The fantastic thing about the Fender reverb circuit is it's a parallel loop. Might as well add the single triode 6G2 tremolo too, use all 2 12A_7 tubes, it'd be the single ended Princeton Reverb that never existed. The other thing to do with one dual triode is to add a buffered effects loop, cathodyne unity gain amp with level control in front of the send jack and a make up gain stage with a level control after the return jack and before the driver stage. Then your friend could put all the modulation he wants in front of the power section. I'm building a 5F2, waffling between a tube buffered loop or the Fender harmonic trem. Maybe both! Take a peek at the blond Bandmaster trem circuit, guaranteed to blow your mind lol!
Can you add the reverb with an amp that has the tremolo circuit? I want to build a champ and mod it, and id like to have both. I don't know if the reverb could sound any good into an 8 inch speaker but id love to know, amazing video
How did you like the one tube reverb, everyone has seen that "tubenits" one tube reverb, i think it was from the Hoffmann EL34World Forums ? But i have not yet had time to try it.
Don’t completely defeat the tone stack in an AA764. It’s way too much gain. Maybe you could defeat the tone stack and simultaneously lower the resistance on the NFB using a DPDT toggle. It’ll be needed if you don’t want an amp that sounds like a cranked 5f1 when the toggle is flipped.
Thank you very much for that job! Would the circuit reverb work if i add the reverb that way to a vibro champ since here the cathodes of the 12AX7 are tied together and the tremolo affecting their bias?
Adding all that to a Champ would suck every ounce of power from that little transformer. Just buy a Blues Jr, it would be cheaper and it wouldn't ruin your blackface Champ.
Hello Kley! I'm modding my 65 Champ Amp to have a mid range knob and I'm confused by the placement of the wiring. You mention the ground on your vid being the ground behind the bass potentiometer, though that is connected to the 470-1W resistor and the 25 capacitor. I see the capacitors for the tone stack, but I can't identify the 15k resistor or the ground for this mid range mod. If you could get back to me on my novice question, it would be much appreciated!
@@ListentoKadence Find the bass pot. One of the outer lugs should connect to a resistor. Something between 5k and 25k. That resistor then goes to ground. That resistor gets replaced with a pot as a variable resistor. Not sure what you mean by a 470 ohm 1watt resistor plus 25 uf cap. That sounds like the cathode of the output tube.
@@KleyDeJong I totally see my error now. I had the ground wire connected to the cathode of the output tube. So now do I connect the wire on the 3rd lug on the 25K pot to the ground on the bass pot?
@@KleyDeJong I thank you for your help. I drilled a hole in the chassis and put a vintage Clarostat as the mid range with a witch hat cap and through your perfect guidance, my 65 Champ has never sounded better. The volume knob was converted to a potentiometer with a pull switch for a bright switch. A JBL D216 resides as the speaker. So happy with the results.
DON'T DO IT!.By a pedal. Modded my 72 for gain decades ago. Did exactly what I wanted with crunch. Perfer the clean and break-up of stock now. All the pedals with gain dialed back for a clean boost push work for me now. If a pedal can do it you save butchering a great amp.
Hey Muhammed - thanks for sharing your experience. Do you mind sharing more details on what exactly you modded with your champ? I wasn’t necessarily looking to add a gain stage as I want to keep the stock cleans - just merely some more tonal flexibility with mid tone & bright switch and then also adding Reverb. Any color you can share from your own experience would be appreciated - thanks!
@@robertlillibridge1761 When I seen your post I tried to dig up a book I had. I believe it's by Gerald Weber. It's been a while seen I restored it back. I believe it made the treble a gain control or it removed the tone controls. I believe I moved some components around also. It did exactly as I wanted at the time. I wanted a bedroom amp that gave me crunch. I now like clean (lol...we're never really satisfied are we) so I put everything thing back. Got a 65 & 72 champ. It's pissing me off I can't find the book. As soon as I do I'll tell you exactly who the author is and what the mods entailed. It's been a decade and some so I forgot.

Thanks for the effort you put into these videos! I'm going to include some of these mods in a stock 5f1 clone I built a few years back!
Awesome. I love the potential of this circuit and you show that very well. Thanks
This is awesome - thank you so Kley! Merry Christmas!

Fun amp. I like the idea of larger tranny's that allow 6v6, 6l6 tubes. Also Could you discuss beefing up the phase inverter!
There is no phase inverter here!
hi can you tell me what value of the cap on the second section 12ax7 ! Is it 2 uf on the cathode .thanks

hi can i use 6l6 tube on the output with 380v on the plate and 53ma current cathode on 470ohms resistor is it ok
