I think a mix would be great. It's always good to get the breakdown and explanation of the deck, but sometimes the initial selection and thought process behind it is extremely helpful to see too.
I think one fell specter out for a third Davriel is a good idea because he pings and help with the aggressiveness of the deck. He is also good against other aggressive decks because he can take a hit or two =)
Was hoping for hypnotic specter only for the nostalgia. I played that card back in the 90s, much more than it was probably warranted. Great content as always and the added deck building intro was fantastic
@@willang3433 Yes, oh yes! The following happened to me while playing against Trix combo. Land, Ritual, Duress, Sinkhole. Land, Tourach. Land Spectre. The guy wasn't happy.
Honestly, the biggest skills of LegenVD is to be always chill. I'm already at a point where I want to punch a hole in my desk if I just see a thought eraser
I truly don't know what Wizards was expecting by unbanning Field of the Dead. My Historic experience these days has been: FotD, Teferi or Vampires (always featuring at least 2 Adanto Vanguard on the opening hand). lol
Agreed. I'm already tired of Field of the Dead personally. There are quite a number of Gruul decks in BO1 as well. They can have backbreaking openings sometimes with Burning Tree Shamans. I've fought 3x mono red in a row this morning and they are super efficient as well. One might say these are all Embercleave decks though ;) Still enjoy the format way more than standard right now.
Yeah, for some reason they thought that adding to the anthology a couple hate cards that are only playable in some decks' sideboard (and not very good even there) would've made FotD fair. In fact, cards like Maelstrom Pulse and Ghost Quarter ended up being powerful tools for FotD decks :/
@@joao17771Yes, that's what I was talking about. That's a bad sideboard-only card and only for decks playing black. You drop it and they just win with Golos, Yarok, Cavalier of Thorns, Risen Reef, Krasis or whatever value engine they have while you've wasted 3 mana doing nothing. I'm not saying there should be a sideboard card that grants you 100% win chance against Field, I'm saying that, since they wanted to unban it, they should've added some mainboard playable cards that are good against Field and fine playables overall.
This draft was a ton of fun, its great seeing these homebrew on the spot decks beat decks like field of the dead. I also loved the inclusion of the stormfist crusader, at times it felt like it help your ops, in the last game white would have been mana screwed without it, but the benefit of the extra draw outside of being able to have op discard something every turn was having the extra card for ourselves so we could fill our yard with burn spells. Another great draft, best MTG creator around!
Love the new format! Quick note for learning purposes, at 25:15 you missed lethal. If you play Rankle and attack with both crusaders your opponent can only block 2 damage so they will take 5 from combat and 1 from the draw ability on Rankle for a total of 6. Then you can Skewer the Critics their face for the last 3 damage. Thanks for the videos - always a treat!
Such a cool deck! Also really like Rakdos. And you managed to build a discard deck that not awkwardly loses even if it suceeds at what it tries to do, which most of them do, lol.
I tried a mono black variant with cat oven midnight reaper to get easy spectacle triggers on drill bit, ping them down early and make sure we're ahead in cards when we make them discard. Worked pretty well too. Other creatures I used are Nightmare Shepherd and Cavalier of Night to synergize with Oven, our discard creatures and Midnight Reaper. I find Bojuka Bog to be a nice addition to the deck as well, since it negates any benefit they may get from discarding things from their hand when it comes down. Also mono black allows for easy 3 copies of ghost quarter to counter FotD.
Just built a Dimir version of this the other day, I love this archetype! EDIT: I've also been wanting to utilize the synergy between Scheming Symmetry and Vicious Rumors too. Not sure how good it would be, but it seems like a funny combo...
Today I lost 3 ranked drafts in a row at 0 wins to mana flood/screw (I once went 12 turns without drawing land 3). I got so angry. Your chill demeanour is hella impressive.
14:47, 16:18, I also want to see through my opponent's deck after he played the very first land. 18:47, It is also nice to see through my opponent's hand in turn 3. When you build the deck, like this one, it is because you did it while streaming. I personally prefer to watch the stream or the VODs because your chat suggests stuff and it's more a "let's build something together" kind of approach. For youtube, both approaches work nicely, because, well, you are good at what you do anyway, so... No preferences. :D
1. I love all of your content! (Tbh with deckbuilding is really good) 2. If you don't have angrath, what would you do? (I just have 4 mythic WCs over, but 5-6 unfinished decks needing 9-10 mystics to complete them) Keep up the good work! You're by far the best mtg content creator!
I feel like in this deck skewer is pretty much a win more card because if you are ahead it works great, but if you are behind you really don't want to play a 3 mana lighting strike
Or if you have any way of triggering spectacle, which you can do even from behind. He won the first game without being ahead because he had 8 burn spells instead of 4 in his deck.
It's maybe a bit narrow, but what about Syr Konrad? The first ability also triggers from discard and second one provides a mana sink to waste not the two black mana.
@@LegenVD yes of course, you're a really good player I think it's easy to watch and say these things, while you're playing and are under pressure it's possible not to notice every single point of damage
