  • It's been referred to as "the Super Bowl of the sky" - the total solar eclipse on August 21 that will allow people across the continental United States to witness a rare and spectacular celestial event. Martha Teichner meets with retired NASA astrophysicist Fred Espenak (known as "Mr. Eclipse") and with other "umbraphiles" whose love of eclipses outshines all else.

Who is here again for the 2024 Eclipse? Many of us were lucky to see an eclipse not once, but twice in less than 7-years.

I think those folks who saw the little green man had probably just come from the moonshine distillery.

This is a very true story!
Much research has been done. These poor people were terrified and when they finally got the chance to leave and get help . The Sheriff made fun of them until they finally had enough of his mockery and made him come to their house. Where He found bullet holes in the cabin and alien blood with hand prints with only 3 fingers!! And US Navy who were never called ! Check for yourself ! OH and they never said anything about little green men (They were Gray).

To quote the late great Leonard Nimoy, best for playing Spock in Star Trek, "Life is like a garden, perfect moments can be had but not preserved, except in memory." The solar eclipse is a perfect example of that.

It was tricky to track it through the holes in the clouds in Lathrop Missouri, but we succeeded! Street lights coming on and I heard crickets start up. The camera proved to be awful at capturing it. I gave up the camera and just watched which was amazing. Giving up the camera and living the moment, said at the last of this video... more profound than I thought!

Most eclipse shadows go eastwards, the ones not near the poles.
