One Year On: Angelina Jolie-Pitt Revisits Syrian Refugee Family

- Last month, the UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie-Pitt made a return visit to Lebanon to see Hala, a feisty 11-year-old girl she met a year ago and one of 4 million Syrian refugees. Jolie-Pitt introduced her daughter Shiloh to the Syrian family.
Hala had escaped Syria in 2013 with her five brothers and sisters. Like many Syrians, their world fell apart with the arrival of the war. Their mother was killed - their father is still missing. They arrived in Lebanon with nothing. Two years on, survival continues to be a challenge. Finding enough food and paying the rent is a constant struggle.

Wow the trauma is so severe that a normal grown man could be reduced to a child-like state. That's horrible.

@@mgmail7279 one is already worn out physically and psychologically by the conflict around him, and has probably seen or heard of friends being killed. On top of that, he sees his mother get killed. Yeah, there is so much even a strong human being can take. :( Shame on all those who contributed to the war - no matter on which side they are. Shame on them all!
If I saw my mother getting killed, I would probably lose it too.

I'm not sure how old you are but volunteering in your community on the weekends when your free is a small bit a great beginning to help others in need too. I am happy you want help others like such refugees. I have a dream for my future too and I want to be sure it happens. I will take short steps first to get to those wider steps. I've been following Angelina' story in Siria since her first trip. And see her came back there, and see the way the little girl, remembered and welcomed her with that hug, broke me in million of pieces. We need to help these people as much as we can, in every way we can,they're living the worst life ever, and what about Angelina? She's an angel❤️

Hala was a very quirky & cheerful kid in the first documentary (showing that she still had hopes and desires within her).
But as she grew older she turned more quieter & observant ..as if she had nothing else to say :(

Yes I think it’s trauma, usually when people experience something traumatic they don’t really show it, they act as they did before. With time the reality of what happened sets in, and it changes a person

What do you except, we all need to do something. Angelina is doing so much, she can’t help them all. Bless her, surely she has helped them but we can’t see that. Thanks to Angelina we can see how it really is, and even if she helped just that family how do you expect her to do that? By giving them a home in a strucked down country or giving them money that will probably be robbed and so on.
