her shaking hand, the shaking in her voice... this part really hits me in the feels. it's like she's not singing or acting, it's so realistic, like they are having a 'real' conversation. I'm still tearing up when the higher part is kicking in. God, this was beautifull made for a 2008 film.

Her singing justifies the whole point of the scene. She did not deliver the song as a song but as a monologue wrapped in a song. Just like any musicals, it doesn't necessarily need that the actor should belt out the song but more importantly, he/she should be able to tell the story through a song. Meryl is perfect in this movie 💙💙💙

There are plenty of wonderful women talent. Love Meg Ryan and etc etc. But, she is undoubtedly the best in terms of she was made in the stars alignment for best of the bests. She will be remembered as being the winner.

I didn't know what to expect when I watched Mamma Mia. I thought it was going to be a simple feel good movie. For the most part it was, but this song/performance by Streep brought me to tears. I could feel the pain Donna was going through. So well done! She's a great actress and singer!

I watched this movie on DVD when my "Sam" was married to my "best friend" and he was watching this with me; while my " friend" was doing college homework. We weren't quite expecting this song and the emotions this brought up between us. You could've cut the tension in the air with a knife!
Always remember the one who can love the deepest is always the winner cause her next love in her life will be so blessed and he will be the jackpot for her. The leftover will be a reminder of how lucky she is to know real love; the rule of life.

When she runs it is truly so dramatic and so perfection of theater acting. She lost it and was finally done. The act was done. Chapter has been written and closed. She runs away from her past only to find comfort when she sees him finally in her line of sight only to be lost.

This song is so powerful and emotional and the breathtaking Meryl makes it even more special. Perfect song, perfect actress and singer, strong emotions and a huge talent. Meryl Streep can do anything, loved Meryl before I learned to walk and I will love her until the end of times.
The emotion in her voice is just great the amount of awards she should of won is unbelievable the shaking in her voice and hands shows she really cared about this scene

"The winner takes it all" originally song by ABBA is one of the most heartbreaking breakup song of all time, and it makes me feel emotional because I can relate it with my sad past. As if it talks about me really. But besides it's a very beautiful song that I love so much.
Like most ABBA songs, it was written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
It originally had the title 'The Story of My Life'.
Agnetha Fältskog sang the lead vocals on the ballad, which was recorded the same year that she and Ulvaeus divorced.
Spectacular - this performance leaves me BREATHLESS. There will never be another like this living legend. She is forever one of my all time faves.

When I went to watch mama mia I didn't know what to expect but it was the greatest cinema experience I ever had to my surprise. I came out feeling lifted and with a big smile on my face. When they did this number the hair on my neck stood up as the music speeded up and meryl runs up them steps wow. Awsome.!

Many years after this film was made, I watched it the first time. Expected boring kitsch, even though I was knowing about Meryl Streep's brilliant performances in other movies. But then I was quite surprised about the depth of the story ( learned something, both about women and about myself) and wonderful and heartwarming scenes. Good movie, fantastic Meryl Streep!

I highly recommend for the young artists today to take lessons in the depts of scenes like this. I am a millennial and I feel that the art of this portrayal has always been around, just not given much attention to especially nowadays. This scene is so deep that I forget I am in my realm...it's just so multi dimensional. Bravo!
