- This video follows my shopping trip in London! We went to Waterstones in Piccadilly, The British Library Bookshop and Word on the Water (so awesome).
I told myself I was allowed 3 books, one from each...but naturally I bought 6! I hope you enjoy the book haul as well as the whispering and book tapping.

WHAT IS ASMR?
Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp that can feel very relaxing
As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow is one of my favorite books of this year!! It is definitely emotional, but eye opening and wonderful. It explores war and trauma and the devastating effects it has on civilians. It'll rip your heart out--but it will also nurture the compassion within any decent human being. It's so well done. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Its so good to hear that it's done well. One I will have to prepare myself for a bit but will be powerful and one that sticks with me too. Will hopefully open my eyes to some things too, and teach me about, as you say, effects on civilians. Also very intrigued to see how the imaginary creature will be portrayed. I had no idea that London had the biggest Waterstones in Europe! I want to go to London again just to go to that shop! Though I would probably have to spend all day in there 😂 What Moves the Dead is already on my TBR and I can’t wait to read it! I’ve also been considering reading the Secret Garden but I’ve never read classics before. I might pick it up if people recommend it
London was crazy busy (Im used to quieter towns!) But great for books, I definitely recommend the 3 I went to but know there are tons more too. I know what you mean about classic books but from a flip through the writing seems quite easy to digest and translates well for the modern day reader. I'll try to do a little update video when I've read it as I have a few classics on my list to get to :) thanks for commenting!

I have never seen such unique and beautiful shops and libraries. I love when you make these videos. 😍 You expose me to amazing places I've never seen. I loved The Secret Garden movie when I was young! Watched it so many times. I should definitely have the book. So nice seeing all these stunning covers. My TBR list always gets a little longer when you post vook videos. ❤️ All my books have been boxed up. I cannot wait to move and set them all back out. I miss seeing them. Books really can fill your soul. 🥲

I love book shopping but, as you say, the TBR list gets longer and longer 🤣 Secret Garden is one I've been excited to add to my collection, and so glad i managed to find it at a nice place to attach those memories to it. Its such a lovely film isn't it?! I hope your house move goes smoothly, definitely a perk of moving to be able to put your bookshelf back together 🤣 I think I need to invest in some more bookshelves!! Under The Whispering Door is Klune’s best! It has all the wholesomeness of Cerulean Sea alongside such heartfelt and nurturing handling of death. It really helped with my own grief. I hope you love it!
That's so good to know. I'm reading TJ Klunes In The Life of Puppets at the moment and loving it, so warm, wholesome and utterly unique alongside being hilarious. I'd recommend that one too, and then I shall be moving onto UTWD!! So good to know the handling of death is done well. Thanks for commenting :)
I'm really happy to see you've taken the plunge on UTWD. I got a sense of your apprehension on the video but I'm sure you'll find, like you mentioned, that TJ Klune's wholesome and uplifting style is present throughout and even in the darkest of subjects that humour, hope and positivity can exist. I really hope you end the book, like I did, with a sense of peace and contentment at another beautiful experience.
That is my hope too! I'm trying to go in open minded as I do feel in safe hands with TJ Klune and desperate to read more. Although....I may just have to pause my reading of this one as I realised The Life of Puppets is now out and sat in my basket on Amazon just waiting for me to take the plunge!!! Super super excited for that one.
@@SilverfishASMR I've only started In The Lives Of Puppets a day or so ago but I can already tell it'll be brilliant. Some laugh out loud lines already and I'm only a couple of chapters in so yes, it might be an idea to read Puppets before Whispering Door so you can prepare yourself properly. I'll look forward to your thoughts on either and both as you get to read them! Thank you for the video.....fascinating and relaxing as always 😊

You might like The Beekeeper of Aleppo. It was a very good book following the journey of a Syrian Refugee from their home.

i know you mentioned the movie annihilation, but if you haven't read the books the movie is based on then i'd highly recommend them!! they're very different to the movie, but they have the same general concepts, so you're not spoiling it by having seen the movie! :)
