    On November 11th 2010, Iowa Interstate 2-10-2 QJ #7081 ran from Des Moines to Council Bluffs, Iowa in conjunction with the Rock Island Technical Society. 7081 would be on display at Golden Spike Park in Council Bluffs along with Union Pacific 4-8-4 #844. 844 was there celebrating 50 years of steam excursions on the UP.
    The run back to Cheyenne covering the next two days would be Steve Lee's last time at the throttle before retirement.
    Includes;
    *Chasing, pacing of Iowa Interstate 7081 on Thursday and on a very cold and windy day on Saturday, Nov. 13th
    *Union Pacific 844 leaving Omaha on the 13th
    *Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 #3985 on the River Sub into Jefferson City in October 2010
    Special thanks to Paul Hester of Indianapolis for his driving skills, and camera set up and filming of some of the runbys on Saturday with the 7081.
    Witness a main line steam doubleheaded revenue freight on the Iowa Interstate June 9th & 10th, 2007 between Booneville, lowa and Council Bluffs.
    Thanks to RRDC, the lowa Interstate and Historic Transport Preservation (Steam Specials) for making this photo opportunity possible. Over two dozen photographers and videographers from various parts of the U.S. including both coasts jumped at the opportunity to see QJ's 7081 & 6988 put on quite a show with freight in tow! Special thanks to William Steinkraus for additional video footage!

    They put the two QJs to the test with that freight train for sure. Very nice video. Like how the camera didn't change position as train went by. Wish more people would film this way. Thanks for posting. 👍

      QJs are pretty strong. 3800hp almost 65.000lbs of traction effort.

      As a retired SP steam qualified locomotive engineer, it always bothers me to see black smoke continually billowing out of the stack, roperly fired steam engines emit a very light haze

    Not so much a steam train as a coal train. Unfortunately, it's probably a miraculously good thing that we only have a few of these around as novelties. Carbon capture devices on the stacks would be technically a challenge, wouldn't you think?

    Are any of you wondering why you heard the tornado siren at the beginning of the video? Some small towns in the Midwest do noon blasts of some of their sirens.
