It is a pleasure and an honour to read these wonderful stories about The Greatest Horseman who ever lived, Tom Dorrance, from the beautiful book More than a Horseman full of pictures and tales collected by Margaret Dorrance and John Saint Ryan.
Today's story is from Ray Hunt (Recorded by John Saint Ryan 10/15/96) "I've never know anyone like him and I don't think I ever, will. I've searched all over the world looking for another person with his ability with horses and I cant find anyone that comes close to what he had. I can't explain what it was that was in him but the quality that he had came from him and went into the horse. you couldn't see what he was doing. It just worked. To this day and for the rest of my life I'll be trying to understand it"

Wouldn't it have been great to be there to witness it all? To learn from Tom. To see Hondo and Ray transform. To see Ray ride at The Cow Palace. What a joy that must have been.

Oh I know... when time travel is possible that will be my first stop !!!! Doing all we can to keep their work alive for the sake opf the horse is a small thing in return for all that wisdom
