    Dude - I absolutely love the level of detail you go into when it comes to the mistakes you make or the inconsistencies in your table saw/sled. Those little bits are invaluable to woodworkers who are trying to improve their skill sets.
    So often, I see guys building these beautiful pieces and never have spacing or squaring issues (or at least, never showing them). Its aggravating as can be, because I run into them with a fair deal of regularity. So, thanks for including them and showing how you go about resolving the problems!

    Out of the woodworking channels i have found, you're one of three that still makes build videos. Theres a few that i used to really like but they have stopped doing build videos and started doing stupid tiktok trends and tool reviews on cheap tools on Amazon. Disappointing. Oh well. Thank you for still doing build videos.

    ‘Sometimes, I like to get this perfect.’ - KJ.
    Not sometimes, Keith, but all the time. You are the epitome of perfection!
    That was a very complicated build, but I really like the results. It makes such a difference when you match the grain of the door components and draws too, that it looks so uniform and super high quality. The guys always tease you about how particular you are when choosing grain on the Shop Sounds pod, but it’s absolutely worth it when you get results like this. Once again, I tip my hat to you, Sir.

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
      @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking  2 роки тому +1

      Much appreciated, Chris!! The strive for perfection can be a curse sometimes since it's not really achievable, but I always have a quality target I'm shooting for and if that's take a little longer, I'm OK with that 😉👍

      @@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking. I always enjoy your builds, Keith. The level of detail you show your audience, I can’t help but learn so much from you. Along with less than a handful of other channels, you’re an inspiration! With this one, it was timber choice, grain matching, glue type, pocket screws, Lamello, Domino, reveals, new draw slides, new hinges, pre-finishing, a different Rubio finish, fixing mistakes and damage (it was a great fix, by the way), assembly, disassembly, and installation… and I just know I’ve missed some!
      17 months ago, after 3 years of college classes at night time, I decided to change careers and I went from being a bicycle mechanic and salesman for 22 years, to working as a cabinet and furniture maker, so your videos are invaluable, Keith. Keep up the great work and all the best to you.

    Another awesome build Keith. One question or thought on the veneered panels for the doors. Why did you first get them down to thickness and then did the glue up instead of getting them close and maybe 1/8" thicker (each piece)? That way you'd have more material to work with and it would easily pass through the planer. More bread than peanut butter for the sandwich. That might have helped with the slight cupping issue after glue up. That is the way I've been doing mine. Just a thought.

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
      @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking  2 роки тому

      Well, they were milled down to 1/4" thick before gluing to the MDF panel and then the entire panel was brought down to thickness once veneered. I couldn't really go any thicker as I didn't have enough material from the same board to re-saw.

    I dont do any type of woodworking at all and probably never will but your videos are so good! I've been waiting on the second part of this vanity like I wait for my favorite TV show to come back! Keep up the great work. Also I play a game with myself to guess which cat is which before you say their name and im getting better any tips on how you tell them apart?

    Awesome conclusion to part 1. Noticed you’ve switched from Blum to salice for your drawer/door hardware.
    Any reason why? Is it a noticeable difference between products or much of a muchness?
    What about jigs? Are they compatible between the two brands?

      Most jigs are compatible. The action and quality of the Smove slides are better quality in my opinion. To be fair, they both have their pros and cons, but one of the biggest pros for Salice is their customer service and commitment to smaller cabinet shops. Blum alienated a tremendous amount of small shops during Covid and you still have to buy large minimums of slides from some vendors.

    You can also buy something called "Spaceballs" to put in your door panel groove to hold the door panel where you want and keep it from rattling and still allow for expansion

    What band saw do you have? I remember on ShopSounds hearing you were getting a new one.

    Thanks for sharing. What's the open time for the Total Boat epoxy? I have a tricky glue up on my next project and need much longer than what I can get from liquid hide glue.

    Sehr sehr schön gemacht und definiert gearbeitet. Finde die Eiche in Natur schöner. Aber das ist ja Geschmackssache 😉😊

    I used to sub out my drawer boxes, but then I realized it was just as easy to build them myself, it also allowed me to not to have to wait for them. I am actually just finishing a video on my drawer box process. what is the difference between the smoove and futura slides, I use futura and they have a different clip, I've never looked into smoove before.

      Spraying/Finishing is the issue. It's too much work to setup a space for that in my small shop. The Futura aren't rack and pinion and they have a slightly different closing action - not quite as smooth.

      @@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking I understand, I have a wide belt sander and a spray booth. so that makes it easy for me, Maybe 8 years ago, I did the math and realized that it cost me the same in labor and materials than it did to order the boxes, But instead I was putting the money in my pocket not the drawer company. I know it doesn't work in all situations, I am fortunate.

      @@oliver299d exactly! Every one has a different situation and you figured out the most cost effective solution for you. Kudos 👍🏻
