Dude - I absolutely love the level of detail you go into when it comes to the mistakes you make or the inconsistencies in your table saw/sled. Cheesus, you are the FIRST person I've seen address the drawer front drop issue. I've been struggling with that one with Blum slides. I'll have to try your counter balance method.
Another awesome build Keith. One question or thought on the veneered panels for the doors. Why did you first get them down to thickness and then did the glue up instead of getting them close and maybe 1/8" thicker (each piece)? That way you'd have more material to work with and it would easily pass through the planer. More bread than peanut butter for the sandwich. That might have helped with the slight cupping issue after glue up. That is the way I've been doing mine. Just a thought.
Well, they were milled down to 1/4" thick before gluing to the MDF panel and then the entire panel was brought down to thickness once veneered. I couldn't really go any thicker as I didn't have enough material from the same board to re-saw.
Keith, Great work. What type of blade are you using to cut the Venneer panels also what Horse Power is your band saw. It looks like you have plenty of power to cut the oak veneer. Thank you!
Hi Keith, I see you using woodpeckers combination square. Do you prefer these over the traditional ones? Also, do they accept the traditional combination square blades if I don’t use the indexing feature?
my Starrett blade fits in there, so you could swap it if you want to. I like the extension tab on the WP so it doesn't tip if you leave it down on the edge of your workpiece.
I absolutely love your videos. Good commentary. Your speaking style is fun and natural. This project has sooooo many steps in the work flow process. Do you write your work flow down or just keep track of it in your head?

Awesome conclusion to part 1. Noticed you’ve switched from Blum to salice for your drawer/door hardware. Any reason why? Is it a noticeable difference between products or much of a muchness? What about jigs? Are they compatible between the two brands?
Most jigs are compatible. The action and quality of the Smove slides are better quality in my opinion. To be fair, they both have their pros and cons, but one of the biggest pros for Salice is their customer service and commitment to smaller cabinet shops. Blum alienated a tremendous amount of small shops during Covid and you still have to buy large minimums of slides from some vendors.
You can also buy something called "Spaceballs" to put in your door panel groove to hold the door panel where you want and keep it from rattling and still allow for expansion
Thanks for sharing. What's the open time for the Total Boat epoxy? I have a tricky glue up on my next project and need much longer than what I can get from liquid hide glue.
I used to sub out my drawer boxes, but then I realized it was just as easy to build them myself, it also allowed me to not to have to wait for them. I am actually just finishing a video on my drawer box process. what is the difference between the smoove and futura slides, I use futura and they have a different clip, I've never looked into smoove before.
Spraying/Finishing is the issue. It's too much work to setup a space for that in my small shop. The Futura aren't rack and pinion and they have a slightly different closing action - not quite as smooth.
@@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking I understand, I have a wide belt sander and a spray booth. so that makes it easy for me, Maybe 8 years ago, I did the math and realized that it cost me the same in labor and materials than it did to order the boxes, But instead I was putting the money in my pocket not the drawer company. I know it doesn't work in all situations, I am fortunate.

Sehr sehr schön gemacht und definiert gearbeitet. Finde die Eiche in Natur schöner. Aber das ist ja Geschmackssache 😉😊
🙏🏻👍🏻😎
@@oliver299d exactly! Every one has a different situation and you figured out the most cost effective solution for you. Kudos 👍🏻
