- In this video, Jennifer Thomas walks you back behind the scenes through the inspiration and making-of her successful epic music album "Illumination". In this 10 year anniversary documentary-style video, she shows you how she juggled motherhood, two small children, and a busy life while creating some of her most recognized music to date.

August of 2012 I released my 3rd studio album called "Illumination." Since then, the music from this album has gone on to be used in the Winter Olympics, TV/Film, and has also won many awards. Illumination is a very special album to me because it's essentially the album that launched my career and enabled me to go from a hobbyist composer to a full time career.
2022 was the 10 year anniversary of this album and in celebration of this, not only did I finally released an official music video for my original song "Etude For the Dreamer", but also in this 'look back' video I take you through the making of this album and what was going on in my life at that time.
It was so nostalgic making this video, and many of the clips here I've never shared before because in 2012, FB and other social media was mostly text-based and so back then we just weren't sharing video like we are now. So a lot of this I've never shared before. I hope you enjoy!

This is the album that introduced me to your music (on Pandora). I can still remember hearing it for the first time & being swept away by it. I am so glad so many others have been able to find your music & that you can continue to do what you love. ❤️
I SO appreciate you saying that. This album was released back when Pandora was the BIG streaming platform, Spotify was there but it was pretty new and most everyone was listening to my music on Pandora - and that is how a lot of my core fanbase has discovered me. Thank you!!

Thanks to you, I slept through ambushes, firefights, and other very large explosions...I just turned your music up, put on my headphones and (gently) went to 😴 😊. Ok that's all I will traumatize you with. Pls keep making beautiful music like yourself and we as soldiers will keep fighting for you to keep doing it. I wish you and your family much love and peace and glad you guys are out of that 2 story room/house 😂

Pandora is how I found you! And Illumination is the song that made me do a double and triple take of “wait, who is this because this song gives me goosebumps!!” My husband bought me your CD for Christmas and I would listen to it at the highest volume my stereo and my ears would allow when alone lol! Then I found you on Facebook and was so inspired that I became a member on Patreon. And when you gave your concert in Tacoma WA in April 2018, I knew I had to come watch you perform this live and WOW! I was blown away. And now I am so honored to know you as friend. Lol that’s a good question! I have been going through some of my old memory boxes and found the original note that you sent one Christmas and my travel info for Tacoma and it brought back a flood of memories. It was so special - I genuinely love the organic nature of our relationship ❤ I appreciate your kind words as well!
My favorite album and my go to for inspiration and motivation! The orchestration is second to none and can give a person goose-bumps. Thank you for all the hard work... I don't know how you have the energy. I live vicariously through you, as I've said before, because if I'd had the patience and dedication you possess, I'd be doing just what you do. If you are ever lacking for cinematic melodies, I can come up with them all day long... I just HATE orchestrating (and doing any one thing longer than 1 hour a day). LOL! Keep going!
