It definitely isn't as good of an option in street fights as it is in tournaments, but I've seen it work in both situations. Besides, it isn't like Helena Crevar can't do takedowns or something, it was a logical choice to win.

Its an Aoki lock. The break happens at the MCL similar to an inside heelhook. you see Helenas left leg in a false ashi garami which is used to put lateral pressure on the knee joint while rotating the foot externally
