- Les & Roy are thinking of treating themselves to a short break! I love these classic clips, and it's wonderful to see how many people from around the world also enjoy seeing the late great Les too. Perhaps someone from the BBC will take note and release a DVD of these gems. Great comedy will live on forever...

Every time I come back to watch Cissie and Ada clips I feel safe and nostalgia reigns. I love Les and Roy here, wonderful comedy which makes me feel good. Best tonic if you have had a bad day.

@@PreservationEnthusiast and why is that important? It’s called acting, in early theater in Shakespeare’s time all female parts were acted by men, were they all gay, I’d doubt that very much! Roy, incidentally was gay, most people don’t care, especially not enough to comment on it👎

Just love how Les Dawson just has to walk in as Ada to get a laugh. It reminds me so much of Benny Hill as Fredd Skuttle.

I had a sudden urge to look up Cissie and Ada and I am so glad I did. I remember this from my childhood, but I think I can only really appreciate them now that I'm grown-up.

Anyone ever been to New Brighton? I have as a kid, fell in the open air swimming pool fully clothed. Ask watched my local team Hyde Utd play New Brighton in the FA Cup when NB were in the football league 3rd Div North. They had huge stadium, most of terraces were grass as I remember.

Whilst I was working in retail travel agency many years ago I experienced an Ada moment. I booked this elderly lady onto a coach tour , got her to sign the booking form and told her the deposit was 25 pounds. She replied sorry but I can not pay you. Why not I asked , I'll tell the lady as she pointed to my colleague. She had her money stuffed down her knickers !

I often think the talent here is remembering the lines.
They had an idea of the structure of each sketch and Roy knew Les well enough to know when he was being led to a joke and Les could tell when Roy was pushing him to a joke. It started out as them having a bit of fun to pass the time during rehearsals. They weren't really scripted which is why they so often almost lost it with each other.
Why is it funny that Ada wants to go to New Brighton?
