When Bumble was last commentating in NZ, he was asked if he had tried the local delicacy that is the Bluff oyster, renowned as a strong aphrodisiac. His response - “Aye I did, and I tell you what, they’re right. It certainly put the lead in my pencil”. After allowing the rest of the commentary to finish laughing, he then closed with, “trouble is lads, I’ve had no one to write to…..” Every man in NZ who was watching the test at home simultaneously spat their beer and coughed out their crisps and erupted in laughter. The other commentary team members couldn’t call the remainder of the over because every time they got composed, someone would snigger and it would kick off again. Hilarious man.
Have you seen/heard the Boycott story (that is on UA-cam) that Bumble wouldve never played for England had ol' Geoffrey been playing - i dont want to spoil it if you haven't seen it. Also remember he was the England coach in mid to late 90's, that 'golden era' of English cricket (constant losses and draws). Hope you're good and staying safe.
@@MrMiD.Life.Crisis David Lloyd Is a spellbinding fantastic all-around cricket enthusiast and a good man. He played for his country, was an umpire and a coach, and a professional commentator. This was well done; albeit, thought, he was not tip-of-the-tongue great, nor a household name when he was playing at his peak.
Bumble may have only played 9 test for England but was great enough to score a double century in India. An all time great behind the mic to top it off. Love U Bumble.
Love listening to Bumble. His recount of the time that he was struck in the Jatz Crackers by a Thommo thunderbolt is one of the funniest things you’ll ever hear. Made all the funnier by his outrageously thick Yorkshire accent. He has been able to build an entire career post cricket based on that one moment of agony. The man is a national treasure. Beloved by everyone who loves the game of cricket.
Bumble has a holiday retreat near to me and goes to the local pub in the village. Apparently, he's hysterically funny. People go there to meet him and listen to his stories.
My favorite commentator in world cricket. Understands his audience doesn't mind a lack of political correctness every now and then. Great accent to boot.
Thanks for the memories - this old fart first saw 'Bumble' at the Regency Restaurant in Ecclesfield, Sheffield, pushing 40 years ago. Brilliantly funny then - and since. We can't afford to lose guys like this!"!!!
My fave bumble moment of all time when the india were needing some overs from someone in a test match vs England and the indian commentator said. " You know Kholi bowls a few partime mediums trys to get it wobbling" Bumble "auh they sound ABSOLUTELY filthy" I can laugh everytime i think about it.
This man is a national treasure..
international

Bumble love from Nepal one of the best commentators of the game.

He actually made his name when he got smashed in the nuts at 95kms/hr by Jeff Thomson at the WACA.
