The Morgan-McClure Daytona 500 Dynasty

- A lot of motorsports fans and EVEN SOME NASCAR fans say the Daytona 500 is nothing more than a luck based lottery. I strongly disagree, and one of the main arguments against is the dynasties of Chevrolet and now Denny Hamlin. One of the forgotten Daytona 500s happened in the 1990s with the single car operation fielded by Tim Morgan and Larry McClure. During the 1990s, the team found its success not through luck, but hard work from faces such as Tony Glover and Runt Pittman. Don't forget some wheelpower in Sterling Marlin and Ernie Irvan as well. The accomplishments they achieved is greatly underrated in my opinion, so here it is. The story of the Morgan-McClure Daytona 500 Dynasty!

I've been missing your content man. I know it's been taking a toll on you, but your content is fantastic man. And you mean too much to the NASCAR UA-cam community to feel defeated. Appreciate you man
Glad brett didn't force you into UA-cam retirement
Welcome back, been waiting for this for 115 days or so
It's a hell of an accomplishment but winning a few times at one track and little success anywhere else doesn't get you in the hall.
Glad to see the videos back, excellent history lesson
They also won at Bristol, Watkins Glenn, Sonoma, Darlington (multiple times), and Talladega (multiple times)
@@Jeyrod Actually they only won at Darlington once (1995).
Bristol - 1 win (1990)
Daytona - 5 wins (1991 Daytona 500, 1992 Pepsi 400, 1994 Daytona 500, 1995 Daytona 500, 1996 Pepsi 400)
Talladega - 4 wins (1992 Diehard 500, 1993 Winston 500, 1995 Diehard 500, 1996 Winston Select 500)
Bristol - 1 win (1990 Busch 500)
Darlington - 1 win (1995 Transouth 400)
Watkins Glen - 1 win (1991 Bud at the Glen)
Sonoma - 1 win (1992 SaveMart 300k)
Martinsville - 1 win (1998 Goodys 500)
Here are 2 other accomplishments by MMM. They were one of the few teams that won all 4 of the restrictor plate races (Daytona 500, Winston 500, Pepsi 400, and Diehard 500). They also were one of the few teams to win on every type of track... Superspeedway (Daytona/Talladega), Intermediate track (Darlington), Short track (Bristol/Martinsville), and Road Course (Sonoma/Watkins Glen). These guys were a lot better than they get credit for... especially as a single car team.
Finally the content has arrived
It's great to have you back
Morgan McClure Motorsports is a badass name. It just has a good, aggressive ring to it. It just sounds like the cars are gonna be fast
Thank You For The Classic Nascar I remember watching these races keep up the good work
Ernie did not test for Larry prior to the 1990 season. He tested for him three races in Atlanta.
David just beat Goliath last night... And his name is Michael McDowell.
if denny wins tommorow i think that is the most impressive dynasty, winning 4 times in the span of 6 years
Michael McDowell won the Daytona 500

Very good video. Keep up the good work!
Great video! Good work.
Nice work
Finally got a chance to see the heads and intake from that 1991 car. After post race nascar told them not to bring it back.

Welcome back
LOL when Sterling hit Daytona and sounded like a damn Indy Car ESPN interviewed him and asked "Runt what did your guys do to the exhaust" and Runt said "What do you mean what did we do, we WORKED ON IT"
After a Talladega win Runt was asked the same question. He said with a half-smile, "We carried it down to Bob's Muffler Shop in Abingdon and did some work on it." Classic Runt.
In another interview in victory lane, Runt was asked, "Just what kind of engine do you have in that car?" Without missing a beat Runt replied, "A Chevy engine."
Love it
Ernie Irvin is so underrated
The Harley J Earl trophy wasn’t available until 1998 .
Dale Earnhardt won the first one .
At 70yrs old the Petty's are the one of the few racing teams that I can remember from my youth that are still in racing, Wood Bro. Earnhardt.
So in 50yrs some of today's teams will be gone!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have been critical of this channel for it's lack of content so I feel compelled to be complimentary here. I enjoyed this video. It was a cool idea about a subject that hasn't been beaten into the ground. I'd rather watch this any day over "top ten times an Earnhardt drank water while racing at a plate track."
It would be cool though if someone made a video about how superspeedway racing has changed throughout the years. Like,a history of drafting or pack-racing kind of thing.
