It's illegal to drive this now, so if you're visiting as a Tourist, the least you can do is respect the land you're visiting and it's laws and not degrade it and harm it by driving on it.

You have to guess. People make a road and then it erodes fast and can become impassible. You want to always go the shallowest and most freshly travelled route and see where other people are going.
Um yeah NO! Our ride was not as smooth as this one. It was quite rough! Maybe the driver did that on purpose of giving us the full experience.🥴 But at the end of it all. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!🥰
I feel like this video doesn’t do justice to how it really is. There are a few parts where it gets tricky with a 4x4 Wrangler. And the road changes from year to year. As a first timer use a 4x4 cause you don’t know the route. You can slip the local transfer drivers 10-20 bucks then you can follow em through.
You can but most rental policies don't allow it. But why when rent a 4x4 if you're not going to take it off road 🤷 Just be ready to make up a story if you do something to it
Make Nitro Great Again Most companies do not want you to do it, and is against their policy. However, many people do it anyway, so I think the policy is mostly there for insurance purposes
@@powerofyourbrains yea they don't read the fine print or don't care. If you take your rental jeep to places like this, waipio canyon and mauna kea, green sand beach, be prepared to pay the repair bill yourself if it gets damaged because your rental car insurance is void.

@@powerofyourbrains yea good trail guide thanks. you ever see the video taken over on lanai a few years ago of someone driving past a rental jeep that was on fire? i think offroading over there should be or is insured because most of the island destinations are on 4x4 roads. if it rains the rental place tells you to not go off road lol. we did but stopped by the store and bought a couple gallons of water and washed the mud off.

It is indeed. I could easily reverse the image, but that would be confusing and somewhat deceptive.

Is a 4x4 required?
I would not say its required, but it makes it a lot easier if you're not experienced at off-roading. You do need ground clearance regardless however
