice.
Didn't know Jasper Philipsen was racing TDU.
The concrete in those garages can be quite slippery. That’s why he’s so erratic. You can see his rear wheel sliding out several times as he catches it.
It's surprisingly grippy. Grippier than I expected, anyway.
that white dude way to nervous steering! Cannot even look at it...
In the winter we would ride all the multi story car parks at night after work. But the most fun was racing skateboard’s down them . Did that too.
carpark is the worst place to race imaginable
I used to race up and down in the car garages in college all the time, sometimes against the guys in the car club ;)
Didn't know there is racing at carpark before
Wh n the streets were too icy, I ride my bicycle in a five story hospital parking garage; it’s mostly empty in the evening, well lit. Helicopters land on the top level once in a while
How Long are you riding there?
Usually an hour or so. The concrete is very smooth, as noted in the video, so you are flying coming down.
@@92376 hmm never thought about riding in parking garage. Maybe I’d give it a try. Usually riding in the streets, but kinda stressful when there are cars around.
Hospital parking garages clear out after 5; the one I used had one way up and one way down so I never had to worry about cars coming at me. Hospital security were polite and didn’t have a problem with me.
Maybe a stupid question, but it looks like you arn't pedaling most of the time because you are on the grip limit. Perhaps a rigid MTB with wider tires and lower pressures could help, despite a much higher rolling resistance.
'prolly biggest reason to not pedal is is because of pedal strikes. like crit racing, you want very short cranks here so you can stay on the gas more.
This one's interesting, because if you're doing it right, you're either sprinting, braking, or cornering. Grip is more important than rolling resistance. I wouldn't go MTB tires, but perhaps a rigid flat-bar with decently wide, soft tires...
What happened at the end there? Did the whitey run into the cammer or did the cammer have a moment?
Whitey put Alex into the barricades. Alex didn't close him out of the corner, and he capitalised on that.
Sheesh. I don't care how expensive my tires are, I would never take a turn that sharp and lean that low.
He was definitely riding the limit. He put himself down a few times across the night, including once in practice.
Would be more fun on fixies.
Some were!
🔥😵💫🚀
A new level of stupidity. Racing on slick concrete.
Actually wasn't too slick in the end
Yeah, it's just as grippy as good bitumen.
I lost a friend and also my brother to cycle training & racing head injuries respectively. Not even a straw bail out here I see! Who are the criminals organising these events? Btw to the idiots riding these events, my friend died at the roadside same day 24 years old, his parents not able to get to him, my brother took 12 years to die from eventual heart failure brought about by becoming an endocrine patient (look that up!) post accident suffering complete panhypopitruitism (un able to make any hormones) this from the brain injuries complete pituitary gland death, going from a race weight of 64kg to a weight at death of 110kg! 53 years old! He also lost his memory and spent all of the following 12 years in a locked in secure unit - otherwise know as a brain injury recovery unit!. I am not against properly regulated racing UCI etc, I raced myself for many years - I just hope to make you young (Invincible) testosterone fueled immortals aware of what can really happen when you let a race organiser play fast and loose with your health for their profit! - btw with the air ambulance and then ICU the cost of retrieval and care was near 100k after the first week!
Mais je reve!!?? Quiose organiser des courses cyclistes sous des parkings couverts?? Lamentable !!
