Yo, I purchased MacBook M2 in August 2022 and Today is 7 Jan 2023. I haven't experienced any lag or inefficiency so far. I am not regretting on purchasing this product. Totally worth it.

Guys the M2 base variant (256gb) has a single 256gb NAND instead of 2x128gb like the base M1. So actually, it is 50% slower than the old model. If you get the 512gb variant, there is no difference
Difference won't be noticeable in day-to-day use. Latency is the same for both. Therefore, the speed difference will only become apparent when you're copying hundreds of gigabytes of files.

I use iMac for music production and I recently bought MacBook Air M2 to carry my projects around while travelling. I use Logic Pro X with a minimum of 100 tracks running simultaneously in each project and I haven’t felt even a slight hint of lag. Besides, I use high memory consuming plug-ins in most of the tracks 🤷🏽♂️ I would rank it as the best Macbook in budget

For the fellows out there, those who don’t do heavy professional editing and ultra high end gaming this Macbook Air M2 is perfect. He is saying this because he has used a laptop with faster reading and writing speed. In day to day usage you won’t be even able to feel the difference if don’t compare it to other Mackbook. This is new design language of which you won’t get bored easily and will provide good resell value. Has many other tiny factors that are upgraded so go for it.
MacBook Air M2 and MacBook Pro M2 costs same in India get the second one if you actually want some performance boost. It is a pro linup variant it is not artificially restricted to single external display, slower SSD speeds, etc You will have larger battery and also a proper CPU fan which makes it significantly faster(15-20% in my experience) in sustained loads also keeps the MacBook cooler as well. Otherwise just save the money and get M1 Air it's just plain better option. The pro that M2 Air has over both M1 Air and M2 Pro is 1080p webcam but that's it.
The SSD speed doesn't have an effect on your day to day usage, which is random read writes. Only on large sequential transfers does it make an effect. Random read writes are faster. The number of nand chips doesn't matter because these aren't in any RAID configuration (which would've required additional controllers)

If you are throwing numbers then you need to properly justify it. Because apple claims that m2 is faster than m1 and ssd speed does not matter unless you are dealing with huge files. So how you got 5% slower experience in daily work is a mystery.
