I am not lucky enough to educate in a University but i would like to thank your for your great speach Sir. Proud to have people like you in this society..
What an inspiring speech in a time of uncertainty, an adult who can acknowledge the mistakes of.his generation . I hv ancestors who came fr Sri Lanka and my forefathers believed that education will set us free but will teach us responsibility towards ourselves and the community
What a superb, courageous speech. Well done sir. I haven't yet had the privilege of a university education or degree. But I am so proud of you & your very forthright , honest , bold speech sir. My hearty congratulations go out to you & to every single student who was as blessed as to come under your wing. God bless you with more & more of the wealth of mentorship which you have served to your university & to each of your undergrads. Congratulations again and may you stay blessed with a long & healthy life and may you continue to impart from your storehouse of knowledge to all our people in Sri Lanka & to the world! 🙏 🙌 ✝️
Sir i profoundly admire the contents of the speech which made me emotional thinking of the young graduates looking for their rice bowls which have been rudely snatched by unscrupulous thieves who r at large n enjoying a feast with their clan.A spring cleaning of the thieves should be carried out soon.
Factually inaccut.he said no Sri Lankan president was a graduate.JR was a graduate from university college London the precursor to university nof Colombo then. Ranil.ia a grad of uni of Colombo..so he has not done a good research.
Brilliant speech with a classic opening line. You are an inspiration to our country. I'm proud to be a graduate from this university and the same faculty. And yes, we batch mates are still friends. Thank you for your speech with common sense.
Superb sir..Highly appreciate your humble tone of speech most of all. The content is suiting the present situation in the country. So proud that we still have courageous academics, scholars like that of you to address all the youngsters 'common sense' as you mentioned. Well-done sir. Once again I too am so proud of being a pass out graduate of uni..of Sri J..pura.. ❤️❤️❤️
Sir, Thank you very much for your valuable fearless thoughts. If the educated become the follower of the wrong doers, we will sink further more. I hope educated president must free himself from biases and be the Honest servant to the motherland without expecting personal financial gains.
Great speech!!! Current situation of our country was explained within minutes of time. But the question which hurts me is why these types of professionals were remain silent when the previous government made inappropriate disicions regarding the agriculture & the paper money? They should have raised their voices against those foolish disicions.
I have seen many of your previous videos too. I really admire your calmness and the intellectual tone in your style of delivery of hard-hitting facts. Previous to this I loved the superb way you castigated the "all-knowing" GMOA President.
Dear Sir You are precisely correct in your observations, but we cannot expect another bankruptcy having such academics and professionals and it's high time you all take over the full control of the key positions as true Patriots
President of the country need not be a graduate. AL would do. Graduate politicians are also useless. Selfish buggers. They don't care for the people and country. President should be. 1. Honest. 2. Love the country 3. Love the people 4. Genuine desire to improve the standard of living . ( Eg. Improve public transport). Present political boys , both graduated and only grade 8, don't presses any on the above. To me they are just rotten fish.
What an absolutely brilliant convocation address Rohan - I wish this could be translated and sent out to the whole of this country to understand in layman's terms what we need to look out for - in other words, what would mother have done?
Why Savthri. Cant you remember what that idiot Cabraal said when he released all our gold stock. He said any mother would pawn her jewelry in a crisis. I refrain from making references to "his" mother as she couldnt have been able to do much for a runt in the family.
Great speech Sir. The lack of common sense is danger where it drive prosperous country into bankrupt country. The intellectual of this country should brave enough to correct the wrong political ideology of this country. When intellectuals are silence on unscientific myth, then it became as scientific on layman's view.
A very good speech . But sir. You did not talk about the solutions 😄 All we know he will have very tough future . So sir pls aware us about the solutions
Presented with summarized crystal clear issue for SL man made economic crisis. Our generation struggle three decade with civil crisis and when its finish this young generation may need to fight with another one at least another decade introduced by foolish people in power.
If Sri Lanka produces talented graduates from government universities WHY those university rankings are very low with world rankings (1500, 1600) Lack of medicine. NO pharmaceutical industry to produce medicine. Lack of engineering talents At this crucial time we need electric trains and buses. According to COPE Why theses high ranking government servants graduated from the government universities rob national wealth of the country. WHERE Are the professional ETHNICS. In our schools we learn discipline. When they go to government universities WHY the students loose them. The developed nations produce most from innovations. They export them and deliver foreign exchange to their countries . In Sri Lanka lack of innovations and country became sad situation. WHAT is happening to our TAX money. Sri Lankan CITIZENS to know WHERE WE GO WRONG AND ASK FOR A PROPER SOLUTION
"You have got something that no person who has been elected to the office of president of Sri Lanka has ever managed to get. You have got a University degree....." As per Wikipedia," President Wickremesinghe entered the Faculty of Law of the University of Ceylon at its Colombo Campus which is now the University of Colombo. After graduation, he completed the law exams at the Ceylon Law College and took oaths as an advocate in 1972"
0:24 Isn't Ranil Wickremasinghe a graduate of Law from the University of Colombo, which was formed called the University of Ceylon? Or was the "elected to the office of presidency in Sri Lanka" a jibe at the fact that he wasn't elected via a democratic election? Regardless, I enjoyed you speech. Luckily, most of the youngsters today have a back bone.
Excellent sir. Unfortunately behind every tough decision the last government took there were intellectuals who supported and defended such wrong decisions. Our people prioritize myths and ancient ideologies over science. I think this is because of our exam oriented education system. That is what should be changed before anything.
Our best university has the world ranking close to 2000. We are way behind our neighboring countries. All we got during our time at the university was similar political rant. You have to go to a good university abroad for further studies to realize that. It is hard to believe Sri Lanka kept this vision going for many decades and at the same time expect to become a developed country.
Ranil Wick is not the first graduate to take the high office in politics of SL. It was S W R D Bandaranayake, who had better qualification, passed his Senior Cambridge examinations with distinctions in English, Latin, Greek and French, and gained the second Order of Merit in the British Empire that year. Delayed by the Great War, he entered Christ Church, Oxford (one of the colleges of Oxford University) , where he read philosophy, politics and economics, and graduated with honours in 1923. At Oxford, he was President of the Majlis Society; his contemporaries at Oxford included Anthony Eden. A keen debater and orator, took an active role in the Oxford Union, where he was elected junior treasurer. In 1924, he became a barrister and was called to the bar at the Inner Temple; on his return to Ceylon, he took oaths as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Ceylon. Then Dudley Senanayake who had University education, went on to Corpus Christi College, Cambridge to read for Natural Science Tripos and after graduation gained admission to the Middle Temple as a barrister J R Jayewardena was also a qualified Advocate of the Supreme Court of Ceylon/Sri Lanka, and was also a President of SL. To me, the only qualification Ranil Wick has is "Backboneless clown, lost all the elections as the head of UNP, received only 237 votes at the last election, which included his & wife's two votes.
"The common sense" The respectable VC.....or any high command, I think, he Mensing or his meanings here is... Most and Mostly of our country Voter's in every rank..... Don't have enough common sense....in using their votes... an select the members.
Sometimes people who go to universities have difficulty understanding what happened to Sri Lanka, but that's not because they can't understand it. it's just pure ego about their political idea.
You get your facts right ,what was shame 🤣 oresident JR jayaeadena was a graduate from university college then university of Colombo and Ramil Wickremasinghe is a graduate from university of Colombo .
It was a good speech.. but going back to organic farming was a good decision but the implementation had no science behind it. That was the issue. Modern farming has made our farmers rely on GMO seeds.
I wish all our genuine academics had half the backbone you have sir! Thanks for leading the way for free thinking new generation! 👌🙏👏👏👏
I am not lucky enough to educate in a University but i would like to thank your for your great speach Sir. Proud to have people like you in this society..

Excellent speech. Hope people will change with time. Needs to protect democracy in our country. God bless you.
What a great flow.
People used to make jokes of people who feel proud of their achievements. You answered them very nicely.
Thank you!

Sir, Thank you very much for your valuable fearless thoughts. If the educated become the follower of the wrong doers, we will sink further more. I hope educated president must free himself from biases and be the Honest servant to the motherland without expecting personal financial gains.
Sir, Many thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge and experiences to build up our nation 👍
Such a wonderful and pragmatic speech.

If they did raise their voice probably they would have ended up in Kanatte 😳
Superb speech! Extremely timely. Kudos to you!
Excellent speech well delivered, Sir.
I have seen many of your previous videos too. I really admire your calmness and the intellectual tone in your style of delivery of hard-hitting facts. Previous to this I loved the superb way you castigated the "all-knowing" GMOA President.
Thank you for your inspirational speech for young graduates. We must have more and more teachers like you.

Such A great short and strait Speech to the Point ...🙏🙏🙏
Sir, How can we expect " Common scene " from a bunch of thieves.
Common sense is not receiving from politicians. Its from mother..🙂
What's more important is for voters to improve their common sense when electing leaders.
Exactly
Proud to have you in Sri Lanka, most of them have left the country
what a great speech and so bold and the bitter truth
Great speech Sir.
"Lack of common sense "

Not only politicians also government servants like papets
The opening statement is classic. No Sri Lankan president has had a university degree.
Doesn't Ranil have one. He graduated from University of Ceylon
D B විජේතුංග
Ranil Wickramasi.....
@@VishmiWijeratne - if he did, it really doesn’t add up for much !!
It simply adds insult to injury considering his apathetic performance.
@@VishmiWijeratne He wasn't elected. But, JRJ was a graduate.
