Hey Denis I bought my ticket for sept... I’m staying in Morelia and I’m landing in Gen Francisco J Mujica Intl Airport (MLM), how far is the that from the volcano. And I rented a car should I drive there or take a tour to that destination? Any other advice you can give me I’d super appreciate it

That sounds exciting! I didn't head there straight from the airport but with a car, it should be about 1 hour and 40 minutes more or less.
I don't think there are many tours there or at least I didn't see a single tour bus when I was there. A majority of the people I met there drove there themselves and then took a tour.
Once you arrive in the town there will be locals offering you tours because this is what their town lives off of. If you are staying I recommend doing the tour to the volcano (which you will need a horse) then after that you will be taken to the church
I honestly can't remember what they charge but just be careful as they will try to charge high prices (I think he tried charging me $500-$700 just to take me to the church and that is just way overpriced, he then tried to charge me $200 after I said no). I mentioned this in the video but I did not go to the volcano because I was short on time. I walked to the church and although it looks far (you can see the view on 3:48 in the video) it is a clear path and you do not need a guide because the path is clear directing you straight there. I suggest you walk it only took me less than 30 minutes, then again I also do enjoy walking.
The guide will be helpful though to hear more about the history. Also, the guide will mention you have to pay for his horse also because he will need a horse as well to guide you.

+pedro bisono thank you! Not very many activities but going to the church and hiking up to the volcano will definitely take up the entire day. The town is small but definitely worth the visit.

Ok so last question what’s is your recommended amount of time to stay to explore the town and life and enjoy the sites. I’m looking to go with a group off fire man from ny

pedro bisono if your going to hike the volcano and visit the church you should arrive very early. Perhaps before 7AM.
I arrived around noon and knew I wouldn’t have time to hike the volcano so I only visited the church.
The only way to hike the volcano is with a horse. If you’re just going to the church it’s about a 30 minute walk to the site from the “tourist” starting point. It’s a nice walk.
If you’re walking all the way from the entrance of the town from the Main Street (where the bus drops you off at) add another 20 minute walk. Honestly the town is quite nice and if you love to walk around just walk the entire time (if you’re skipping the volcano) . That’s what i did.
Near the tourist start point they do have places to eat as well as right when you get to the starting point (after the 30 minute walk) this is food made from locals like quesadillas and honestly they were delicious
Tip. There are guides going up and down the town on their horses looking for tourists to take. It’s up to you if you don’t want to walk. They are persistent
      I hope this helps :)

Also if you want to spend the night they do have cabins or you can just ride back to Uruapan (more places to eat, shop, and see) this is what I did
