Exactly. Think i would've been kind of disappointed if everything went exactly as it should've when you meet Mr. Roadkill himself because you won one of his cars.
The real prize wasn't the car, it was getting to hangout with Finnegan and Joe! Congrats Kevin, you seem like the perfect fit for that car! Enjoy it, and NEVER get rid of it!
I won a trip to sema with Mike and it woulda been cool but it was obvious he was being paid to be there and it was kind of a let down. But sema itself was freaking awesome.
One look at that guy's bench and it was pretty obvious how many u-joints he's changed. Watching a guy like that only two words come to mind skill and grace. That guy was downright graceful smacking those u-joints out and back in.
The rust on a u-joint is always a telltale sign, it lost all lube a while back and is grinding itself to pieces. The squeak is the last thing before it implodes. Good catch Finn!
Mike Finnegan is such a stand up guy. He fixed the Datsun after giving it away, gave a bunch of gift cards and was even going to fly the guy out. I've seen giveaways from others and nowhere did I see anyone fly them out for free and fix if anything went wrong. This is one of the reasons why I love his channel and always look forward to his next adventure.
We never did give away cars, but after we built them for people and they came to pick them up they often had similar feelings and reactions. It brought joy to us seeing their reactions happiness.
First off, he won more than the Datsun. He was an adventure. I love this video. Also Im not sure how the guys at drive line services can work with all the trash on the work surface but they do, do good work.
I've never seen you this filled with joy!! So stoked you're in the position to be able to share cars with others and genuinely be excited for them. Cant wait for the next one!
The gift cards were a nice touch, and a kick ass bonus, like a sore dikk, you cant beat it. It really shows true sincerity and appreciation for the fans. Kick ass Mike. Keep on keeping on, and as always , #StayFrosty homeslice.
Looking at the table at the driveline shop reminded me of my dad's shop. He made a lot of driveshafts. That was over 20 years ago. Thanks for the memory.
Reminds me of the '69 Datsun 510 I bought when I was stationed in Charleston, SC in 1972. Thanks to the Navy shipping it, it went from Charleston SC to Rota Spain, to Long Beach,CA, to Honolulu Hawaii, and finally back to San Diego CA. Somewhere in the middle of that, I had split the exhaust at the tri-Y headers into two pipes, two glas pak mufflers, and twin side pipes just in front of the rear wheels. Rebuilt the engine once (I don't remember why anymore). Kinda tortured that L16 over the years... When you mentioned that squeek, my first thought was a U-joint. I immediately thought of the driveshaft... I don't remember an independent rear suspension on the 510. If you think changing half shaft u_joints is fun, try changing the center u-joint and support bearing on a two piece driveshaft, like my '77 620 pick-up had (but that's a story for another time and place).
Bought that exact car getting out of the Navy. $2050.00. Nice car about the same price as a Vw bug without the air cooled engine noise.. Had a lifter tick, replaced a rocker arm. Alll was well but at about 60 on the freeway, there as some sympathetic vibration that would set the dash board buzzing. Odd. I replaced the original wheels with dish mags and 70 series bias plus. Big mistake, should have done Minilites and radials. Oh well. 55 yeas ago. As I recall the yellow paint on the original was a lighter hue. These things are so simple and honest it strikes me as a Japanese Model A. I miss mine.
No coupon for a tow truck? 😆 Seriously, you are the man Mike! It’s obvious that you care about making this a great experience and a lasting memory for the winner! Respect!
Damn he got the whole Roadkill experience with Mike, not just a car pickup... =D Getting picked up in the Daytona aka DumpsterFire, what an experience... Would be sooo stoked. One thing that would top that would be to ride in or to get to drive General Mayhem.
My best friend in high school back in 1974 bought a Datsun 510. First thing he did was put US Mags and side pipes on it. We used to have a blast tooling around in it. Except for the one time coming home from Cal Jam 1 in Ontario when he accidentally ran 2 bikers off the freeway. They chased us down until we got stuck in traffic and proceeded to pound on the drivers window until he opened it up enough for the guy to reach in and punch him a few times. Luckily that was as far as it went. We were just a couple kids wasted from the day and terrified of them.
I have a 1970 Datsun 510 2DS. It has a dogleg 5speed with an L20B. Runs great. I'm in the process of rebuilding the rear control arms because the bump stops are flopping around in the old control arms due to the aftermarket anti sway bar linkage pulling forward and backward instead of up and down. I won't be putting the anti sway bar in until I resolve that issue.
Had I been in the winners shoes , I wouldn't have wanted that day to go ANY other way.. go out to lunxh with finnigan and joe get a sweet ,free car and even get to turn a wrech with them too ? Cmon ! How much better could it get ??? You rock Finnigan ! I hope to someday meet you and id let you whip My built jcw mini , lol you'd think its slow but I never been in a truly fast car , so it's fast to me lol😊
All good and great vlog. Just think, same thing happened with Cleetus when he gave that brand new truck away and had to replace the entire engine when the winner came and picked it up. Stuff happens, but all for good reason!
I still think I would've been the best winner - but Kevin is a definite solid 2nd place. Seems like a super nice guy that is looking forward to enjoying the vehicle. And if I'd won, I'm much rather go the warehouse and wrench on the car with a beer vs eating lunch. I'm sure he had a blast!
I had 82 210sl. Rear window louvers, tinted head light covers, raised letters and American racing chrome rims 😁😁😁. Loved it but lacked power two years after I owned it 😂😂😂
I sure miss my '72 510. What a fun car. Same color, too. Great times, great memories. Totaled in an accident when a drunk driver cut me off on the freeway.
You could use your phones GPS. As a speedometer 😂👍 if gauge cluster speedo stops working. Congratulations cool contest. Next time maybe pickup winner in the blue charger. Awesome youve found a Daytona superbird. I bet its 20dollars to fill the tank👍
Cute little car. I really feel like the window frame should have been painted black. Once I noticed it, I just couldnt un-see it. I see fox body mustangs like this all the time. It drives me crazy.
Hello Finn. I'm getting Dave's and Mike mixed up. I had an 80' Toyota Corolla (yellow 💛 and I Still miss it and my 1ST car 1971 Mercury/Ford Capri. Seems like you would've gave him a card for a parts store. But.. You're sponsored by one. Make sure when he swipes the food cards he doesn't get a brown-streak! 😂 Pre-paid food stamps. Hahahaha 🤣
Ive owned 3 of those cars. 2 69's, and a 72. All 3 were 2 doors. Im bummed to see Finnegan passing it on. I was hoping to see it stick around. Good luck to the new owner though.
The car is pre-disastered! It will be fine. You would know this line if you've watched the movie The World According to Garp. Great movie with a young Robin Williams with Glenn Close.
Halfshaft u-joints will squeak like that as the bearing cups wear out! My first car was a 510 and I got good at changing those u-joints in my driveway…
Doood!!!! My highschool machine shop teacher would have had a cow if he saw that huge mushroom on top of that drift/punch! Talk about a hand grenade waiting to go off. 😆
Imagine this situation in different context. Getting picked up by a stranger in Dumpster Fire, being driven all the way to the very back of some random industrial park where there's a dude standing beside a car in the cul-de-sac waiting for you. This is a terrible B movie 😂😂😂 LOVE IT!
Dude experiencing a Roadkill moment with Mike just made it all that much better.
Exactly. Think i would've been kind of disappointed if everything went exactly as it should've when you meet Mr. Roadkill himself because you won one of his cars.
Came here to make the same comment!
The real prize wasn't the car, it was getting to hangout with Finnegan and Joe! Congrats Kevin, you seem like the perfect fit for that car! Enjoy it, and NEVER get rid of it!
Lucky guy. Enjoy the new ride
I won a trip to sema with Mike and it woulda been cool but it was obvious he was being paid to be there and it was kind of a let down. But sema itself was freaking awesome.
The gift cards and charging accessories were such a kind and great thing to do. Kudos!
I mean, honestly? That repair stuff and him getting to watch it in person just added greatness to the whole giveaway 🙂
One look at that guy's bench and it was pretty obvious how many u-joints he's changed.
Watching a guy like that only two words come to mind skill and grace. That guy was downright graceful smacking those u-joints out and back in.
Typically the younger generations cringe loudly seeing a u joint replacement that doesn't involve a Rube Goldberg press operation.
And they had four Unobtanium u-joints on the shelf! Super cool place!
I don't know who's smile was bigger Mike or Kevin but I think it was Mike you have a big heart may God bless you and your family!!!
That car is 100% cool. Dude is super lucky.
The rust on a u-joint is always a telltale sign, it lost all lube a while back and is grinding itself to pieces. The squeak is the last thing before it implodes. Good catch Finn!
Now that was a show. Worked out perfectly and you couldn't have planned better content. Thank you so much!
Mike Finnegan is such a stand up guy. He fixed the Datsun after giving it away, gave a bunch of gift cards and was even going to fly the guy out. I've seen giveaways from others and nowhere did I see anyone fly them out for free and fix if anything went wrong. Steve Morris gave away Sugar Mama, including, $10k, fly the winner in, prep the car, and take the car and it's new owner to the track for a demo.
Mike gave this dude everything he could think of and then some to make sure he got home!
A man of the people
Congrats Kevin! I've used that driveline shop for over 20yrs. Great place!!
Congrats Kevin. Enjoy the ride
Congratulations, Kevin. Don't forget Finnegan is part of Roadkill, never know what's going to happen.
"I dont think itll take $500 in gasoline.. so idk.. strippers?"
😂😂 love the thought process.
was my thought before he said it. in my mind "Cool Mike give stripper money too"...lol
Everything is easy once you establish your priorities. 😉
"I spent most of my money on gasoline and strippers, the rest I just wasted"
Where do you swipe?
@@_JamesBrownwhere you wipe.
Such a cool experience for a car guy. FSM gives their winners the full experience. Awesome job guys. Best of luck. Take Care!!!
Driveshaft shop having exactly what you needed was a small miracle!
Happy for the winner, had a 510 40 years ago and it was a blast!
Such an awesome car, you know Kevin is Stoked, congrats on the Win!
Love the autographed hat!! And a bonus sticker pack !! Can’t go wrong!!!! Thanks Mike
Good job Mike and Joe!!! I like the way that went. And you are right, a better person could not have won! Awesome!!!
Great guys you and Joe are Mike! Love your channel!
I've never seen you this filled with joy!! So stoked you're in the position to be able to share cars with others and genuinely be excited for them. Cant wait for the next one!
I still can’t believe that with free access to a time machine, you chose to go back 20 years and grab a young Bam Margera to drive your car. 2:25
I think he's the best person to win the 510!
Hopefully he have better luck with it though!
You guys are awesome! Congratulations on the Datsun giveaway.
I actually seen y'all recording this...Congrats the Kevin on the win !!
The gift cards were a nice touch, and a kick ass bonus, like a sore dikk, you cant beat it.
It really shows true sincerity and appreciation for the fans. Kick ass Mike. Keep on keeping on, and as always , #StayFrosty homeslice.

Congratulations to Kevin and great video Mike &Joe.
Let's hear about the 1957 wagon that is in your storage unit.
Yes please
Always wanted to do a SR-20T 510! Such a cool little car👍🏻
The car definitely went to the right guy!! Congratulations Kevin!!!
Looks like you genuinely the process Mike and Joe. See you guys next week
Congratulations Kevin you’re one cool dude. 😊

Love that dude. Perfect winner. And that is a cool retro little car. Cheers Finn that was fun as.

That was awesome. A little roadkill to start a cool give away. Love these Sunday mornings.
Hell yeah a Louisiana man won. Congrats brother
@finnegansgarage06 the victor?? Hell yes!
So how do i go about this? All i have is an email
Awesome how you guys seemed more stoked to give away the car than he was to get it. Truly better to give than to receive.
I would've loved experiencing the whole breakdown and repair part. Adds to the adventure. Seem like it went to the right guy!
😂gunna miss it. My landlord has one. Same color. ❤
My best friend in high school back in 1974 bought a Datsun 510. First thing he did was put US Mags and side pipes on it. We used to have a blast tooling around in it. As a fellow owner of a '70 510...congrats!!!
He got a great car. Love that little Datsun.
Congratulations Kevin! Getting to meet one of the best car guys around, and one of the niccest one's was another big win!
Congrats Kevin. I really like the car. I reminds me of the BRE 510s I built as a lid. Great job Finnegan!🎉
I have a 1970 Datsun 510 2DS. It has a dogleg 5speed with an L20B. Runs great. Chick-fil-a will forever be referred to as “ the lord’s chicken” in my household from here forward…lol
Ditto.
My first car in high school was a 72 510 Datsun. I first hated it, but then loved it & now miss the hell out of it
I’m sure that Datsun is super fun to drive and rolls thru the bumps if it has like Bilstein’s on it.
Totally awesome share doesn't get any better thanks guys😊😊😊😊😊❤❤
that would be my forever car. Lucky winner.
CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN I think the next giveaway should be a day or two just hanging out with Mike and Joe much love from New Zealand
Way to make sure it was good to go before sending him on his way. Enjoy that fun car.
All good and great vlog. Just think, same thing happened with Cleetus when he gave that brand new truck away and had to replace the entire engine when the winner came and picked it up. Stuff happens, but all for good reason!
The “Your paragraph text” in the thumbnail 😂
So cool you guys should have signed the dash congrats on the new car man

Congrats Kevin, man I would've taken Dumpster Fire and road tripped back to FL with it.👍
Good one 👍. First ride. A 67 pl411ut. Datsun. ❤
So cool definitely seems like the right guy got the car
Having to wrench a little with yall and fresh new parts hell that's a win win all the storys with friends lol
I've always wanted a 510. That looks so sick.
I had one too, same color as well.
You 'd man Mike! Congrats Kevin!
Cool and awesome winner 🏆 😊
You are so lucky. This car is sik. In Australia, we only got this car in a 4 door called the Datsun 1600.
As sweet as the 510 is, I would swap it in a heartbeat for a dirtfish lap in the ROTSUN. 😊
And some Bacon,
And some speed parts.
Just like my old Berretta, it wasn't fast but it cornered well and was fun to drive.
Cute little car. I really feel like the window frame should have been painted black. Once I noticed it, I just couldnt un-see it. I see fox body mustangs like this all the time. It drives me crazy.

I WOULD love to have the privilege of helping work with you or your helper/friend on fixing it. Let alone being given it. Good game 😀/show! LoL
Fixed and gone💪🏼😎👌thanks for the video guys have a great week later
The car is pre-disastered! It will be fine. You would know this line if you've watched the movie The World According to Garp. Great movie with a young Robin Williams with Glenn Close.

It’s not an adventure until something goes wrong.
Love the giveaway was a little disappointed withe the performance of the suspension in the c10 truck
He seems like a hella-swella-fella. Congrats!
Lord’s chicken. 😁👍🏻
Joe has professed his love for that car a few times so you should give it to him he has earned it
Old trick belt squeak just grab a bar of dove soap hold it on it for few seconds and squeak be gone for while. Always worked for me
Doood!!!! My highschool machine shop teacher would have had a cow if he saw that huge mushroom on top of that drift/punch! Talk about a hand grenade waiting to go off. 😆
Congratulations Kevin!!
Congrats Kevin))
Might as well get the full FSM experience!

Super day, super people, and great fun for all.
