It was a Rudy Ray Moore concert film, apparently released to piggyback on the success of Eddie Murphy's "Raw." I had heard of Dolemite over the years, but only watched it for the first time yesterday. It does not disappoint. Thanks for this insight into the man's life.

My first exposure to Rudy Ray Moore was through Aries Spears on Mad TV. After learning about him through the Netflix film, it's clear that he was not the "godfather of rap". Clearly, the man was the Patron Saint of rap, independent film, and stand-up comedy. He made miracles happen through sheer will, determination, and dedication to his craft.

I agree, I am glad for the new exposure for younger audiences, but I was a little disappointed with Netflix's version of his story.
Ayanna Powell yeah! Like the jumping off the side of the house actually came from his second movie human tornado not his first film. There were a couple of scenes that didn’t match the plot but that’s Netflix for ya 🤷🏽♂️
I was pulling for Roy cause I didn't know how this ended for him. Let this be a lesson for everyone. Not everything is for everyone, not everything HAS to be for everyone! This applies 100% to the internet today, FIND your audience!
Rudy ray moor is a legend
Great work. Loved it!
I cant believe it took them this long to make a dolemite biopic he’s an inspiration
He did it his way I never knew the story of the man I knew the king fu was bad. Thank you for telling the story
Thanks for putting me onto this. Searching for a copy right now!
Back in the late 80s, I was always intrigued by (but never rented) a VHS tape that said "He's rawer than RAW... He's the high priest of JIVE... He's absolutely LIVE!" It was a Rudy Ray Moore concert film, apparently released to piggyback on the success of Eddie Murphy's "Raw." I had heard of Dolemite over the years, but only watched it for the first time yesterday. It does not disappoint. Thanks for this insight into the man's life.
This was a special badass mini documentary.
You might like this one too. Good Bad Flicks episode about The Last Dragon.

I was never familiar or even knew who Rudy Ray Moore was and his impact on society. Until I watched Netflix biopic Dolemite is my name, and your video now. Covering some stuff that weren't in the movie.
This video took me on a journey
Thank You For This!! 🙏
Nicely put together
I just bought this movie on Blu-Ray for $5.00 on a whim. Coincidentally, this video comes out the day after lol
You sorry son of a b*** (Dolomite) lol 😁 just playing.✌🏿😁
Stories of how some movies in the 70s were made on a hope and a prayer and a budget saved by working a blue collar job make me realize just how much the world has changed... and the reason why good movies aren’t made anymore.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Agree with every word! You're speaking the truth!!
Thank you I had not figured out what’s changed until I read your post.
I've commented on other videos of yours, but I'm just going to say it again.
The main thing that made me a fan of your channel is the amount of research you put it, I love that.
Keep it up for as long as you can, and I'll keep watching.
