    This is amazing! That’s all what I want to say, actually.

    Guided tour idea is great. In non-guided videos I have many times to pause them and check google for details but in many cases I am not even aware of some places that I should check. So my yes for more guided videos.

    I honestly think your videos are the most well-made of all the walking videos in Japan I've seen so far. The walking speed is just right, and how you choose things to show on either side. The narration style also goes well with how usually calm places in Japan are. Been there in Japan, but just in Kansai region so far. Would want to visit places you've featured in your channel. Greetings from the Philippines!

    I looked up regards the dragon. It appears to be a legend around it and a goddess. The goddess was well known for her eloquence and “made” the island whilst the dragon plagued the people and turned rock to watch over the goddess even in afterlife , at first he failed to marry her but they are said to have. The legend makes the island popular for bridal couples and therefore is a love fortune, maybe that’s why there were so many pink things with hearts around the shrines. The cave you mentioned is said to be of highly spiritual interest as it somewhat gathers energy from mt Fuji. It’s all online research and idk if anything is accurate. I liked the abandoned house, it easily could inspire any painter and author. Thanks for the walk, it was again a pleasure, especially the lighting at shrines and the komorebi was very beautiful. You give enough attention to what would need to be explained. And the tempo also of changing the camera perspectives is fine and doesn’t make dizzy. It’s good that there’s the escalators but I wonder in what tempi they run. Anyways. Thank you for the sunny day on a mysterious little island.

    My deeply gratitude for what you are doing, showing Japan, for those who, at the moment, are unable to go there. About the question of which one is most preferred, the ambient sound video or the the guided tour video, both are awesome, but personally, rather like most, the guided tour video, as you know, Japanese pronunciation, is not quite easy, and because of your knowledge of the language, knows how to pronounce all Japanese cities, stations, streets, etc. Arigatōgozaimasu.

    Another very interesting video, thank you. I will add Enoshima to my list for my next trip to Japan. Regarding the video format, I feel that it is very well done. You do not feel the need to comment continuously as other hosts do. Sometimes it is nice just to remain quiet while we enjoy the views / local scenery. Also, the recommendations on where best to stop for a bite or a drink are very helpful.

    To expand upon what I said before
    In 2015, I was in a rush from Kamakura to visit Enoshima, so I only walked around the east part of the island, only had the chance to enjoy a sunset.
    In 2019, I was dealing with a right feet injury, so even it was a pain to walk, I went all the way up to the Observatory (only because the Mount Fuji was visible that day), so the experience was pleasant and painful at the same time.
    Thanks for bringing up back these memories, especially now that my trip for year is most likely cancelled (will move it one year exactly). I’ll keep looking Japan through your videos.

    @user-kc1tf7zm3b 4 роки тому

    Hello, Mr Tokyo Explorer
    Since you asked for suggestions…
    *1. No need to ramble with dialogue*
    Since you are a journalist, it does not need to be said that there is no need to make continuous non-stop commentary. There is not much to talk about when you are passing public toilets. Restraint is a welcome quality when it comes to commentary. You are already doing all of this, which is great. You are achieving the right balance of being informative and verbosity. I just make this redundant point for others who read this comment, in case they have ideas of making their own narrated videos.
    *2. Record the commentary in your home studio*
    Another no brainer, as if you make live commentary during the recording, there is no way that you can make ambient audio only version of the video. Needless to say, even with a basic studio microphone, the audio clarity and quality will always be much better than with a live microphone. Again, you are already all of this, so keep doing what your are doing. I just expand on this point for others.
    *3. Use footage from last three months*
    To save time and effort, it would still be acceptable to use video footage from the past three months, even within central Tokyo. No need to be fanatical with trying to make the most current video footage; it will eventually age anyway. For locales outside Tokyo where there is much less development, you could even stretch this out to six months. Of course, you ought to expressly state the video and audio commentary precise dates for a professional touch with both audio announcements and the written description. e.g., _"The video and audio recording dates are Sunday 28 June 2020, __13:00__-__14:00__hrs and Wednesday 1 July 2020 respectively."_
    *4. Homeless people*
    With a recent Shibuya piece where you passed Tower Records and walked underneath the Yamanote Line bridge, you moved the camera away from a homeless person’s cardboard home. As you stated, this is a delicate and sensitive topic. However, I feel that this is a wrong artistic and journalistic decision. CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera TV journalists would never do such a thing. The plight of Tokyo’s poor needs to be documented as these disadvantaged people are still very much part of Tokyo. The poor, working class, middle class and wealthy alike all have a right to be included in your videos.
    The homelessness in Tokyo, one of the world’s wealthiest and successful cities, is testament that the metropolis and Japan have failed these people. Japan society ought to do more for these people whose outcome in life is not how they wanted it to be. These people deserve safe, secure and affordable housing.
    *5. Live Q&As walking videos*
    Live Q&As are rather inefficient when it comes to gaining more knowledge from you, as over time, nearly all the questions will eventually be repeated. Tedious. But, on the same token, the live videos are an obvious lucrative revenue stream with superchats.
    *6. Coronavirus commentary*
    It is best to omit coronavirus opinions as if you are not well read with this very complex scientific topic, you will invariably make mistakes with statements which do not bear closer factual scrutiny. There is nothing to gain, but, much to lose with your credibility. A very well known American UA-camr makes coronoavirus opinions and statements with every live video, which leads to immediate and public rebuttals from viewers who are far more knowledgeable and qualified than the content creator.
    Michael Schumacher is the most successful Formula One driver ever. In part, due to the fact that he always left F1 political opinions to others; he even stated on TV his reluctance to express contentious opinions.
    *7. Ikea Harajuku tour*
    Many of your viewers would like to see the inside of the new Ikea store. Even though it is a given that the items are the same anywhere else in the world. You could even continue with this Swedish theme with a quick walk through Volvo Toyosu… and the Swedish Embassy exterior in Roppongi! The semi-circular building looks interesting. I am sure if you ask nicely, flash your Swedish passport and UA-cam credentials, to His Excellency Ambassador Pereric Högberg, the Ambassador would not mind one bit if you take a video of the external facade. Have you ever met the Ambassador?
    Apart from all this Mr Tokyo Explorer, your narrated videos are great. There are not many others in Tokyo who can make similar content for obvious English language issues. So, you have the market all for yourself for now. Hopefully you will stay in Japan long enough so your viewer count will reach the hundreds of millions. This is perfectly achievable with persistence and time.
    *ALLT HÄRLIGHET TILL SVERIGE OCH JAPAN!* 🇸🇪 🇯🇵

    • @TokyoExplorer
      @TokyoExplorer  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! As for 1, 2 and 3, The narration is actually recorded afterwards at home, over archive footage in this case. And I only talk during a minor part of the video, there's no "constant non-stop commentary". Did you actually watch this video thoroughly?
      Thanks for the feedback!

    • @user-kc1tf7zm3b
      @user-kc1tf7zm3b 4 роки тому

      @@TokyoExplorer Apologies! For Points #1 and #2, what I wanted to say is essentially: *“Keep doing what you are doing with the amount and length of commentary, and, recording the audio at your home studio. These aspects are perfect and need no further refinements.”* I have edited these suggestions, please re-read my original comments for more clarity.
      Truth be told, I made these suggestions after watching the Austrian F1 Grand Prix, hence the Michael Schumacher reference. It was very early in the morning when I made the draft, so perhaps I assumed too much. Valtteri Bottas was certainly the best driver over the weekend.
      As for Point #3, again, if you _were_ , say, using video footage from March 2020, in the spring, this would have been fine. But, the fact that the footage is obviously very recent from the current summer of 2020 is a bonus, as it is helpful to see how Enoshima appears in light of the coronavirus pandemic. On a positive note, experiencing the island in the summer with other tourists in their t-shirts, skirts and sunglasses is heartening to see, as the mood is more upbeat and lively. Especially for those in the southern hemisphere in the middle of winter.
      I certainly did watch the entire video while giving it my full attention on my Sony 4K TV. It is a joy to watch and to listen to your commentary and insights. When you said in a previous explainer video that you are a journalist and photographer, this came as no surprise to me as your work has a lot of finesse, care and sophistication. Again, your artistic restraint is a mark of a balanced professional.
      Your fans eagerly await the next narrated video tour instalment.
