- When I reviewed these videos I was reminded of the late great Jim Croce. Highway footage was shot heading north along state route 74 - "Pines to Palms Highway" - on the outskirts of the Anza-Borrego State Park in southern California. It eventually empties into the Coachella Valley (Palm Desert, southeast from Palm Springs.)
this is a fantastic view!.. I'm still watch this video in 2024.. it's a song that never goes out of style and I like to listen to it in my car when I'm driving.... Regards!! 👍👍
My favorite song by Jim Croce. He left our world too soon, but he left the beautiful gift of his music for generations to enjoy.
My dad was a huge fan, and I lost him 12 years ago. Bawling my eyes out right now. What a great song.
What a great line: "If you're going my way, I'll go with you."
"Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by". Another great line.
When I heard this song in Django I smiled till my face hurt. It was such a perfect fit and one of my favorite oldies.
Watched Django recently for like the 5th time and it was the first time I noticed this song was on the track, immediately strated singing! 😁😊
Where I just came from
I go biking up on mulholland about 2 times a month and ride by Tarantino's house (nope, I live in a very simple plain house), and love that this song always pops into my head.
Cool song. Shitty movie
Same. I wish I watch that movie with my father. He showed me blazing saddles. And he loved Jim Croce. Life is funny
My dream was to haul my horse and myself out west to trail ride--> Florida to Wyoming ... and back. This I did! Recently, my son picked this as "our song" as he and I danced at his wedding reception. Life has not passed me by.
While the world goes to shit, these small miracles continue to happen
I got a name
I heard it for the first time in 2006 when I was broken down i remember that way and that moment 😔 but when I heard the song i was another one not that man, people said he died so young but his music remain in hearts 💕💕
May his soul rest in peace
its a good song
I would like to dedicate this song to my father, who passed away April 7, 2012 at 3:37 AM.
The phrase "I've got a name. And I carry it with me like my daddy did" is so very true for me, as I was named after my father.
You've only been gone for a month, but already it seems like an eternity. Goodnight, Dad. I'll see you in the morning.
And to my Dad, who passed on Sep 16, 2013 at 2:43 am
Get over it looser u suck
All that we are is dust in the wind
Thank you for your service. I'm an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War myself, so I know how tough it can be. Even with our comrades around us there are times when we still feel pretty much alone. Music can help us connect with memories of the ones we love as well as those familiar places and favorite things that we miss so much.
Right on god bless man
Thank You!!
A simple time in our past, the 70's were a great time to be a kid. These songs bring back memories that will be forever cherished, thanks Mr Croce, R.I.P. sir........
Possibly the ABSOLUTE BEST video on social media. I love those beautiful roads.
What a GREAT song by Jim Croce !!! Today is my 69th birthday (December 7th). ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
A icon of voice and acoustics of the mid 70's - Jim Croce. Shame he passed at any early age. His ballads. lyrics, voice and concert performances are some of the best ever! Joseph Wallace
This is a FANTASTIC song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
A beautiful melody and lyrics also. RIP Jim.
What a FANTASTIC song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
They don't make good CLEAN music like this anymore. This is one of my childhood favorites and it STILL sound good!!! my grandbaby love it.
Yes they do.
Yes, great music is still made today. These comments are ignorant.
Memories of taking that long desert highway/freeway from California to Texas over and over… with my father :’) love that man. Wish I could be half the man he is one day. 10 East I believe. Then west when it’s time to say goodbye :(
They played this song a lot during the 70's and 80's on the local radio station my parents listen to. Good song.
Yes it is a beautiful song and a beautiful person that sang it so free and Dale jr. Is the perfect one for that song in memory of him and his father love it thank you
I LOVE this song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Just spent five days in Utah last week. I played this song too while driving, especially along the scenic route 12. Incredible. The pine trees, the cool air and the fantastic views of the canyons and mountains with this song playing was more than enough to lift our spirits. Thank you Lord for the gift of nature.
The Man 🙌🏻. Understated musical genius.
truly
i love that this one made it into django unchained. always liked jim croce since i was a kid. his music takes you some place, no matter where you're from.
He never have a bad song did he? Like every song was a golden miracle... RIP Jim.

This is exactly what I visualize every time I hear this wonderful song. Cry "Freedom"!

This will always be a part of my life, I enjoy this when I'm on my Harley or my truck going places. It helps me concentrate cause its so free
This is beautiful. Not only this jim's incredibly calming and wonderful voice and the absolutely lovely guitar here. but this video too is very, very good and it must have been a great time there. :) Thank you.
I'am from the Netherlands and perhaps for the most of you thus far away, but I do understand Jim Coce. I'm quite young ( ahum, born 1965.....) but I am wild about his lyic's.
America you did bring about some wonderfull things....
Why did the greatest song writers come from the 70's and will never be surpassed?
What a song, one of his best!!
What an amazing songwriter!! Talent, hard work, life cut short too soon.
In an industry full of charlatan's Jim was an enigma. He was really one of the good guys. If you don't know his story it would be worth your time to look it up.
Jimmy, I still miss you buddy.
What a beautiful video! Currently struggling to get off the East Coast and watching this gives me HOPE. Thanks!
One of the best songs Jim Croce ever penned. Excellent video. I used to live in Southern California (San Diego to be exact) in the mid 80's and my wife and I went through Anza-Borrego on our way down to San Diego and we visited the park several times while we lived in SD. That video brings some good memories for me. Thanks for posting.
Sorry George but this was one of the very few that Jim recorded but did not write. It was written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox. It was the theme song for the 1973 movie The Last American Hero. All the other songs in the movie were written by Jim. He was offered the opportunity to get his music great exposure in a movie on the condition that he record the theme song that he did not write.
Thanks for the correction J M. No matter if Jim Croce wrote it or not, either way, it's a great song from a great singer.
Cruising music,if there ever was any!!! Old school!
Jim croce one of the greatest singers
This is a GREAT song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
its a truly amazing song
this is my song.. ,,my song since i was kid in brasil... makes me cry..makes me shiver.....and i got a dream...
Movin' me down the highway, rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
And I'm gonna go there free...
Like the fool I am and I'll always be
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
They can change their minds but they can't change me
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
And I know I can share it if you want me to
If you're goin' my way, I'll go with you
Jim croce I'm 26 year old man I think I was about 20 when I first heard your music you changed my life and opened my eyes may you rip.
I love this song by Jim Croce !!! I would listen to this song while driving to college in 1973. I loved going to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA .... great memories !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Thanks for the video. It reminds me of the road trips I took with a very close friend who passed away recently in CA. The song and the video captured the free spirit of the rides through California, Nevada and Utah.
I like what you said I'm a old truck driver and for the last 25 years passing the same road from Calexico, ca. All the way to Washington. My respect to you
simply amazing...love this song. it makes me thinks about a lot of things. a bit emotional also...they don't make 'em these days. this is really takin' my soul.
beautiful song and beautiful landscape
Sitting here in one of my most reminiscing mood, ' Lord have Mercy'... When my life was so much simpler, well a little girl then,, hearing this song playing on the radio station in Kingston JA. I needed to hear the memory of life, a carefree , good living times, Thank goodness for music, because it can absolutely take you back there........😊
my dad jimmy died 12 years ago, i know your pain all to well
What an absolutely beautiful singer/songwriter. This song gives me goosebumps all over. Every word is hand-crafted for maximum impact. There used to be another video on youtube for this song with still-motion shots of a bird taking off from a tree branch, a motorcycle rider, a young couple with a baby, all at the appropriate points of the song, and there was a dedication at the end "to Jim Croce, taken from us too soon." I can't find it anywhere now though. Sad...
thank you so much for the memories, my mom and i would listen to this song from the bridge conacting the keys. i love this song and it always reminds me of the sea
love to you, brother and all the southwest. from LA.
It even solves love tears!! tnx
I love the fact that the film Invincible introduced me to this genius. One of the greatest songs I've heard.
His music was THE best!!
My husband and I are remembering the backroads of West Virginia and North Carolina that we grew up on - the pine trees - the long summer days -- and missing our dads -- what a great song.
This song means so much, to so many. and most people don't have a clue I got a Name and I'm proud to display it.
That's the best thing about Jim Croce. His music is timeless. It's still just as good as it ever was and it's light years better than most anything being made now.
Keyeord timrless 😢
I love this song so much brings back memories of when as a kid we would go on road trips and it came on the radio and all of us singing along ahh those were the times 😊❤️
He was an awsome singer sang from the heart taken way too soon
I'm from gen Y . I came to know this song from the movie "invincible" which is a biography of a American football star Vincent Papalle . Suits the theme and great motivational music , on top of it a 70s song always is blissful to listen to.
Beautifully done.
And thank you so much for promoting this old classic here... in a REAL hifi bitrate.
Wish every uploader had the same respect.
Cheers
I love this song ! Remember this as a five year old and always loved his music. Went to see Django Unchained Saturday and this was playing. It brung memories back as a child. Nice vid !
I forgot how beautiful it is in the southern CA desert. Very well done.
Beautiful video and my favorite Jim Croce song--thank you for uploading this.
I clearly remember hearing the sad news of Jim Croce's passing. I had just started 5th grade and was out sick and had the radio on when the news came on and they announced it. I Got a Name had just dropped on radio two days before.
Good song, the mountains & scenery are pretty.
What an AMAZING song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💜💙🤎
Beautiful clip, man.
Beautiful, beautiful song!
Awesome video. I grew up listening to them
Awesome video. You did a great job capturing the song in the photos
One of Croce's best songs. Great video.
What a GREAT song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Beautiful song
This is an amazing song by Jim Croce !!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
VERY COOL!!! Been down those roads myself. THANKS MAN!!! FOR REAL!!!!!
I just read about Croce's tragic death. Who know what great songs he would have made had he lived?
I was in college, walking passed a teacher's office, when I heard a news broadcast of his death. Was shocked back then; still feeling it today.
I can only imagine, I was only a child five or six listening to his music on cassette, maybe just a year or two later learned he was dead and was so devestated
I'm from Eastern Canada and that video was DAMN awesome !!!!! thanks for Posting!!!
THIS SONG HITS CLOSE TO HOME BECAUSE MY DAD NAMED ME AFTER HIMSELF I'M A 'JUNIOR' !
I just noticed that all of his songs are about where people live and life maybe he is searching places to see where he belongs an want people to treat life like it is home
If you're talking about the scenes in this UA-cam video, all of the highway shots were taken along state route 74 in California. Read the description above.
Great, great song. I've loved Jim Croce since I was five years old and heard Leroy Brown. Wonderful footage you put together; it fits perfectly. You (if that's you) look like a really kind, good person. Thanks for this!
if i need to go to school i need to Follow The ''HW'' 6 miles than i always listen to this :) in the Foggy morning with The orange Sky :)
Real nice vid and music, it brings back real good memories, thanks.
finally, somebody not commenting about the movie....but about the artist!!!
He was a very talented man.
Great song! They don't make songs like this anymore...
I salute you solider. God bless you!
I dig this video to an old song !
Goosebumps.. Thanks for the great vid.
Right, I almost had tears well up hearing this in Django. Tarantino knows! Great movie, even better song.
Drove that road many times when I was living in Rancho Mirage.
Lembrança dos velhos tempos ❤
wonderful song!
Such deep inspiring lyrics can help any one sooth there soul
Your people and places are AWESOME :)
Great Vid! Most of the time there's just a photo of the artist, or a slideshow of photographs. Thanks for putting the song to a video.
thanks for this nice video. Love from Spain.
Of course I love this song. Not so long before it came out, my friend Leon, angry that his Dad tossed Leon and his wife out of his Dad's house, invited me to ride with him along this very same highway. Leon was so angry he just passed every car going down this road, not regarding the curves. No sooner had we passed one car than around one of those curves came a big tractor trailer, which we missed head-on-ing by inches. I'll never forget that ride or this highway.
I appreciate your real video footage during the song. I like this much better and it takes me closer to the song than anything else would. I was you when this song was released, and I spent time in the desert in the same area around the same time of my life.
Thank you.
