Too stuff 👍 Cracking price on that rucksack. Great advice for anyone wanting to get outdoors but without the extortionate cost. My motto "buy last years kit, or the discontinued lines". Just because it's been superseded, doesn't mean it's no good.
Absolutely correct! Used gear is a great way to get some awesome but old gear that consumerists have stopped using because they bought the latests piece of kit. Just gotta be careful with the sloppy joes who tear and crack all their stuff (at least i don’t try to rip people off)
"... So because I'm a scientist..." *Shows measurements* That right there earned you a new subscriber. I really enjoyed this no nonsense presentation. Had two Tamar 2s over the last five years and their superb value for money, standing up to high winds and driving rain. First one was mauled by a fox... whilst I was asleep inside! 😱 Top tip: Transport poles/pegs separately outsude rucksack and use compression bag on tent for more space inside 😉
I have the tent too and fully agree, top tip. The tent is rather bulky unless compressed and the poles could do with having the sections shortened (although I'm aware that just introduces more potential splinter points) to make them more easily packed in smaller backpacks.
I love these budget gear type videos! They’re so useful for people who are just dipping their toe in, and still very interesting for a lot of people who are more seasoned. #tamar2me
I was bought this tent as a replacement by someone that borrowed and lost my old trespass 2 man. An adequate replacement I’d say. It’s good for a budget tent but a little big and heavy for my camps as I like to hike far. The pitch of the outer fly door is a real problem in rain and even if it’s a dew heavy morning as any droplets can just fall into the inner as soon as you unzip it. My solution is to rig my OEX expedition tarp up over the front to to create an extra porch.
In my opinion the Tamar 2 is the best budget tent on the market, it's been around for 30 years so it can't be all bad. I've used mine in winds up to 50mph, but that's it's very upper limit and in heavy rain with little issue. I've camped beside the Tamar River and at over 2000ft. 5 years and still going strong. The pegs are terrible, the bag bulky and it is heavy, but the pegs can be changed the bag swapped for a compression drybag and the poles kept separate.
Congrats on 6k 🤜🏻🤛🏻 Should be more budget campers like yourself...not everyone can afford £600+ tents and £200+ sleeping bags. Keep doing you bud...Good stuff 👍🏻🍻 #TAMAR2ME

Good vid all you need for starting people shouldn't get 2 worried about the hydrostatic head I've got tents at 1200hh and there fine (an umbrella is about 450hh and they don't leak ) but yes fiberglass poles are the concern.as I've said before budget gear is good for summer or when it's not that windy so cheap gear does work for those conditions.
I've got the same tent and alongside a sleepmat I can fit my few years old oex go outdoors chair and a small low table. I sit in the chair reading a book on campsites when it's been cold outside. I can see through the window at the rear too. I'm only 5'4" which probably helps but the tent works well. I camp just me and the dog and we haven't wild camped yet. I need a smaller packed sleepmat so will look at the one you used especially as you slept so well thanks for that🙂
I think this is what my first tent was. I never went hiking with it, just stayed at campsites, and I loved it. I was really glad that the outer tent went up first (very helpful when it's raining) and that it never had a condensation problem. It was always big enough for me and the vestibule was handy. Unfortunately I had an issue with zip snagging and it tore a small hole in the inner tent. One night a hungry badger ripped that hole wide open and came in and stole my tortilla chips. Tear was far too big to repair. I got a cheap single skin tent from Argos to replace it and it only weighs around 1.7kg and that's now going to be my hiking tent. I still hold a grudge against that badger. #Tamar2me

I pick up a eurohike Tamar 2 from blacks for £22.50 just after Christmas. Millets was selling it for £25 but only had it in red. On the off chance I went to Blacks and they had it for £60 and in green. Blacks do price match plus 10% 😁 This is the second Tamar tent I have had. The first one I had for 6 years, used mainly for motorbike camping and some wild camping. This tent can take abit of a beating from rain and wind if the guy lines are used, in heavy rain it does leak alittle at the seams, I just used seam sealant and fabsil.
Great vid as always. How funny you got the best night sleep using cheap kit! I’ve had issues with Eurohike in the past for a first tent it might well do the job by the looks of it. 👍
Hey! Really enjoy the diversity of products, goes to show you don’t always need top end gear all of the time to enjoy the outdoors. Budget friendly and equipment that does the job well for two seasons. #TAMAR2ME
Awesome wee setup bud 👌, perfect for beginners, also I like the fact more and more folk are showing ups and downs, their own good and bad bits, but still getting out there, not just the "perfect kit and getting it "right" " , It's about the experience, not the flash gear, I'm still trying to get out more, with family and work it's a rarity, but Mrs having twins within the week so will have us all on family outings soon (ish) 🤞 we have two older kids already 🤣
So much of the unknown named gear out there is brilliant, the issue is that people care so much what others think and are sucked in by branded crap. all the best
Informative vid! I bought a Tamar 2 early last year when I started getting into wildcamping. Has stood up to Welsh rain, but one of the door's zips has broken, so could do with a replacement! #tamar2me.
Those rucksacks have gone up in price. I bought 2 from Go Outdoors last summer for my 12 & 14 year old to hike & camp the West Highland Way & only paid £15 each from £25. The bags worked a treat for the price x

This is the second Tamar tent I have had. The first one I had for 6 years, used mainly for motorbike camping and some wild camping.
This tent can take abit of a beating from rain and wind if the guy lines are used, in heavy rain it does leak alittle at the seams, I just used seam sealant and fabsil.
Nice 1 Ben congrats on the subs 👌👍👍👍
Cheers Craig 👍
#tamar2me I enjoy the calm down to earth reviews. Keep up the good work.
Nice one Ben good vid mate. Glad to see your subs going up. Tha rate youth its a COB
Cheers Tony 🙌
Great selection of budget gear 🙂
Congratulations on 6k, great video as ever - love the laid back style! #TAMAR2ME ps - it's a breadcake....
Great vid as always. How funny you got the best night sleep using cheap kit! I’ve had issues with Eurohike in the past for a first tent it might well do the job by the looks of it. 👍
I think the warmer weather contributed too 😆
Congrats on your subscriber level!! 🥰👏🏻👏🏻 Great video as always. And brill of you to pass tent on. Good luck to all who enter 🥰
Thanks 😊
Hey! Really enjoy the diversity of products, goes to show you don’t always need top end gear all of the time to enjoy the outdoors. Budget friendly and equipment that does the job well for two seasons. #TAMAR2ME
That’s very good for the budget!
If you can go a little higher get the candy p3 from unigear, it will serve you far better.
Awesome wee setup bud 👌, perfect for beginners, also I like the fact more and more folk are showing ups and downs, their own good and bad bits, but still getting out there, not just the "perfect kit and getting it "right" " ,
It's about the experience, not the flash gear,
I'm still trying to get out more, with family and work it's a rarity, but Mrs having twins within the week so will have us all on family outings soon (ish) 🤞 we have two older kids already 🤣
Sounds like you need to escape on your own mate 😆👍
Definitely mate, hopefully get out before end of the year 👌
So much of the unknown named gear out there is brilliant, the issue is that people care so much what others think and are sucked in by branded crap. all the best
Great comment
Informative vid! I bought a Tamar 2 early last year when I started getting into wildcamping. Has stood up to Welsh rain, but one of the door's zips has broken, so could do with a replacement! #tamar2me.
I also had a problem with the zip. I got a replacement zip and after some adjusting it worked. I got the Munkees instant universal zipper repair kit.
@@beeking7971 Cheers. I'll have a look into that! Did you get the Medium size, which it says is suitable for tent zips?
@@beeking7971 I got the Medium sized Munkees zipper repair kit, and it's worked great on this tent. Zip is stronger than the original!
Great little tent to start wild camping.

Those rucksacks have gone up in price. I bought 2 from Go Outdoors last summer for my 12 & 14 year old to hike & camp the West Highland Way & only paid £15 each from £25. The bags worked a treat for the price x
I think I paid £13.50 for the last one. I think they’re still good value at £25 though 👍
