I have studied sumerian language at the university, I am not a sumerologist by any means, but I can assure you, its not a semitic language. Its a language isolate. It has completely non-semitic features. Its a split-ergative language with agglutination (similar to turkish). It's syntax is SOV, which is not semitic either. The vocabulary is not semitic either, except for loanwords which were borrowed later from Akkadian. Sumerian cuneiform is not semitic, it was adapted to write semitic Akkadian. Akkadian is semitic, it is very similar to hebrew and aramaic, although it is read left to right (because of the non-semitic Sumerian cuneiform). It also adopted sumerian syntax of SOV. However in other respects like phonology and verbal morphology, Akkadian is semitic. Akkadian vocabulary is very similar to Hebrew and Aramaic. As to ashkenazi jews, what you say may be true for some of them, but many ashkenazi jews are of middle eastern descent and that is their primary genetic makeup, both paternally and maternally. Only maternally, the core admixture is italian and other mediterranean influence. Ashkenazim are definitely semitic, they just lived in italian, germanic, slavic and russian lands, so they adopted non-semitic lifestyles. Ashkenazim that have retained most or all of their semitic ancestry clearly resemble sefaradim and mizra7im (syria,3iraq,iran), and sometimes yes, even teimanim (yemenite jews). Ashkenazi hebrew is closest to yemenite hebrew in vowels. Genetically ashkenazi and sefaradi jews are indistinguishable in many cases. It is not well known, but it is an established fact that both of these 'european' jewish groups are primarily of levantine, mesopotamian and mediterranean descent with minimal eastern european admixture. I can refer you to studies if you wish. I can also provide pictures which show the racial similarities between ashkenazim and sefaradim, as well as with mizra7im from Syria, 3Iraq, and Iran. If you wish to speak with me more about Sumerian, we can do that as well. But trust me, it is not a semitic language in any way, shape, or form.
Ashkenazi is more of a religious denomination and culture rather than a genetic or racial term. However many ashkenazi jews do have common genetics. We know that Rashi was ashkenazi and he was middle eastern just like Maimonides who was sefaradi. Ashkenazi Jews according to most genetic studies originated in the middle east and some lineages within this group later intermarried with mediterraneans, particularly italians. Several studies contradict one another, but at least one thing is for certain, the ashkenazi jews on average are at least 50% middle eastern. I would wager that many palestinians have the same level of european/middle eastern admixture. One thing that most news headlines lately have been leaving out is that all studies show that sefaradim are genetically identical to ashkenazim. So whatever level of european (italian) admixture some ashkenazi jews have, sefaradi jews have the same amount. It is the mizra7i jews from Iraq/Iran that are most certainly 100% middle eastern, which is obvious, because they never went to europe. Yemenite Jews tend to cluster with arabians more than with mizra7i jews. Arabians are middle eastern but have more african admixture especially in yemen and oman. This would explain the differences with mizra7im from mesopotamia. Iraqi and Iranian jews are actually the archetype for the original hebrew appearance, some european jews have this look as well, as do some yemenite jews. Interesting study excerpt from a 2014 study on genetics: "Another interesting case are the Ashkenazi Jews, who display a frequency of haplogroup K similar to the PPNB sample together with low non-significant pairwise Fst values, which taken together suggests an ancient Near Eastern origin. This observation clearly contradicts the results of a recent study, where a detailed phylogeographical analysis of mtDNA lineages has suggested a predominantly European origin for the Ashkenazi communities." Here is a very recent autosomal study in 2014. You can see that even the red headed ashkenazi jews in the picture look exactly like many israeli samaritans, and palestinian arabs. forward.com/articles/205371/ashkenazi-jews-descend-from--people-scientists/
From wikipedia, several studies (many more available on wiki) A 2006 study by Seldin et al. used over five thousand autosomal SNPs to demonstrate European genetic substructure. The results showed "a consistent and reproducible distinction between 'northern' and 'southern' European population groups". Most northern, central, and eastern Europeans (Finns, Swedes, English, Irish, Germans, and Ukrainians) showed >90% in the 'northern' population group, while most individual participants with southern European ancestry (Italians, Greeks, Portuguese, Spaniards) showed >85% in the 'southern' group. Both Ashkenazi Jews as well as Sephardic Jews showed >85% membership in the "southern" group. Referring to the Jews clustering with southern Europeans, the authors state the results were "consistent with a later Mediterranean origin of these ethnic groups".[124] A 2007 study by Bauchet et al. found that Ashkenazi Jews were most closely clustered with Arabic North African populations when compared to Global population, and in the European structure analysis, they share similarities only with Greeks and Southern Italians, reflecting their east Mediterranean origins.[125][126] A 2010 study on Jewish ancestry by Atzmon-Ostrer et al. stated "Two major groups were identified by principal component, phylogenetic, and identity by descent (IBD) analysis: Middle Eastern Jews and European/Syrian Jews. The IBD segment sharing and the proximity of European Jews to each other and to southern European populations suggested similar origins for European Jewry and refuted large-scale genetic contributions of Central and Eastern European and Slavic populations to the formation of Ashkenazi Jewry.", as both groups - the Middle Eastern Jews and European/Syrian Jews - shared common ancestors in the Middle East about 2500 years ago. The study examines genetic markers spread across the entire genome and shows that the Jewish groups (Ashkenazi and non Ashkenazi) share large swaths of DNA, indicating close relationships and that each of the Jewish groups in the study (Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian, Italian, Turkish, Greek and Ashkenazi) has its own genetic signature but is more closely related to the other Jewish groups than to their fellow non-Jewish countrymen.[127] Atzmon's team found that the SNP markers in genetic segments of 3 million DNA letters or longer were 10 times more likely to be identical among Jews than non-Jews. Results of the analysis also tally with biblical accounts of the fate of the Jews. The study also found that with respect to non-Jewish European groups, the population most closely related to Ashkenazi Jews are modern-day Italians. The study speculated that the genetic-similarity between Ashkenazi Jews and Italians may be due to inter-marriage and conversions in the time of the Roman Empire. It was also found that any two Ashkenazi Jewish participants in the study shared about as much DNA as fourth or fifth cousins.[128][129]
A 2013 trans-genome study carried out by 30 geneticists, from 13 universities and academy's, from 9 countries, assembling the largest data set available to date, for assessment of Ashkenazi Jewish genetic origins found no evidence of Khazar origin among Ashkenazi Jews. "Thus, analysis of Ashkenazi Jews together with a large sample from the region of the Khazar Khaganate corroborates the earlier results that Ashkenazi Jews derive their ancestry primarily from populations of the Middle East and Europe, that they possess considerable shared ancestry with other Jewish populations, and that there is no indication of a significant genetic contribution either from within or from north of the Caucasus region." the authors concluded.[136]
I wish I could understand what they are saying. Why isn't the video with a translation title? My grand mother was a Yemenite. She suffered so much. I never met her but was told that she died when she was 43 years of age and left 3 orphans, my mom was one of them. I feel so much for these people, my Jewish inheritance. May Hashem, blessed is He, bless them all and bring us back together when Mashiach come. That is my prayer. Thank you for this video but I wish I could understand of that the video had titles in English or Spanish.
Many thanks for the interesting video. It's great to learn about Yemeni Jews. In general, the Semitic cultures are very dignified and graceful cultures. I respect them much.
@@ShaharIshog-lx7pi Which means that their Hebrew is more closed to the ancient Hebrew ? Some people say it has this Arabic influence like the letter Gimmèl pronounced Jimmèl , the VaV as Waw,... What is your point of view?
@@nashashbel6922 closer than others yes, but Yemenite comes THE CLOSEST. Mizrahi Jews are Jews who went to the rest of the Middle East during The Jewish Exile. However We yemenites came to Yemen long before the exile in fact there is proof of my ancestors coming to Yemen during king Solomon’s times. Of course for centuries no Jew has lived in Yemen But we Yemenites ARE from biblical times. Our accent, our traditions is as close as it gets
@@nashashbel6922 As for the “waw” that is without a doubt original. Not just yemenites but even Babylonian Jews pronounced it that way. And what abt old Jewish writers saying “there is no letter in Hebrew that sounds the same” then why would Vav sound like Veyt? Further more in many languages there is a letter that functions as “o, u, w” all at once, sometimes it’s an “o” other times “u” and other times “w” it’s in MANY languages, but it’s soo awkward that it goes from o to u to “V”
@@nashashbel6922 as for the Jimmel, it’s clear that even during Biblical Times there was dialects, such as Galilean Jews that pronounce Ayin and Aleph the same Many jews at that time pronounced Gimmel as Jimmel and Qof as Gof, it’s not Arabic influenced cuz Arabic has the Qof sound which is what standard Biblical Hebrew used. But our dialect even during times of Israel said “Gof” so we never changed
Beautiful, goes into the heart and remind my of dear parents. Keep this beautiful and the authenticity of this culture for next generation. I loved it.

Your grandfather is right, and we still live in peace and harmony and the good patriotic righteous of them refuse to go to Israel, coz they'd rather stay in their country with their ppl than to invade someone elses and drive them outta their homes. All respect to our Jews and Zionism shall come to an end.
if this is hebrew language, i have to say it is the most beautiful and fluent language in the world, i use to love arabic for their melodious music but due to their intolerant religion i am awkward about anything arab
+izuchukwu nonso igodo you are the most ignorant person ever!! First of all, Arabic is a language. Second of all Islam is a religion that hold over 1.8 billion people from all around the world. You sound so dumb and uneducated. Don't judge the religion we practice, judge us based on our actions and behavior. Please go educate yourself. Btw, for the record, these Jewish people were originated from Yemen, they lived in peace and shared so many of our traditions.
+izuchukwu nonso igodo intolerant religion ? that is not true. I am Muslim, we love all people. Dont listen to these people who lie. Also Islam is a religion, Arabs only represent 10% of the Muslim population world wide. And also not all Arabs are Muslims. There are Christians, Druze, Mandeans and Jews. Mostly Muslims but we are diverse in religions. And also Muslims are good people in general.
Thanks for that complement from isreal jewish are everwhere and jewish always be jewish it doesnt matter where he is from or where he was because of end of day we jewish don't give shit where are you from as long you jewish we will have connection by idea mentality and of course the religion and traditionals for explaine if I meet Tunisia jewish person I automatically will connect to you so peace please don't curse each other.

Shula Lavy thx for your reply, but would you explain more! does he praise Islam, does he criticize it? and what is the main points of this documentary in general?
dear Mish Shghlak (funny your name says "it's not your bisiness"= mish shoghlak -I understand the langwege) 1..first of all you have to know that yemenies jews never say bad thing about yemen or the people there. .never. on the contrary. 2..it is a program about the litreacher and yemenes jews music.poetry, pray in the sinagog at the most important jew day. 3..he menchend that from time to time there was governer that did not like the jews or force by a one or two arab tribe so it's bring a lot of "trabele" to the jews (like ask all of them to leave to the desert) that is why they lost meny litricher songs books during the history of 3000 (!) years. (but most of the time the people was good) that is why they have only left aroung 1600 poatries.songs.prays. ect.(after the jews left yemen the british serch their homes and synagoges . they found "in the walls" meny papers listes of jews deligation to Jerusalem to serve in BaitAlMakdash 1"= all the papers now in museum in london) 4...the three that speaks are grandpa and grandma father and grand sone. 5.... the other males are some sinagog singers/prayers with their ladies. 6.. the jews was in yemen 3000years. before the islam all the earia yemen Ethiopia with all the countries around, all the population was becom jews during 1632years.until 632 BC. in Judaism forbidden to ask somebody to convrt. anles he ask at least for rabbai (and he is good person the process begin it take 2-10 years) 7..yemenies jews vow never to play a music instrumrnt until they will be back to they keep their promis 3000 years. they always break something in middle of celebration like wedding,(by breaking a glass) to remember gerusalem and Israel. also they keep part of the house unfinished (unfinished collor or somthing)to remember Israel and Jerusalem. the preys and the song the same. (I never care about the English grammer) . I hope I gave you full unswer. ma'a salama.
Wa Alikom Alsalam! Thx for the information my cousin. But you kind of got me wrong! When I asked “What did he say about Muslim” it was just curiosity not that I thought he insults Muslims. I have nothing at all against Jews and I also know that a lot of Jews has nothing against Muslims. I was just curious to know what he was saying as I find it very interesting video and the music is charming. What many Muslims don’t understand is that when the Quran criticize Jews it’s not about individuals it’s about wrong concepts the Jews insist on, so it’s criticism for the doctrine rather than individuals, since any Jew can simply convert to Islam or Christianity or even be an atheist. The Quran says: "It is not for a human that God should give him the Scripture and Judgment and Prophethood and then he would say to the people, "Be servants to me rather than God, but "Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied." (Surat Ali 'Imran, Verse 79) The Quran says: “Whoever submits his face to God while being a doer of good, will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (Surat Al-Baqarah, verse 112) I hope you also understand me my cousin Shalom!

"Another interesting case are the Ashkenazi Jews, who display a frequency of haplogroup K similar to the PPNB sample together with low non-significant pairwise Fst values, which taken together suggests an ancient Near Eastern origin. This observation clearly contradicts the results of a recent study, where a detailed phylogeographical analysis of mtDNA lineages has suggested a predominantly European origin for the Ashkenazi communities."
Here is a very recent autosomal study in 2014. You can see that even the red headed ashkenazi jews in the picture look exactly like many israeli samaritans, and palestinian arabs.
forward.com/articles/205371/ashkenazi-jews-descend-from--people-scientists/
From wikipedia, several studies (many more available on wiki)
A 2006 study by Seldin et al. used over five thousand autosomal SNPs to demonstrate European genetic substructure. Referring to the Jews clustering with southern Europeans, the authors state the results were "consistent with a later Mediterranean origin of these ethnic groups".[124]
A 2007 study by Bauchet et al. found that Ashkenazi Jews were most closely clustered with Arabic North African populations when compared to Global population, and in the European structure analysis, they share similarities only with Greeks and Southern Italians, reflecting their east Mediterranean origins.[125][126]
A 2010 study on Jewish ancestry by Atzmon-Ostrer et al. stated "Two major groups were identified by principal component, phylogenetic, and identity by descent (IBD) analysis: Middle Eastern Jews and European/Syrian Jews.

I wish there was English, this documentary looks really interesting. Sephardic and and Mizrahi culture are really fascinating!
and they speak propre, semitic pronounced Hebrew, too!
This is Teimani culture.
I'm sorry for your loss.

Which means that their Hebrew is more closed to the ancient Hebrew ?
Some people say it has this Arabic influence like the letter Gimmèl pronounced Jimmèl , the VaV as Waw,...
What is your point of view?
@@nashashbel6922 closer than others yes, but Yemenite comes THE CLOSEST. Mizrahi Jews are Jews who went to the rest of the Middle East during The Jewish Exile. However
We yemenites came to Yemen long before the exile in fact there is proof of my ancestors coming to Yemen during king Solomon’s times. Of course for centuries no Jew has lived in Yemen
But we Yemenites ARE from biblical times.
@@nashashbel6922 as for the Jimmel, it’s clear that even during Biblical Times there was dialects, such as Galilean Jews that pronounce Ayin and Aleph the same
Many jews at that time pronounced Gimmel as Jimmel and Qof as Gof, it’s not Arabic influenced cuz Arabic has the Qof sound which is what standard Biblical Hebrew used. But our dialect even during times of Israel said “Gof” so we never changed
Beautiful, goes into the heart and remind my of dear parents. Keep this beautiful and the authenticity of this culture for next generation. I loved it.

you are the most ignorant person ever!!

Many times he mentioned Islam and Muslems. What did he say??!
Mish Shoghlak he tell the history& tradition of 3000 years history of the jews in yemen 2000 years before the islam and during the islam
Shula Lavy
thx for your reply, but would you explain more!
does he praise Islam, does he criticize it? and what is the main points of this documentary in general?
dear Mish Shghlak (funny your name says "it's not your bisiness"= mish shoghlak -I understand the langwege)
1..first of all you have to know that yemenies jews never say bad thing about yemen or the people there. .never. on the contrary.
6.. the jews was in yemen 3000years. before the islam all the earia yemen Ethiopia with all the countries around, all the population was becom jews during 1632years.until 632 BC. in Judaism forbidden to ask somebody to convrt. anles he ask at least for rabbai (and he is good person the process begin it take 2-10 years)
7..yemenies jews vow never to play a music instrumrnt until they will be back to they keep their promis 3000 years. they always break something in middle of celebration like wedding,(by breaking a glass) to remember gerusalem and Israel. also they keep part of the house unfinished (unfinished collor or somthing)to remember Israel and Jerusalem. the preys and the song the same.
(I never care about the English grammer)
The Quran says:
"It is not for a human that God should give him the Scripture and Judgment and Prophethood and then he would say to the people, "Be servants to me rather than God, but "Be pious scholars of the Lord because of what you have taught of the Scripture and because of what you have studied."
(Surat Ali 'Imran, Verse 79)
The Quran says:
“Whoever submits his face to God while being a doer of good, will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.”
(Surat Al-Baqarah, verse 112)
I hope you also understand me my cousin
Shalom!
