    The side nob is for fan control, fluid control nob adjust needle opening.

    You're going to hate one of the best paint guns made: The Iwata Supernova. It can't be used with the fan wide open. If you try to use it that way it will split the fan which on the supernova is about three feet wide. 1 3/4 turns out from fully closed fan is perfect. Also, instead of using the cheater valve at the bottom of the gun use a diaphragm regulator like the RTI MR-1. With one of these you can come into the gun at whatever pressure you want and it regulates it to a precise PSI value.

    • @hunkydude322
      @hunkydude322 3 роки тому

      the Iwata could cost a million dollars but if you don't know how to use it it isn't worth chit to the painter.

    Interesting that when you turn in on the fan giving it less air the spots got less. I guess it sent more air to the nozzle to help breakup the paint into a finer mist. The fan adjustment is mainly to adjust the width or shape of the spray. I been painting for years and never realized that. Thanks for the video. I learned something new today.

      So called gravity guns use less air and less paint, are easy to clean so less thinners to waste, also they aren't as cumbersome to handle giving better gun control.

    Do you lower the inlet pressure and change the fan shape to narrow or round?

    So on the fan your looking for a nice tight sprey pattern with minimal external like overspray effect and even? I'm learning this myself, also need to talk about air supply as thats where I have already gone wrong, the 1/4 quick couplers were strangling my air supply so much that my gun wouldn't make 10psi wide open, with 1.4 nozzle and pipe lenght, internal diameter and the couplers are important so I found, I'm using 15cfm 100 litre compressor. Good video thou, even cheap guns can do a fantastic job if you know how to set it up.

(I'm using correct reducer activator) 2. What do you do.when the paint is really thick? Sometimes I spray rustoleum enamel tractor paint from a gallon can, even when I reduce more than recommended, the paint is so thick I can't get good atomization.

    Do you always use the same spray pressure regardless of paint manufacturer? Ex. Eastwood recommends 10 to 15 psi for HVLP guns.

      Yes I always use the same pressure
